Tricky Tree House

Juan and Jeremy were out of school for summer vacation and received permission from their parents to build a tree house in Juan’s backyard. Jeremy’s Uncle Mack donated materials for the tree house. The tree is large enough to fit a 58 sq. foot floor in the tree house. Each boy needs to design a tree house that has an area that is exactly 58 sq. feet. Uncle Mack will choose his favorite design that they will build together.

• What could the height of the tree house be?

• How would the shape be changed if there was a tree stump in the middle of the tree house?
