Your kindness and sweet welcome to our many guests did not go unnoticed. Thank you. We welcome you today to Spring Meadows, A Place of Vision, a refreshing place, a place where you will be loved, a place where you can find opportunities for serving Your Lord, a place where worship is focused on and where the Bible is the lead. Welcome. We’d love to have you here all the time. If you have any questions, just ask. Today we will be giving out the bags for Sack the Pulpit. Bring your bag(s) back next week and we will place them around the stage. What an opportunity we have to bless some of those hurting in our community! Several of you have seen the Social Media post and then the article in the Tennessean that talked about the Comer Trust. First off, thank you for sharing it and making sure we were aware. Second, we were. I was alerted sometime ago that it might be coming from a leader at one of our Universities. They called wanting to know more about Brother Comer and shared enough for us to be alert. Our shepherds submitted the required materials within a week of VOLUME 14, NUMBER 44 SMCOC.NET November 3, 2019 Dan Winkler (Auditorium) - “Sharing Our Passion for Jesus” Greg Lawrence (Hall) Men - “Stepping Up- Taking Christianity to the Next Level” Jacob Netterville (Office) College Age ADULT CLASSES Sunday at 5PM receiving them. The President gave each of the preaching majors a copy of Brother Comer’s biography when I graduated college. He was obviously a neat man having helped plant a thriving Nashville congregation, serving as an elder in two places, giving MUCH of his wealth to good works, and initiating a number of good works. He died in 1944 and it appears he had $25,000 put in a trust fund to mature and be given to churches 75 years after his death. That relatively “small” amount did well and is now $37,000,000, $35 million of which will be split among all churches of Christ in TN and KY who are able to return the form. The good news is that this good man is still doing good 75 years after he died. The lesson is to think of what we might impact way down the road. Some of you know what a history nut I can be. If you want to learn a lot more about R.W. Comer and his family go to this site: https://www.therestorationmovem ent.com/_states/tennessee/comer.htm. Incidentally, that site, administered by our dear friend Scott Harp is very rich if you like history. I thought you’d like to know and I also think this good act should be noted and recommended. I love you all. Sack the Pulpit Sunday, November 10 th Today we will be handing out grocery lists for the Thanksgiving bags that will be handed out to families in our community. Please return your filled bag next Sunday and place them around the stage.
