NOTE FROM PASTOR REBECCA

Elkhorn Hills UMC Members and Friends,

I want to start by saying “Thank You” for these past 2 years – it has been such a joy to worship,

serve, and learn alongside you all! I am so grateful for the good work that we have done

together, and I am so excited about your next chapter that will begin with Pastor Daniel Kipp

on July 1st.

In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi he writes, “I thank my God every time I

remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partner-

ship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a

good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

And that’s my prayer for each of you, that God “who began a good work in you will carry it on

to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Keep finding those creative ways to serve your

community, to reach out to children and youth, to welcome those who are seeking a safe space

to worship, learn, and grow – you’re celebrating 35 years of ministry, but the best is yet to

come!

Have a wonderful summer and thank you for all that you do here at Elkhorn Hills UMC to

make it such a dynamic and vibrant congregation – God bless you and keep you!

With gratitude,

Pastor Rebecca

P.S. Whenever you find yourself in the Old Market, please stop by the Urban Abbey (1026 Jackson Street) to say “hi” and share a cup of coffee or tea!

I did Chapel Time for the Pre-Schoolers a week before they left for summer vaca-tion and it has been, and always is, a real treat. These kids are so cute, smart & spontaneous!

One of the things we did was look at all the fruit on the altar. We noticed how even though it all looked so different, it was all still good fruit.

Then we looked at each other and realized that even though we all look and act different, God loves us all “Exactly the Same”.

I know, Right?

TRUSTEE TIDBITS

HVAC Campaign for 2019 at Elkhorn Hills UMC

Have you ever dressed in layers because it was too cold in the Sanctuary?

Have you ever felt too hot during worship, and not because of the preaching?

If you answered “yes” to either of those questions, we’d love to have you join us for this summer’s Elkhorn Hills HVAC Campaign!

We are planning to start with the replacement of the HVAC units throughout the main building including the Sanc-tuary – and we need your help to make that possible! The Board of Trustees has received several bids for the work and the Finance Committee and Church Council have approved those plans for new 95% efficiency units. The work in other parts of the building will be completed in different phases and as the need arises. (*Please note that the unit in the mezzanine of the Family Life Center will be replaced at another time and with a different campaign – it’s the “big ugly!”)

The goal for this summer’s HVAC Campaign is $100,000.00 (approximately $7,500 per unit) and it will cover the work for all 14 HVAC units in Phase 1, 2, and 3.

BREAKDOWN OF CAMPAIGN PHASES

Phase 1 – Replace 6 units built in the 80’s, one unit will be removed and not replaced. 5 units total. Sanctuary, Sanctuary Overflow, FLC Restrooms, and Conference Room

Phase 2 – Replace 3 units built in 1997. Library, Youth Sunday School Room, Sr. High Room, and FLC Stage

Phase 3 – Replace 5 units built in 2003, 2004, and 2006. Narthex, Sunday School Rooms, and Preschool Rooms – Education Wing

If you’d like to give toward this campaign, please make your check out to “Elkhorn Hills UMC” and note “HVAC Campaign” on the memo line. (*All gifts designated for this work will be used for this work – funds will not be used for general maintenance or other building needs.)

This campaign will run from Sunday, May 5th through Sunday, September 2nd and the work will begin as soon as funds for Phase 1 ($35,000) have been raised!
