The battle was a success and the city was reclaimed.

Prior to December 1941 the USA was reluctant to declare war on Germany.

The USA had supplied Britain with war supplies and stopped trading with Japan, Italy and Germany

Pearl Harbor

In July 1941 the USA stopped all oil exports to Japan.

This severely effected Japan’s ability to wage war.

Japanese attacked the US naval base in Hawaii, Pearl Harbor, on December 7th 1941.

2500 US soldiers were killed and 13 navy ships were completely destroyed.

Before to Pearl Harbor American citizens were reluctant to enter into another war.

Pearl Harbor caused many Americans to want to fight in the war.

Historians have argued that American spies were aware that Britain was at the brink of losing the war.

Nazi occupation of Britain would have been a detrimental defeat for the entire world.

On June 6th 1944 the Allies organized the largest attack to reclaim French land, Operation Overlord

Over 130’000 troops stormed the beach of Normandy.
