The Twentieth Islamic Quiz
Dear Sister,
In front of you is our Twentieth Islamic Quiz, which you can do at home. We
invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to test and increase your
knowledge; for it is with correct Islamic knowledge that we fight the Bid’ah and
stand against the whispers of the Shaitan (devil), in sha’ Allah.
The topic of this quiz is Major Sins.
It is incumbent upon every Muslim to know the major sins which Allah
commands us to avoid. However, one will not be able to avoid them except after
knowing them. The Salaf (Righteous predecessors) used to say: “How could one
take protection from (against) that what he does not know?” One’s intention
when learning these major sins should be: to avoid them and stay far away from
them and be cautious from falling into them. And the religion is established upon
“Obeying the commands and abandoning the prohibitions.” This is Taqwa.
The scholars took care of compiling the major sins and counting them to make
the people aware of the major sins so they can avoid them. The book “The book
“Major Sins” by Imaam Adh-Dhahabi” is one of the best books regarding major
sins. Therefore, we chose the topic of this year’s contest from this book.
2
Bear in mind dear sister, that the slave needs two matters:
1- Knowledge about major sins.
2- Help of Allah to avoid it.
Therefore, always ask Allah (Ta’ala) to help you abandon major sins.
It is our intention, that through this quiz, one will know the gravity of the major
sins and try to abandon them in his lifetime.
Suggested steps to be followed in answering the quiz:
First: Read the book “Major Sins” by Imaam Adh-Dhahabi
Second: Read every question carefully and try to understand the question before
answering.
Third: Seek help from Allah and solve the quiz.
Do not be discouraged if you do not know some of the answers: this is your
chance to learn and then to apply your new-found knowledge.
Hopefully this quiz will help you gain knowledge about the major sins and how
to avoid them. You have more than one month to complete the quiz; please hand
in your answers by February 1st, 2019. Don’t forget to write your name. May
Allah the Exalted reward you for your effort.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan

A Reminder
Dear sister, remember that solving this quiz is an act of worship because it is a
means of seeking knowledge which is one of the best acts of worship. Therefore,
don’t forget to bring into your heart, the proper intentions when solving this quiz.
Don’t forget to perfect your answers and submit them in the best way that you
can, and remember that Allah (Ta’ala) loves al-Muhsineen (the good doers and
those who perfect their deeds).
Copying the answers from another sister, in other words, cheating, is a sin, and
those who help in committing this sin are sharing the guilt. Allah (Ta’ala) said:
“Don’t help one another in sin and transgression.” [Al-Ma’idah 5:2]
The aim behind solving this quiz should not be for worldly praise or worldly gain
or pleasing others besides Allah (Ta’ala). Otherwise, this action will lead to Shirk
or Riyaa’.
The aim behind this quiz is to learn what you don’t know and to implement what
you have learned, because you will be asked about it on the Day of Judgment.
