TUSCHINSKI THEATERThe Tuschinski Theater located in Amsterdam is one of the world’s most unique movie theaters. The Tuschinksi has beautiful architecture and can be spotted along the Amsterdam skyline. People flock to see movies here in or-der to feel the spirit of this old theater. The main room was designed with two different balconies along with the floor seats. The foyer of the theater is an extravagant, array of colors created to capture the eye of anyone who enters the theater. The Tuschinski may not appear as a movie theater from the outside of the building or even through the foyer and hallways, as it has many contrasts with the average movie theater most people would recognize in today’s world. Despite the unusual characteristics of the Tuschinski, it remains popular among many.

The Tuschinski Theater was built by Abraham Icek Tuschinski in 1921. Orig-inally from Poland, Tuschinski moved to Rotterdam and built several movie the-aters, as he was interested in the cinema arts. He then moved to Amsterdam and decided to build his best theater yet. The theater was designed by architect Hij-man Louis de Jong and is a mixture of multiple types of architecture. Along with movies, the Tuschinski has also served as a stage for many concerts, including Dizzy Gillespie. From 1940-1945, Germany controlled this area and the theater changed its name in order to not be suspicious. Abraham Tuschinski was sent to a Nazi concentration camp, where he was killed. Several renovations have been made over the years but the theater has remained open and has never lost its charm.
