Editors Introduction

A proper and thorough introduction to this workreally is not possible without an in-depth discussionof American politics in the 1960's - Castro,Vietnam, Communism, John Kennedy's relationshipto the mob and the CIA- and the numerous otherhistorical knots of that time. An introduction is noplace for a subject this vast. However here is a briefover view.

If anyone takes a look at the Warrencommission and investigates its methods, members,and conclusions, and has approached the materialseriously and objectively, they will see that thereare a number of problems. For example, AllenDulles was a member of the Warren Commission,but was also an adversary of John Kennedy and had

been recently dismissed from his post as CIAdirector after the bungled 'Bay of Pigs' invasion ofCuba. At minimum, Dulles's impartiality as aninvestigator is questionable.

The Commissions relation with J. EdgarHoover, and the FBI and their shoddy investigativeskills -investigating irrelevant material, while

leaving crucial, often incriminating evidenceuninvestigated- is quite apparent.

The next obvious problem area is LeeHarvey Oswald. The often believed WarrenCommission theory of his personality and hisprevious career do not match. Oswald was amarine, he received Russian language training, asign of Intelligence training. He defected to Russia

and was allowed back into the United States, as ifnothing had happened! He was deeply submergedin domestic intelligence work prior to theassassination.

The Warren Commission's story of JackRuby is yet another example of shoddyinvestigation. Any reasonable, informed reader willnotice that Jack Ruby was tied in with criminalassets- guns, drugs and prostitution essentially.Equally so Ruby had deep ties with the Dallas

police, and through them connections to deeperpolitical covert groups.At this point I would like to say, "don't

believe the Warren Commission, but equally don'tbelieve me!" Go read, and investigate for yourself!All I can suggest, especially to the noviceconspiracy reader, is to begin by reading the About

the Author (pp. 111-114). Beyond this, my onlyadvice is to read into the topic. A firm base canonly be developed by taking in several view points.The reader may wish to review the titles listed onthe following page as a start. espionage and counter-espionage activities.Actually, Division Five acted dually

with the Defense Intelligence Agency which wasacting on behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in thePentagon. Directly under the two-prongedleadership of Division Five and the DIA was theControl Group, their highly secret policy agency -the Defense Industrial Security Command.

The Defense Industrial SecurityCommand has always been kept secret because it

acts, in addition to its two official controlorganizations, on behalf of NASA, the AtomicEnergy Commission, the U.S. Information Agency,and the arms, equipment, ammunition, munitionsand related miscellaneous supply manufacturingcorporations contracting with NASA, the AEC,USIA, and the Pentagon.

One can readily observe that DISC is notcompatible with an open Democracy and the U.S.Constitution. Consequently, the top secret armsmanufacturers' police agency has been kept fromthe knowledge of even most U.S. officials andCongressmen.

The Defense Industrial Security

Command had its beginnings when J. Edgar Hooverin the early 1930's organized the police force of thefledgling Tennessee Valley Authority at the requestof David Lillienthal. The police force covered theentire TVA from Knoxville, Tennessee throughHuntsville and Florence, Alabama into Kentuckyand back through the eastern portion of Tennesseeinto southern Kentucky. This was one of the first

federal agencies with a separate police force. Thisforce grew and Lillienthal took it forward to coverthe Atomic Energy Commission, thus tying it intothe Army Intelligence Service.

L.M. Bloomfield, a Montreal, CANADAlawyer bearing the reputation as a sex deviate, thedirect supervisor of all contractual agents with J.Edgar Hoover's Division Five, was the top co-ordinator for the network planning the execution. ASwiss corporation, Permindex, was used to head

five front organizations responsible for furnishingpersonnel and supervisors to carry out assignedduties.

The five groups under Permindex andtheir supervisors were:

1. The Czarist Russian, Eastern European and

Middle East exile organization calledSOLIDARISTS, headed by Ferenc Nagy, ex-Hungarian Premier, and John DeMenil, Russianexile from Houston, Texas, a close friend andsupporter of Lyndon Johnson for over thirty years.

2. A section of the AMERICAN COUNCIL OF

CHRISTIAN CHURCHES headed by H.L. Hunt ofDallas, Texas.

3. A Cuban exile group called FREE CUBACOMMITTEE headed by Carlos Prio Socarras, ex-Cuban President.

4. An organization of United States, Caribbean,

and Havana, Cuba gamblers called the Syndicateheaded by Clifford Jones, ex-Lieutenant Governorof Nevada and Democratic NationalCommitteeman, and Bobby Baker of Washington,D.C. This group worked closely with a Mafiafamily headed by Joe Bonnano.

5. The SECURITY DIVISION of the NationalAeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)headed by Wernher Von Braun, head of the German

Nazi rocket program from 1932 through 1945.Headquarters for this group was the DEFENSEINDUSTRIAL SECURITY COMMAND at MuscleShoals Redstone Arsenal in Alabama and on EastBroad Street in Columbus, Ohio.

The Defense Industrial Security

Command is the police and espionage agency forthe U.S. munitions makers. DISC was organized byJ. Edgar Hoover; William Sullivan, his chiefassistant, is in direct command. We shall laterexamine the involvement of a large number of theDISC agents including Clay Shaw, Guy Bannister,David Ferrie, Lee Harvey Oswald, Jack Ruby and

others with Permindex's Louis MortimerBloomfield of Montreal, Canada in charge.

As it must be, all of the preceding factsare established and documented by overwhelmingevidence beyond a reasonable doubt on thefollowing pages.

Gordon Novel obtained the aid of theColumbus office in 1967 when Jim Garrison was

attempting to get him back to Louisiana from Ohio.Personnel of the Defense Intelligence Agency weresubject to assignment with the Defense IndustrialSecurity Command.

The Director of the Federal Bureau ofInvestigation was in charge of NASA's SecurityDivision and the Defense Industrial SecurityCommand in his position as head of counter-espionage activities in the United States. His agentsinvestigated every employee of the space agency as

well as the employees of the pertinent contractorsdoing business with NASA and also prospectiveemployees of every arms and munitionsmanufacturer.

The Defense Intelligence Agency isheaded by Lt. General Joseph F. Carroll, a formerassistant Director of the FBI. Carroll worked

closely with Sullivan, Hoover and L.M. Bloomfieldin directing activities of the munitions-makers'police agency, the Defense Industrial SecurityCommand. Walter Sheridan, whose activities arecovered later, was the direct liaison man betweenCarroll and Robert F. Kennedy during the pertinentperiod.

The address for DISC is 3990 East BroadStreet, Columbus, Ohio. The Field office for theCommand was located at the old Redstone Arsenalin Huntsville and Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Von Braun had been decorated more thanany other Nazi during World War II. Hoover hadworked directly with Von Braun in connection withNASA's security since his arrival in the United

States in December 1945.Lyndon Johnson, as Vice-President, was

Chairman of NASA, and he, Von Braun, BobbyBaker, [and] Fred Black had worked diligently toobtain the nine billion dollar Apollo contract forNorth American Aviation in 1961. NASA awardedthis contract to North American despite the fact thatit went against the recommendation of its ownsource evaluation board.1

Each of the NASA security personnel

who were assigned duties in connection with theassassination were employees or contractees forDivision Five of the FBI and many were connectedwith the other four groups. It must be born in mindthat this was a relatively small group within all ofthese agencies. It was not official, and it was not anAmerican operation, but was simply the

independent action taken by these men, some ofwhom happened to hold official positions.

J. Edgar Hoover was named first Directorof the FBI in 1924, and he immediately organizedthe anti-communist Division Five for espionage andcounter-espionage work which President Rooseveltmade official in 1936. Actually, Division Five was

in existence as the General Intelligence Division ofthe Justice Department since 1919. Hoover, anAssistant Attorney General and head of the GID,had used the Czarist Russians in tracing theBolsheviks during the Red Scare and Palmer raidsof that period.2

1924 was the year the Communists finallytook complete control of Russia after five years of

resistance by the imperial Czarists. From 1918 to1923, the leaders of the Czarists were leavingRussia with vast fortunes by the tens of thousands.One of those escaping Russians was John DeMenil,presently of Houston, Texas, who fled to France,married into the Schlumberger family, moved toCaracas, Venezuela and then to Houston, Texasbefore World War II. He is presently the Chairmanof the Board of Schlumberger Corporation, a world-wide oil well service company.

The forerunners of the Solidarists havebeen described by James Wechsler of the NewYork Post and other writers, before and duringWorld War II, as the Ukrainian Fascists. TheSolidarists expanded this group to include all EastEuropean exiles, including those of variousreligious denominations.

Of course, these Russian exiles in allcountries of the world were violently anti-communist and considered themselves as agovernment in exile with headquarters in Munich,Germany.3 One has only to glance at CzaristRussian history to learn that these people are themost proficient dealers in assassination the world

has ever known.George DeMohrenschildt, a Russian

migr who refused to join the Solidarists and whowas familiar with the workings of espionage groupsand had worked with them in the past, testified thatJ. Edgar Hoover, using Division Five of the FBI,was the planner of the assassination of PresidentKennedy. Through DeMohrenschildt's testimony

before the Commission and his documentation, theconnection of the espionage section of the FBI andthe Assassination has been established.4

The public records of the CorporateRecords Department of Italy and Switzerland,Who's Who in the South and Southwest, 1963,1964, The Invisible Government, The EspionageEstablishment by Wise and Ross, Buddy Floydmurder files, Alice Texas, Warren Commission 26volumes., the Grand Jury records of New Orleans

Parish, New Orleans Louisiana, all furthersubstantiate, bolster, and corroborate the testimonyof DeMohrenschildt concerning the FBI's DivisionFive's involvement.

Many examiners of the case haveconcluded that George DeMohrenschildt was a partof the conspiracy because of his close association

with Oswald during the fall of 1962, and winter andearly spring of 1963, but a close reading of theRussian exile's testimony before the WarrenCommission shows that DeMohrenschildt wasbeing used by the Solidarists the same as Oswaldwas being used, and was to have been tied in withOswald; in connection with the assassination.

However, DeMohrenschildt, a highly polishedprofessional geologist, saved himself by moving toHaiti in April of 1963 in connection with a contractwith the government of Haiti, where he still residedon the day of the assassination of PresidentKennedy.

DeMohrenschildt, in retrospect, knew thatDivision Five of the FBI and the Solidarists had

intended to use him as a scapegoat along withOswald, and he did not hesitate to name the smallgroup within the Federal Bureau of Investigation asthe instigators of the assassination of PresidentKennedy. 5

Concerning the Solidarists, Jack Rubywas a second generation immigrant from the WhiteRussian area of Poland and his brother, HymanRubenstein, was born there. Ralph Paul, Ruby'sDallas partner in the Carousel Club, was a Russian

immigrant having been born in Kiev, Russia. 6While in confinement, Jack Ruby said inletters later authenticated by Hamilton Autographs,New York City, that pogroms against the Jews inthis country were a real threat. He repeated overand over the words "pogroms against the Jews" inthese letters and in a number of habeas corpus

hearings in Federal District Court in Dallas, and atthe same time, he testified that Lyndon Johnson wasthe head of the organization carrying out theassassination plans. Ruby's testimony is acceptablein every court as an accomplice witness needingonly corroboration in so far as his naming LyndonJohnson as one of the accomplices. This has been

done.Ruby's constant use of the words

"pogroms against the Jews" reveal his closeaffiliation with and his deeply ingrained awarenessof his family's Russian Czarist background.Everyone even slightly conversant with Russianhistory knows that the words "pogroms against theJews" are exclusively descriptive of the Czarist

Russian Cossacks pillaging and killing of Jews intheir villages and neighborhoods in Russia duringthe centuries under the Czars. But to return to J.Edgar Hoover's connection with the CzaristRussians in exile.

With the Solidarists' vast number ofagents within Russia and the common anti-communist objectives with J. Edgar Hoover, thesetwo groups immediately merged and havecontinually worked almost as one since that time.

In 1960, when it was determined that Castro was aCommunist, he too was considered an occupyingforce, and the Cuban exiles with the common causeworked quite naturally into the Solidarist andDivision Five organizations.

Another organization participating withDivision Five was a religious group called the

American Council of Christian Churches. A. C. C.C.'s West Coast representative, E.E. Bradley, wasindicted by the New Orleans Grand Jury forcomplicity in the assassination. A.C.C.C. launcheda campaign in 1964, at J. Edgar Hoover's request,to elect him President of the United States. 7

In 1941, J. Edgar Hoover had his good

friend and agent, Carl McIntire, organize theespionage and intelligence unit under the covername "American Council of Christian Churches"with the headquarters in New York City. Thisgroup was able to take in many innocent religiousgroups who did not know they were connected witha spy and propaganda agency. However, Hooverand McIntire through this guise were able to place

agents posing as ministers and missionariesthroughout the United States and most LatinAmerican countries. We will examine theinvolvement of this group's agents later. 8

HOOVER was joined in the cabal tomurder President Kennedy by LYNDONJOHNSON, WALTER JENKINS, Johnson'sassistant, FRED KORTH (whom Kennedy hadfired as Secretary of the Navy some two weeksbefore November 22), H.L. HUNT of A.C.C.C,

JEAN DEMENIL, Houston multi-millionaire, headof Schlumberger, and a director of the Russian exileSolidarists, CARLOS PRIO SOCARRAS, ex-Cuban president and long time gambling partner ofJack Ruby and director of the anti-Castro Cubans,BOBBY BAKER, ex-Senate Secretary, ROY M.COHEN, New York attorney and head of the

Jewish League Against Communism, CLIFFORDJONES, ex-Lieutenant Governor of Nevada,Democratic National Committeeman, and businesspartner with Bobby Baker and L.J. McWillie, L.J.MCWILLIE, of Las Vegas, Nevada a partner inHavana gambling with Ruby and Jones, L.M.BLOOMFIELD of Montreal, a long time friend and

agent of J. Edgar Hoover, FERENC NAGY, ex-Premier of Hungary, WERNHER VON BRAUN,German Nazi rocket engineer whom Hitlerpersonally decorated for his work in slaughteringover 7,000 Allies during World War II, JOHNCONNALLY and CLINT MURCHISON, SR.9

L.J. McWillie, who earlier had been apartner in the Havana, Cuba gambling casino with

Jack Ruby, Clifford Jones and ex-Cuban President,Carlos Prio Socarras, in 1962 entered a newbusiness arrangement with Clifford Jones andBobby Baker at the Thunderbird Hotel Casino inLas Vegas. 10 The Warren Commission uncoveredincontrovertible evidence that Ruby and McWilliewere the closest friends and business associates forover fifteen years. Ruby and Ray Brantly of Dallas,the Warren Commission discovered, had sent anumber of Cobra guns to McWillie in Havana in

1958, but Ruby and McWillie had been gun runnersfor years. 11The complicity of Carlos Prio Socarras,

President of Cuba from 1948 to 1952, with theassassination group was documented andauthenticated in the official volumes of the WarrenCommission Hearings in volume XXVI at page

634:

December 1, 1963

AT T-2 advised on November 29, 1963, . . . .stated that in the . . . 1950's, Jack Ruby heldinterest in the Colonial Inn, a nightclub and

gambling house in Hollandale, Florida. Hestated that Jack Ruby, known then asRubenstein, was active in arranging illegalflights of weapons from Miami to the Castroorganization in Cuba. According to T-2, Rubywas reportedly part owner of two planes usedfor these purposes.

T-2 further stated that Ruby subsequently leftMiami and purchased a substantial share in aHavana gambling house in which one CarlosPrio. . . . was principal owner. T-2 stated thatCarlos Prio was within favor of former Cubanleader Batista, but was instrumental infinancing and managing accumulation ofarms by pro-Castro forces . . .

On page 650 of the same volume, a

revealing document is found connecting Prio, Ruby,and Robert Ray McKeown, the gun-runner whowas to work with Ruby in shipping the surplusjeeps to Cuba in 1959, T. Gonzales, who rode thebus into Mexico with Oswald, and Ramos, whostayed at the Hotel Commercia in Mexico City withOswald. The document follows:

Information concerning reported contactbetween Jack L. Ruby and Robert RayMcKeown was furnished by President'sCommission on March 2, 1964. . . .

Files reveal that McKeown was one of the

subjects in an extensive investigation . .concerning the activities of Carlos Prio. . . .Prio, a former President of Cuba . . . wasengaged with others, including McKeown, inattempting to assist Castro in hisrevolutionary action against the Batistaregime in Cuba. . . .

Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Unit, Bureau ofInternal Revenue, continued the investigationin this matter and charged variousindividuals, including McKeown, withconspiracy to smuggle guns and relatedequipment to Cuba. The defendants in thisaction were as follows:

The arms and ammunitions beingsmuggled to Castro at the time and later to anti-Castro Cubans by McKeown, Ruby, Prio, and theirNew Orleans associates were obtained principally

from the Redstone Arsenal in the Florence, MuscleShoals, and Huntsville area of Alabama, and to alesser extent from the Pine Bluff, Arkansas arsenal.The orders for these men and direction for theiractivities came from the office of the DefenseIndustrial Security Command, the munitionsmakers secret police agency at Redstone. 14

the twenty-six volumes of evidence taken before theWarren Commission. A large group of thesewitnesses testified concerning Jack Ruby's presenceand gun running activities in Islamorada, Florida in1958.

Islamorada is located on the Florida Keys,which DeMenil and Schlumberger have for a longtime used as a shipping point for arms due to itsproximity to Cuba.

We quote from the testimony of the

witnesses:

MRS. MARY THOMPSON, 1155 Dupont,Kalamazoo, Michigan, states as follows:

On about May 30, 1958, she travelledto Islamorada, Florida, accompanied by herdaughter and son-in-law, DOLORES and

RICHARD RHOADS. They visited herbrother and sister-in-law, JAMES and MARYLOU 'BUTCH' WOODARD, who resided ina cottage, address not known, which waslocated behind the cottage of TEDWILLIAMS, well-known professionalbaseball player. While there, they met JACK

and ISABEL (last name unknown),acquaintances of the WOODARDS. Therewas not sufficient room in the WOODARDcottage and JACK and ISABEL suggestedthat DOLORES and RICHARD spend thenight at their home. The offer was acceptedand it was determined that JACK andISABEL lived in a small motel situated on a

white coral pier, which was reached bycrossing an old bridge.

. . . . . MARY LOU said that JACKwas originally from Chicago, Illinois, andreportedly had killed a couple of men. Helater ran a drinking place in Dallas, Texas,where he became acquainted with JAMESWOODARD, who was a member of theDallas, Texas Police Department for a short

time in 1954 . . . .

MARY LOU said that JACK had atrunk full of guns and ... that JACK was goingto supply them to the Cubans. MRS.THOMPSON stated that she was told thatthere were supplies of guns hidden in the

marshes. . . .15

Mary Thompson and six members of herfamily identified Jack Ruby as being the personinvolved in the gun running in Florida in 1958. Butthe Warren Commission had already uncovered onehundred fifty unimpeached witnesses who put Jack

Ruby in the Cuban gun running business for overtwelve years preceding 1963.

Let us return to the involvement of CarlosPrio Socarras. On November 20, 1963, SalvadorDiaz Verson proceeded to Mexico City at thedirection of Carlos Prio. In Mexico City, Diazimmediately after the assassination fed thefollowing story to the world news media:

Dr. Angel Fernandez Varela stated thatwhen Diaz Verson returned to Miami from MexicoCity in the latter part of November 1963, DiazVerson advised him that while in Mexico City hehad had contact with other newspapermen there andhad learned that the Mexican Federal Police hadarrested a Mexican citizen, Sylvia Duran, anemployee of the Cuban Embassy in Mexico City,because of her connection between Oswald and theCuban Embassy. 16

Dr. Fernandez said Diaz Verson also toldhim that Oswald had stayed at the home of Duran,and subsequently met with the Cuban Ambassadorin Mexico City at a restaurant called Caballo Bayo,accompanied by Sylvia Duran. Dr. Fernandez saidhe understood from Diaz Verson that Duran, theCuban Ambassador to Mexico, whose name

Fernandez did not know, and Oswald, reportedlywent for a ride together in a car. Dr. Fernandez saidthat the federal police in Mexico City reportedlyhad turned over the information concerning theseincidents involving Oswald; to the United StatesEmbassy in Mexico City. 17

Salvador Diaz Verson had been Prio's

Chief of Military Intelligence Service during theCuban presidency of Prio from 1948 through 1952.Diaz and Prio together had worked for the DefenseIndustrial Security Command since coming to theU.S. after Castro embraced Communism. 18

The anti-Castro Cuban part of the planwas to tie the Castro regime into the murder ofKennedy and thus to have the U. S. military give

all service to the overthrow of Castro.Another connection of Carlos Prio

Socarras and the assassination unit was uncoveredby the Warren Commission. This evidenceconcerned Dr. Cesar Fernandez, Prio's Minister ofInformation during his presidency of Cuba. Prioand Fernandez in addition had been close lifetimefriends and Prio obtained Fernandez employmentwith the Defense Industrial Security Command.

The following was confirmed by the

daughter of the witness in all respects, she havingbeen shown the documents of Mrs. Hoover inOctober, 1963. Here is the story of Prio's friend,Fernandez.

On November 27, 1963, CorporalTheodore La Zar, Pennsylvania State Police,Hollidaysburg, Pa., advised that at approximately

10:00 pm on November 27, 1963, Robert Steele,316 Brayton Avenue, Altoona, Pa., stopped at thePennsylvania State Police Barracks and advised thathe was the brother of Margaret Kathryn Hoover,105 S. Walnut St., Martinsburg, Pa., and had thefollowing information to offer concerning theassassination of President Kennedy which he had

received from her. 19During the third week in October, 1963,

Mrs. Hoover who lives in a second-story apartment,105 S. Walnut St., Martinsburg, Pa., located threeitems in the dry leaves immediately below herupstairs porch. This porch and Mrs. Hoover'sresidence are located at the rear of a lot containingtwo homes. The home at the rear is occupied by

Mrs. Hoover and the home in the front of the lot,which was formerly occupied by Mrs. Hoover, isknown as 400 E. Allegheny St., Martinsburg, Pa.,and for the past two months has been occupied byDr. Julio Fernandez, a Cuban refugee, who ispresently teaching at the Morrison Cove JuniorHigh School, Martinsburg. 20

These items consisted of an envelopeused for tickets from the Seaboard Airline RailroadCompany, Miami, Fla.; a used ticket which was

enclosed therein indicating the holder had a coachreservation on the railroad, seat number 48, carnumber 3E, on a train leaving Miami, Fla., at 12:40pm on September 25, 1963, and arriving inWashington, D.C., the following date. This ticketbore the number, D-214332. Also in the leaves wasa throw-away advertisement, commonly used in

advertising trailers, which was found by Mrs.Hoover. Penciled on the back of this throw-away,which contained no handwriting, were thefollowing notations:

The upper left hand corner containedthe name of a club, unrecalled by Mrs.

Hoover, and a six digit number there underwhich contained either an address or atelephone number. 21

J. Edgar Hoover, Ferenc Nagy, Clay Shaw,

L.M. Bloomfield, and Permindex

Clay Shaw, the defendant in the NewOrleans assassination case and L.M. Bloomfield ofMontreal, Canada, were the only North Americanmembers of both the Board of Directors ofPermindex and Centro-Mondiale Comerciale.

Shaw had been one of the incorporators of theSwiss corporation, Permindex. 26 The othermembers of the Board include a publisher of theFascist National-Zeitung in West Germany, anItalian industrialist who married into the family ofAdolph Hitler's finance minister, and a Romelawyer, the Secretary of the Fascist Party. 27

Also on the Board of Permindex wasFerenc Nagy, a Solidarist and Prime Minister ofHungary from 1946 to 1947; George Mandel, aliasMantello, a Hungarian Fascist who supervisedattempts to purchase national monuments for realestate development in Italy, and Munir Chourbagi,an uncle of King Farouk. Chourbagi was the victim

in a recent murder in Italy. 28The ruling clique of Permindex and its

two subsidiaries, the Italo American HotelCorporation and Centro Mondiale Comerciale, inaddition to the sophisticated Nazis and Fascistsheretofore named, were Gutierez di Spadafora, whowas Under-Secretary of Agriculture in Mussolini'sFascist regime and who was also a ruling lord in the

On December 1, 1962, the representativeof the publication, Who's Who in the South andSouthwest, was told by Clay Shaw in New Orleansthat he was a director for the Swiss Corporation,

Permindex. Shaw was also one of the directors forCentro Mondiale Comerciale of Rome. As we shallsee later, one purpose of Permindex was thefunding of the 1961 and 1962 assassinationattempts on DeGaulle.

Both firms being directed by the samemen, the stated corporate purpose was to encourage

trade between nations. Their actual purpose wasfourfold:

1. To fund and direct assassination ofEuropean, Mid-East and world leadersconsidered threats to the Western World andto petroleum interests of the backers.

2. To furnish couriers, agents, andmanagement in transporting, depositing andre-channelling funds through Swiss banks forLas Vegas, Miami, Havana and internationalgambling syndicate.3. To co-ordinate the espionage activities ofthe Solidarists and Division Five of the FBIwith groups in sympathy with their objectives

Connally, Paul Raigorodsky and Jean DeMenilwere close friends and business associates. Thewere members of an exclusive club in NorthernJamaica. The name of the club was Tryall locatedon Montego Bay. Bill Stephenson, former head ofBritish Intelligence in the U.S., started in the club in1946. Connally, DeMenil and Raigorodsky owned

and still own palatial retreats within the tightlyguarded Tryall compound. L.M. Bloomfield metwith the three on numerous occasions at Tryall inJamaica. 32

Among Connally's assigned duties wasthe keeping of Texas police agencies in line afterthe murder. John Connally was an active participant

in the assassination plans, but he was one of theagents whose over-all knowledge was limited bythe "need to know basis".

One of the banks through which theAmerican backers channelled funds to Permindexwas Astaldo Vaduz in Miami, Florida. As a matterof fact, the Miami bank was owned and controlledby the Permindex financiers and board members.

The European banks handling the accounts were DeFamaco Vaduz, Liechtenstein, Credit Bank ofGeneva, Switzerland, (Credit Bank and CreditSuisse are one and the same), Banca Nazionale delLavoro of Italy, De Famaco Astalde Vaduz,Switzerland and Seligman Bank of Basal,Switzerland. The attorney for the transactionsthrough the Miami bank was Alex Carlson, Double-Chek's Miami Springs manager. 33

Alex Carlson turned the entire CIA

Double-Chek organization and personnel over toDivision Five of the FBI to work for Permindex inexecuting the assassination thus causing manyastute observers to mistakenly believe the CIAcarried out the affair.

L.M. Bloomfield, a lawyer of Montreal,Canada and a long time friend and confidant of J.

Edgar Hoover, has been Hoover's contractsupervisor of Division Five since his days in theO.S.S. before World War II. Bloomfield held one-half of the shares of Permindex and was in totalcommand of its operation in Europe and Africa aswell as the North and South American continents.He was the co-ordinator of all activities responsible

only to Hoover and Johnson in carrying out theplans for John Kennedy's assassination. 34

Bloomfield ordered Permindex's FerencNagy and George Mandel, alias Giorgio Mantello,to the United States in 1962 where they helped tosupervise the plans. Mandell was assigned to theLos Angeles, California area. Ferenc Nagy, formerPremier of Hungary in 1946 and 1947, settled in

Hunt, IgorVoshinin, George Bouhe, Peter Gregory of FortWorth, Paul Raigorodsky and other members of theSolidarists and took command of actual planning inthe Southwest. It should be pointed out thatalthough the White Russians were dominant in theSolidarists, it contained East Europeans, Jewish andOrthodox Christians and even Arabic nationalswhose countries had been taken over byCommunism. 35

Nagy in Dallas over the months beforeNovember 22, 1963, worked with Carlos PrioSocarras and Alex Carlson in Miami, Clay Shaw inNew Orleans, John DeMenil in Houston, CliffordJones and L.J. McWillie in Las Vegas, BobbyBaker and Fred Korth in Washington, D.C., AlbertOsborne, alias J.H. Bowen, of Laredo, Texas and

Mexico, Roy Cohn in New York City, and othersall under the direction of L.M. Bloomfield inmaking the plans and preparations. 36

Albert Osborne, the missionarysupervisor of the professional assassins, met Nagyin Laredo, Texas a short time before the Novemberdate. The details of the movement of the

professionals were worked out and Osborne thentravelled to Montreal where he conferred with hisdirect boss of over twenty years, L.M. Bloomfield.37

On November 22, Osborne and about tenof his riflemen were living at 3126 Harlendale inOak Cliff, a section of Dallas. Three of hisprofessionals were at Tammie True's house in Fort

Cherry, Patrick Hoy, David Hoy, James Powell anda number of others with limited assignmentsinformed only enough to carry out the assignmentswith dispatch.

There were others involved also, but thepublished evidence up to 1969 is such that it wouldbe unfair to name them.

Substantially the same managementunder Bloomfield of Montreal and J. Edgar Hooverplanned and carried out the execution of Martin

Luther King and Robert F. Kennedy. AlbertOsborne had his riflemen in Memphis and one ofhis professionals fired the fatal shot at King. Raywas used as Oswald had earlier been used.

The book, The Strange Case of JamesEarl Ray reveals that Ray was a persistent visitor tothe International Trade Mart in New Orleans 39

just prior to the killing 40 and that the real assassinof King entered the naval base near Memphis,Tennessee, where Division Five maintains aheadquarters, only minutes after King'sassassination. He was in the white Mustanginvolved in the mysterious chase described onpolice radio immediately after the killing. 41

On August 4, 1969, James Earl Rayconfirmed that Division Five of the FBI was used inthe slaying of Martin Luther King, Jr. He stated onthat date that Dr. King was killed by federal agentsand that they used him to be a fall guy. 42

Roy Cohn, General John Medaris, Joe Bonanno,

L.M. Bloomfield, the Syndicate and the Mafia

Roy M. Cohn, using a representative ofIntercontinental Company of Garland, Texas, asubsidiary of Lionel Corporation, provided a Dallaslocated agent to work with Ferenc Nagy. This agentwas Ramon Buenrostro Cortez. Others with Cortez

in Texas were Lorenzo Saunders and a Cuban exile,Ignacio Hernandez Garcia, alias Fernandez Feito.43

In the September 5, 1969 issue of LIFEMagazine, it was reported that J. Edgar Hooverpunished three of his FBI agents in New York forcooperating with the United States District Attorney

in New York, Robert Morgenthau, in hisprosecution against Roy M. Cohn on a number offelony charges. The LIFE report has this to say:

During the McCarthy inquisitions of the early1950's, Cohn, as Senator McCarthy's chiefcounsel, had worked closely with (Louis B.)

Nichols and the FBI in developing casesagainst suspected Communists. Agents spentweeks screening FBI security files andextracting them in memos for Cohn duringthe prolonged hearings. Through these yearsCohn's friendship with Director Hoover alsodeveloped, and this was further cemented bytheir mutual regard for the multimillionaire

boss of the huge Schenley distillery complex,Lewis Rosenstiel. (Cohn to this day addressesRosenstiel variously as "commander-in-chief"or "supreme commander" and Rosenstielrefers to his younger friend as "fieldcommander" or "sergeant major").

When Nichols decided to retire from the FBIin 1957, Cohn set out to land him a job withSchenley. He had the willing support of

another Rosenstiel friend, the lateconservative columnist George Sokolsky, forwhom Nichols represented 100% anti-Communist Americanism. At a social eveningin August, 1967, Cohn and Sokolsky agreedto try to sell Nichols to Rosenstiel as primeexecutive timber. The next night they made

their pitch to Rosenstiel. Nichols, Cohncontended, was a genius, truly "one of thegreatest men in America", whereuponRosenstiel dispatched the Schenley privateplane to Washington to fly Nichols and hiswife to a conference at Rosenstiel'sGreenwich, Conn. estate. Under Cohn's

continued urging, Rosenstiel agreed to giveNichols a 10-year contract at $100,000 a year,plus stock options, in addition to arranging forSchenley's to buy and furnish a Manhattanapartment for Nichols. The whole packagehad to be an impressive introduction tocorporate business for a middle-aged FBI manwho had spent most of his adult life as a

modestly paid public servant. Nichols laterbecame executive vice president in charge ofcorporate development and public affairs andwas elected to the Schenley board.

. . . Hoover personally ordered the threeagents transferred out of New York. On May2, each received a letter of censure and wasgiven 30 days to report to his new post -(Donald) Jones to go to St. Louis, (Russell)

Sullivan to Louisville, and (Jack) Knox toPittsburgh.

Bureau men are accustomed to beingordered around in a fairly peremptory way,but such disciplinary transfers usually have agloss of logic. This time the men were being

moved for doing what in essence they werepaid to do - helping a U.S. Attorney protecthis case. The ensuing rumble of protest wasso loud that it could be heard even outside theBureau, which virtually never happens.Morgenthau was furious. He confrontedAssistant FBI Director John F. Malone, the

top man in the New York field office, andMalone promptly reported the confrontationto Washington. The next day Hooverpersonally directed the New York field officeto inform the three wayward agents that theynow had until midnight the following day - 36hours in all - to report to their new stations,which they did.

LIFE went on to say: "Cohn has cultivated along friendship with Edwin Weisl, PresidentJohnson's handpicked ambassador to New York'sDemocratic party. Weisl .... is a frequent Cohnluncheon companion."

Weisl was a long time friend of Johnson. Asa matter of fact, during the 1950's, Weisl was thegeneral counsel to the Senate Space Committee andhe and Johnson were constantly together along with

General John B. Medaris, then head of the ArmySpace Program. Among other groups, Medaris,during this program, had been in charge of WernherVon Braun and the other Nazi space scientists atHuntsville, Alabama. 44

From 1960 to 1963, the ruling hierarchy ofLionel Corporation was General John B. Medaris,

Roy Cohn and Joe Bonanno (Joe Bananas), a topMafia man from New York, Las Vegas, Tucson andMontreal, Canada. Lionel Corporation during thisperiod did over ninety percent of their business withthe space agency and army ordnance furnishingsuch items as electronic equipment, rocket parts,chemical warfare agents and flame throwers. Also,

during this period, General Medaris, though havingretired in 1960, remained on active duty as specialadvisor to Army Intelligence in the Pentagon. 45

The Lionel Corporation management was indirect contact with Louis Mortimer Bloomfieldwho, among other things, was a lawyer with officesin Tangiers, Morocco and Paris, France. Bloomfield

General Medaris was a director of one of theland speculation companies of Bobby Baker andSenator George Smathers in Florida. Joe Bonanno(Joe Bananas) in his capacity as a Mafia leader, wasassociated in the Havana and Las Vegas gamblingwith L.J. McWillie, Clifford Jones and others. 46

In addition to J. Edgar Hoover's closeassociation with Roy Cohn, he was also a long time

friend of General Medaris. Joe Bonanno (JoeBananas) had been a personal informer for J. EdgarHoover for over a decade during 1963.47

Grant Stockdale, ex-United StatesAmbassador to Ireland and former GeorgeSmathers Administrative Assistant and a stockholder and officer in Bobby Baker's vending

machine and Florida land transactions, knew andwas closely associated with almost all of the topfigures in the cabal. 48

Shortly after President Kennedy'sassassination on November 22, 1963, GrantStockdale was pushed, shoved or fell from thefourteenth story of a Miami building and was killed

immediately in the fall. As an officer in the BobbyBaker enterprises, Grant Stockdale had particularknowledge of a good part of the workings of thecabal and his death was one of a series madenecessary to protect the group from publicexposure.

A number of the conspirators' connectionsin the early 1960's and the various connections,

organizations and financial conduits were revealedin books published in 1969. Donald R. Cresseyrevealed in his work, Theft of a Nation, that a"Lelow" was the top guy of the Joseph L. Bonannogroup in Montreal, Canada. The name wasoverheard on a telephone tap and it is believed to beLazlo Nagy, a close relative of Ferenc Nagy. There,it is also revealed, "the Bonanno family has fordecades had other interests in Montreal which is abet taking lay-off center for U.S. bookmakers and

lay-off men re-insure their bets."All of the investigators looking into LouisMortimer Bloomfield's activities in connection withPermindex, the Swiss corporation, reported him as abanker in Montreal, Canada. He is not a banker assuch, but a bet lay-off man is always referred to as abanker and this is where the confusion came. In

fact, Bloomfield, as has been shown before, was thecontract agent in charge of Division Five, theespionage agency of J. Edgar Hoover, and was aMontreal lawyer with offices in Paris, France, andTangiers, Morocco. 49

Ed Reid, in The Grim Reapers, reveals oneof the other subsidiaries of CREDIT SUISSE andconduits through funds were funnelled. There theconnection of Bobby Baker, Morris Dalitz, CliffJones and others in the conspiracy and theirconnections with the conduits are shown. The

principle funding agency for Permindex was theCredit Bank of Geneva, also known as CreditSuisse. 50

The Syndicate Caribbean money structure ispartially represented by the Bank of WorldCommerce, Ltd., which was incorporated in 1961under British law in Nassau, Bahamas. Nevada'sCliff Jones and Ed Levinson were listed as

stockholders. Tied into the whole structure was afirm known in 1961 as Allied Empire, Inc.,formerly Allied Television Films, Inc., of BeverlyHills, California. At that time Allied Empire waslisted as a corporate stockholder with ten thousandshares of Bank of World Commerce stock, and wasthe holding company for the bank. 51

The financial structure has myriadconnections. A score of Las Vegas gamblers andstate and federal politicians were involved in the

setup through Anjon Savings and Loan, accountNumber 804, and Merritt Savings and Loan ofBaltimore, Maryland, which was bought out byAnjon Account Number 804. By means of anetwork of American and British corporate laws,Account Number 804's list of depositor-stockholders includes not only the Bank of World

Commerce - $23,000 - but also a number of LasVegans. When all the records are put together, wefind that the names of a number of individualsinvolved show up again and again in the complexweb of gambling operations in various places on theNorth American continent and form compass pointswhich chart a course to the truth of the operation.

Account Number 804 listed among itsstockholders: Irving Devine, Las Vegas gamblerwhose wife was named by LIFE as a mob courier,Clifford Jones, Edward Levinson, John Pullman,one time president, Bank of World Commerce,M.A. Riddle, B.E. Seigelbaum and Sav-WayInvestment Company.

The persons holding office and stock in theBank of World Commerce at the time of itsinception were: John Pullman, president anddirector; Edward Dawson Roberts, vice-presidentand director; Gerald Nelson Capps, secretary andtreasurer; N. Roberts, director; Alvin I. Malnic,director, and Philip J Mathew, director. Among thestockholders were; Leon C. Bloom, Jr., Clifford A.Jones, John Pullman, Irving Devine, EdwardLevinson and Allied Empire, Inc.

On September 8, 1967, two of theindividuals involved with the Bank of WorldCommerce and Anjon Savings and Loan, AccountNumber 804, were named by LIFE as "bagmen" forMeyer Lansky in the syndicate's far-flung gamblingkingdom. A third, an alleged "bagwoman", is thewife of one of the Bank of World Commerce

stockholders. Cash was carried by these people andothers, the article stated, via the Bank of WorldCommerce into the financial arteries of anorganization in the Bahamas known as the AtlasBank, a working subsidiary of the CREDITSUISSE in Berne, Switzerland. All three of theboards of directors and staffs of these money

entities were what LIFE described as "studded withboth skimmers and couriers" for the mob. 52

Among the fund couriers listed was BenSigelbaum (Seigelbaum), sixty-five years old,political advisor and a long time associate of EdLevinson in many of his business endeavours.Sigelbaum was also a business associate andconfidant of Bobby Baker when the latter was

He now lives in Switzerland. Anothercourier was Sylvain Ferdmann, a thirty-three yearold Swiss citizen described as in internationalbanker and economist and, by U.S. authorities, as a

fugitive accused of interfering with federal inquiriesinto the skimming racket in Las Vegas andelsewhere. 53

Ida Devine, wife of Las Vegas gamblerIrving (Niggy) Devine, traveled with Sigelbaumfrom Las Vegas to Miami with skimmed money forLansky; Ferdmann is said to have carried the skim

from the Bahamas to Lansky; and Lansky countedthe money in Miami, took his own cut anddispensed other sums, via different couriers, to afew syndicate chieftains in the United States. Atthat point, the story went on, Ferdmann andPullman carried the remainder of the funds to theCREDIT SUISSE in Berne, Switzerland and

deposited them in numbered accounts in the Swisshaven for secret-money banking. 54

An active part in the whole affair wascarried out by Ferdmann, who organized the AtlasBank as the Bahamas subsidiary of the CREDITSUISSE of Berne, Switzerland. The foregoingfurther confirms, Bloomfield, Permindex, Double-Chek and the connections with the same group as

was connected earlier in Credit Bank of Genevawhich is one and the same as CREDIT SUISSE,Miami Astaldo Vaduz, Double-Chek, Alex Carlsonand the other Swiss and Liechtenstein Banks.

Fred Black of Washington, D.C. was alobbyist for North American Aircraft and businessassociate with Bobby Baker and Clifford Jones.Black has confirmed the connection between Jones,McWillie, Baker, Ruby and ex-Cuban President,Prio. 55

After November 22, l963, Black publiclytold many people in Washington, D.C. he hadinformed J. Edgar Hoover that an income taxconviction against him must be reversed or hewould blow the lid off Washington with revelationsof the assassination conspirators. 56

Lobbyist Black prevailed upon J. Edgar

Hoover to admit error before the Supreme Courtwhere his case was reversed in 1966.57

Hoover did well to rescue Black from theconviction. Fred Black, while socially drinking withacquaintances in Washington has, on numerousoccasions, been reported to have told of J. EdgarHoover's and Bobby Baker's involvement in the

assassination through Las Vegas, Miami andHavana gamblers. He named some of these as theFox Brothers of Miami, McLaney of Las Vegas,New Orleans, Havana and Bahamas, Cliff Jones ofLas Vegas, Carlos Prio Socarras of Havana, BobbyBaker and others. He stated there was also aconnection in that some of the gamblers wereRussian migrs. 58

Don Reynolds, Washington, D.C.businessman and associate of Bobby Baker andwho had a number of questionable businesstransactions with Walter Jenkins on behalf ofLyndon Johnson, also gave testimony concerningBobby Baker's involvement with the principals andhe has stated on numerous public occasions that thisgroup was behind the assassination of PresidentJohn F. Kennedy. 59

Black was a stockholder with Baker in the

Waikiki Savings & Loan Association in Honolulu.The other members were Clifford Jones and his lawpartner, Louis Weiner. There was the Farmers andMerchants State Bank in Tulsa where Jones joinedBaker and Black in a stock deal and brought in aMiami pal by the name of Benny Sigelbaum, acourier of funds and documents to the Swiss banks

for Permindex and the Syndicate. 60Of all the enterprises, none could compare

with the controversial Serv-U Corp., a Baker-Blackcontrolled vending- machine firm. Ed Levinson,president of the Fremont Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada,was also a partner. Grant Stockdale, President ofServ-U and his money is covered later. 61

Formed late in 1961, Serve-U Corporationprovided vending machines for the automaticdispensing of food and drink in companies workingon government contracts. In the next two years,Serv-U was awarded the lion-share of the vendingbusiness at three major aerospace firms - NorthAmerican Aviation, Northrop Corporation and

Baker and Black each bought stock in thecompany for $1 a share, while the others paidapproximately $16 a share. Early in 1963 whenBaker's Carousel Motel in Ocean City, Md. ran intofinancial difficulties, it was bought by Ser-U for $1million. 63

McWillie, Baker and Jones were involved innumerous transactions together, one of which was

the incorporation of Greatamerica, theconglomerate company. The incorporating papersin Carson City, Nevada dated April 27, 1962 listsAbe Fortas as vice-president, general counsel anddirector. There is not sufficient evidence madepublic yet to connect Fortas with the assassinationconspiracy.

One of the incorporators of Greatamericawas Clifford A. Jones, Nevada Lieutenant Governorfrom 1945-54 and a part owner and officer of theThunderbird Hotel in Las Vegas. The gamblinglicense issued to Jones and a partner in the hotelwas revoked by the Nevada Tax Commission in1955 on grounds that underworld figures had

interests in the hotel. The decision was lateroverturned by the Nevada Supreme Court. 64

On January 5, 1966, Clifford Jones wasindicted for perjury in connection with the grandjury investigation of Bobby Baker, former secretaryto Senate Democrats. 65

Baker was indicted the same day forconspiracy, tax evasion and fraudulently converting

to his own use nearly $100,000 from Californiasavings and loan executives who thought they weremaking political contributions. 66

Clifford Jones was named a co-conspiratorin that indictment. Baker was later convicted offailing to pay tax on the $100,000. Jones' case hadnot come to trial as of the summer of 1969.67

Abe Fortas was Baker's attorney untilJohnson became President in 1963. At that time hewithdrew from the case. 68 The two other

incorporators of Greatamerica were Helen Irvingand Katherine Waldman, both of Las Vegas, andboth also listed as directors of a Las Vegas concernwhich got a gambling license in June, 1964. Thesame three incorporators - Jones and the twowomen - were listed as incorporators whenGreatamerica filed to do business in Texas on

January 29, 1963, records in the Texas Secretary ofState's Office in Austin showed. 69

Troy Post of Dallas, Texas was theoriginator of Greatamerica. It was Troy Postworking with Bobby Baker and Clifford Jones whoput the conglomerate together. Edward Levinson ofthe Freemont Hotel in Las Vegas was associated

with Bobby Baker, Clifford Jones and L.J.McWillie in the plans for the assassination ofPresident Kennedy. Levinson refused to answer anyquestions before the Senate Committeeinvestigating the Bobby Baker case in 1964. Hetook the fifth amendment seventy-five times.

Levinson and Morris Dalitz of the DesertInn and Stardust in Las Vegas were also connected

with Carlos Prio Socarras, ex-Cuban President, andCliff Jones in all Havana gambling before and afterCastro took control.

Morris Dalitz, Roy M. Cohn, H.L. Hunt andJ. Edgar Hoover had worked together for years inthe anti- Communist movement. They had beenactive as a group for the Joe McCarthyinvestigations during the early 1950's.70 MorrisDalitz, for years had been the head of theCleveland, Ohio underworld and as such had been a

business partner of Joe Bonanno of the Mafia andLionel Corporation. Dalitz and Bonanno had been aconstant target of Robert Kennedy in his organizedcrime fight. We shall later look into Bonanno'sactivities and connections.

Ed Reid in his 1969 book, The GrimReapers, published a picture of Lyndon Johnson at

Morris Dalitz' Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada,taken when Johnson and Bobby Baker met withDalitz prior to the assassination. Johnson and Dalitzwere photographed together a number of timesduring the important Las Vegas meeting. Also atthe meeting with Johnson, Baker and Dalitz, thehost, were Ed Levinson, Clifford Jones and Roy

Cohn.The great majority of FBI agents knew

nothing about Hoover's actions and capable agentsmade a conspiracy case against Clifford Jones alongwith Bobby Baker in connection with their variousfinancial transactions. Jones was indicted in 1964for the conspiracy and a second indictment was

made against him for perjury, that is for lying underoath when testifying for Baker.

J. Edgar Hoover pressured the JusticeDepartment and Jones has not been brought to trialfor more than five years after the charges. Hooverand Jones were personally close friends as well as amembers of the assassination cabal.

Because of the wide publicity and publicpressure, Hoover could not quash the Baker casewithout a trial. However, he worked through Abe

Fortas on the Supreme Court and Baker's appealswere handled in such a way as to block any finaldecree and to bring questions on the case lastinginto late 1969. Hoover's adroit handling of theBaker case has made it questionable whether Bakerwill ever serve a day of his sentence.

History has recorded at least as early as

World War II the definite working together of theMafia and J. Edgar Hoover through his espionagedepartment. From 1943 to 1946, Lucky Lucianoand selected Mafia members throughout the UnitedStates worked on the docks of the various ports inthe United States and in other areas with J. EdgarHoover and the military intelligence agencies in

preventing sabotage. Lucky Luciano's prisonsentence was suspended in 1946 and he wasallowed to leave the country to take up residence inSicily. 71

Vito Genovese and his select Mafia groupworked with Mussolini in Italy before and duringWorld War II and were a part of Mussolini's Fascistgoverning regime. However, in 1943, as the

American Forces worked their way up the Italianpeninsula, the same Vito Genovese and his groupbecame active agents for the United Statesintelligence agencies and a number of Americanofficials wrote flowery recommendations for Mr.Genovese citing his American patriotism,intelligence and ingenuity in carrying out hisassigned duties for the U.S. espionage agencies. 72

The Assassination Attempt on DeGaulle

A group of Fascist French generalsdedicated to keeping Algeria as a French colonywere the middle group in the 1961 and 1962assassination attempts on French General DeGaulle.A French colonel, Bastien Thiery, commanded the1962 group of professional assassins who made the

actual assassination attempt on DeGaulle. ColonelThiery set his group of assassins up at anintersection in the suburbs of Paris in this finalattempt in 1962 to kill DeGaulle. The gunmen firedmore than one hundred rounds in the 1962 ColonelThiery assassination attempt. But GeneralDeGaulle, traveling in his bullet proof car, evaded

being hit, although all of the tires were shot out.The driver increased his speed and the General wassaved.

Colonel Bastien Thiery was arrested, triedand executed for the attempt on DeGaulle's life buthe was the breaking point between the operatinglevel of that assassination attempt and the people

financing and planning it and he went to his deathwithout revealing the connection. GeneralDeGaulle's intelligence, however traced thefinancing of his attempted assassination into theFBI's Permindex in Switzerland and CentroMondiale Comerciale in Rome, and he complainedto both the governments of Switzerland and Italycausing Permindex to lose its charter and Centro

Mondiale Comerciale to be forced to move toJohannesburg, South Africa.

General DeGaulle was furious at theassassination plots and attempted assassinationupon himself. He called in his most trusted officerswith the French Intelligence Agency and theyadvised him that they were already working on theinvestigation to ferret out who was behindDeGaulle's attempted assassination. The FrenchIntelligence Agency in a very short while

completely traced the assassination attempt throughPermindex, the Swiss corporation, to theSolidarists, the Fascist White Russian migrintelligence organization and Division Five, theespionage section of the FBI, into the headquartersof the North Atlantic Treaty Organization inBrussels, Belgium.

French intelligence thus determined that theattempts on General DeGaulle's life were beingdirected from NATO in Brussels through its variousintelligence organizations and specifically,Permindex in Switzerland, basically a NATOintelligence front using the remnants of AdolphHitler's intelligence units in West Germany and

also, the intelligence unit of the Solidaristsheadquartered in Munich, Germany. The overallcommand of the DeGaulle assassination unit wasdirected by Division Five of the FBI.

Upon learning that the intelligence groupscontrolled by the Division Five of the FBI in theheadquarters of the NATO organization hadplanned all of the attempts of his life, DeGaulle was

inflamed and ordered all NATO units off of Frenchsoils. Under the contract between France andNATO, General DeGaulle could not force them tomove for a period of time somewhat exceeding oneyear; yet, he told NATO to get off the soil of Franceand put the machinery in operation to remove themwithin the treaty agreements with the organization.

The Defense Intelligence Agency, theintelligence arm of all armed forces in the UnitedStates and Division Five, the counter- espionage

agency for the Federal Bureau of Investigation,were both found to have been the controllingagencies in NATO directing the assassinationattempts on DeGaulle's life. DIA and Division Fiveof the FBI were working hand in glove with theWhite Russian migr intelligence arm, theSolidarists, and many of the Western European

intelligence agencies were not aware of theassassination plan worked directly through NATOheadquarters. Even the high echelons of the UnitedStates CIA were not aware of the DIA, FBI andSolidarist directed activities.

Jerry Milton Brooks, a close associate ofMaurice Brooks Gatlin, Sr., testified in New

Orleans that Gatlin was a transporter for the CIAand Division Five of the FBI. Gatlin in 1962 leftNew Orleans of behalf of Permindex with$100,000.00 in cash of the FBI's money anddelivered the cash on behalf of Division Five andPermindex to the group of Fascist French generalsplanning the assassination of General DeGaulle.

Gatlin flew from New Orleans directly toParis, France and made the delivery. 73 Gatlin wasthe general counsel to the Anti-Communist Leagueof the Caribbean, and he worked directly under GuyBannister. In 1964 Gatlin was thrown, pushed, orfell from the sixth floor of the El Panama Hotel inPanama during the middle of the night and waskilled instantly.

Guy Bannister had been in charge of themidwestern FBI Division Five operation with

headquarters in Chicago up until 1955. At this time,J. Edgar Hoover shifted Bannister from an officialbasis with Division Five to a retainer andcontractual basis with the espionage section of theagency and moved him to New Orleans whereBannister worked with the New Orleans policedepartment and later from a private office at 544

Camp Street.In his contractual capacity with Division

Five, Bannister had close contacts with all of thearmed service intelligence agencies and workedclosely with them on the espionage section of theFBI's various projects. Bannister was the officer incharge who dispatched Gatlin with the $100,000.00

cash to Paris for the DeGaulle assassination group.74 We outline the DeGaulle assassination attemptwith President Kennedy's assassination because thesame organization carried out both operations.

In 1961, European and U.S. Publications

Revealed the

Defense Intelligence Agency's Support of the

Revolting French Generals

Before the attempted assassination onDeGaulle by Thiery of Permindex and even beforeMaurice Gatlin, the New Orleans business associate

of Guy Bannister, had acted as courier ofassassination funds for Permindex between NewOrleans and Europe, a large hassle had developedpublicly over the Pentagon and the DefenseIntelligence Agency acting in concert with therevolting French generals in Algeria. These werethe same French generals who were working with

the Defense Intelligence Agency and Division Fiveof the FBI through Permindex, Centro MondialeComerciale (World Trade Center) and ItaloAmerican Hotel Corporation in the attemptedassassination of DeGaulle in March of 1962. At thetime these facts were put into general circulation,neither Permindex, Centro Mondiale Comerciale

(World Trade Center) nor Italo American HotelCorporation had been brought to public light,although we now know their operations,connections and purposes.

The story was considered important enoughin May, 1961, to be the subject of the lead editorialin Le Monde, the most respected and influentialnewspaper in France:

It now seems established that some Americanagents more or less encouraged MauriceChalle, whose experience in NATO shouldhave put him on guard against the dealings ofthese irresponsible people and their Spanishand German colleagues. Kennedy obviouslyhad nothing to do with this affair. To makethis plain he considered it necessary to offeraid to General DeGaulle, well-intentioned

certainly but inopportune.

Columnist Marquis Childs noted that somepeople at the top were aware of the DefenseIntelligence Agency's involvement. Childs wrote:

As one of the highest officials of France put

it: "Of course your government, neither yourState Department nor your President, hadanything to do with this. But when you haveso many hundreds of agents in every part ofthe world it is not to be wondered at that someof them should have got in touch with thegenerals in Algiers."

And l' Express devoted two full pages toChalle and the DIA in a report the content of whichobviously bore the imprint of high officialdom.Among other things, l'Express affirmed that:

friends are convinced today that he wasencouraged by his companions (at NATO). Inthe course of the final conversations which hehad in Paris certain American agents havetold him "succeed quickly - in less than forty-eight hours - in a technical coup d'etat and wewill support you."

When the first stories of DIA and NATOinvolvement in the revolt were being published on

April 22, 1961, some of them were launchedcautiously "by officials at the Elysee Palace itself"according to Crosby S. Noyes in the WashingtonStar.

At least a half dozen foreign newsmen weregiven privately to understand that the

generals' plot was backed by strongly anti-Communist elements in the United StatesGovernment and military services. The leaderof the revolt, General Maurice Challe, wasreported to have received assurances that anymove to keep Algeria under permanentFrench domination and out of Algerian hands

would be in the interests of the United States.There also was a strong implication that achange in the NATO policies of GeneralDeGaulle would be welcome as one of theresults of a successful coup d'etat.

Pravda reported that:

Taking part in the war against the Algerianpeople is not only the France of the armsmanufacturers.. The war in Algeria is a war ofNATO. This was openly and cynically stated

The traces of theplotters lead to Madrid and Lisbon, thesehotbeds of fascism preserved intact with themoney of American reactionaries and withdirect assistance of top NATO circles. Thetraces from Spain and Portugal lead across theocean to the Pentagon and the Central

Intelligence Agency of the U.S. . . .

A version with a new twist appeared in anon-Communist Paris newspaper. It was written byGenevieve Tabouis. Madame Tabouis assured herreaders that "the fact that the effort of Challes wasencouraged, if not supported, by the most Atlantic

of American services, is from now on a secreteveryone knows.

About this time, General James M. Gavin,United States Ambassador to France, attended aluncheon of the French American PressAssociation. Also on hand was Pierre Baraduc.

Ambassador Gavin stood up to answer

questions from the guests. One of the guests wasSam White, an Australian and Paris correspondentfor the irreverent London Evening Standard. White,a man of blunt and simple Anglo-Saxon words,handed Ambassador Gavin a bombshell of aquestion: "Now that the story that the Pentagonplayed a part in the Algerian mutiny has receivedthe blessing of the Quai d'Orsey, what steps does

By this time, the Defense IntelligenceAgency, Division Five of the FBI and the NATOgenerals' involvement with the French Algeriangenerals was so well established that General Gavindeclined to make any form of denial. Digressingsomewhat but expanding further, it is desirable todocument further the connection between theDefense Intelligence Agency, Division Five of the

FBI, the Defense Industrial Security Command, themembers of the Kennedy assassination cabal, it'semployees and their common, connecting links andobjectives.

The Defense Industrial Security Commandis a direct subsidiary of the Defense IntelligenceAgency under the command of Lt. Gen. Joseph

Carroll, who was a long time friend of Hoover andformer Assistant Director of the FBI. The DefenseIndustrial Security Command was in operationbefore the Defense Intelligence Agency was formedin early 1961. However, before that time, it hadworked with the separate armed forces intelligenceagencies which were all brought together under

General Carroll.The DISC was a police, security,

investigative, intelligence and employee clearancearm of the sprawling military industrial complexconsisting of the Atomic Energy Commission,NASA, the munitions makers and suppliers of theArmy, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps and the

employees of all of those agencies and thosecompanies who held contracts with them.

It is not in the least surprising that thesyndicate and the Mafia worked well into theDefense Industrial Security Command because oftheir members' ownership in many of the hugecorporations manufacturing munitions and suppliesfor the Pentagon, Atomic Energy Commission andNASA. Henry Crown's and Patrick Hoy'sownership of the controlling block in General

Dynamics between 1960 and 1966 is well knownby the few who bother to keep up with such things.Henry Crown's close association with the ChicagoMafia figures has been well documented in CaptiveCity by Demaris.

Joe Bonanno's (the New York, Tucson andMontreal Mafia head) connection with the munition

manufacturing corporation, Lionel, is also wellknown. Roy Cohn of Lionel, Ed Levinson, CliffordJones and Cleveland mobster, Morris Dalitz, andtheir business connections are also totallyestablished. Joe Bonanno keeps his personal lawyeron retainer (and has for years) in order to handle theintricate high financial legal moves in connection

with his ownership of munitions, aerospace andother corporations registered on Wall Street.Bonanno's attorney is William Power Maloney whois also General Counsel for the Securities andExchange Commission, the regulatory agency overthe stock exchanges with headquarters in New YorkCity. And, J. Edgar Hoover until 1959 vehemently

denied that the Mafia even existed. He said therewas no such organization as the Mafia.

The Nazi rocket scientists are onmanagement level also in the munitions andaerospace industry. Walter Dornberger, the Nazigeneral, left the space agency in the 1950's tobecome a high official in Bell AerospaceCorporation and he was followed by over thirty ofthe Nazi scientists to control level in thecorporations manufacturing munitions and

aerospace material. This still left well over sixty ofthe scientists at command level in NASA.75The Nazis, Mafia and gambling syndicate

members were all brought together under the largeumbrella of the Defense Industrial SecurityCommand and even the larger joint umbrella of theDefense Intelligence Agency and Division Five of

the FBI. Of course, General Joseph Carroll of DIAcould not possibly participate in any venturewithout the approval of the Joint Chiefs of Staffsitting over him in the Pentagon.

The host of munitions and aerospacemanufacturing companies with Mafia Members inthe leadership positions began to surface during the

1960's and one of such connections surfaced as isshown in the Associated Press Dispatch of October28,1969, which reads as follows:

A Pennsylvania manufacturing firmlinked to the Mafia by a Senate subcommitteehas won millions of dollars in defensecontracts from the Pentagon.

Medico Industries Inc. of Pittston, Pa.,currently is working on a $4 million contractto produce parts for rocket warheads usedextensively in Vietnam.

Since 1966, the firm has received about$12 million in Army, Navy, and Air Forcecontracts. Pentagon records indicate it hasperformed well on all its defense work.

Medico Industries' present contracts donot involve classified material. However, a

Pentagon spokesman said the firm and itsprincipal officers had a security clearancefrom Jan. 28, 1968 to June 20, 1968. It wasterminated at the company's request - arequest which Pentagon sources said cameafter security officials asked for additionalinformation about its officers.

The company's name has cropped up inthe organized crime investigations of a Senatesubcommittee headed by Sen. John L.McClellan, D Ark.

In 1964, McClellan's subcommittee listedMedico Electric Motor Co., later to becomeknown as Medico Industries, as a principal

hangout of Russell A. Bufalino, whom itdescribed as "one of the most ruthless andpowerful leaders of the Mafia in the UnitedStates."

William Medico, former president andnow general manager of Medico Industries,was listed in the same report as among the"criminal associates" of Bufalino.

James A. Osticco, the firm's trafficmanager, was present in 1957 when NewYork State Police broke up the ApalachinConference - a meeting of top Mafia figuresfrom throughout the United States. Theparticipants also included Bufalino and VitoGenevese, once described as "king of therackets."

Bufalino has been battling deportationsince 1952. According to the McClellan

committee's 1964 report, the Sicilian-bornMafia leader has been active in narcoticstrafficking, labor racketeering, and dealing instolen jewels and furs. Last year, Bufalinowas charged with transporting stolentelevision sets across state lines.

Investigators say Bufalino and Medico

have been friends since Bufalino moved toPittston from Buffalo, N.Y. in 1938.

A confidential report in the files of stateand federal law enforcement officials refers toa company listed in the Senate report as beingowned by Bufalino and says: "One of thesilent partners in this enterprise is said to be

William Medico . . . who is believed to havemoney invested in a number of places wherethe subject (Bufalino) acts as front man."

In a telephone interview, Medico said hehas no business interests with Bufalino. Hesaid he has known Bufalino all his life.

As for the McClellan committee reportthat Bufalino frequents the Medico plant,
