World Mission Sunday November 5

On this Mission Sunday, Pope Francis asks us,” Let us not close

our hearts within our own particular concerns but let us open them to all of humanity.”

We are called to offer our prayers and generous financial

support, through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, for the worldwide mission of Christ. We are asked to reach out to the peripheries, people in remote villages, towns, and cities by using the witness and work of missionaries and local priests.

Please keep all missionaries in your daily prayers.

A second collection will be taken for World Mission. Envelopes are located in the pews. Thank you for your support. Also,

credit card donations can be made at

www.helpthemissions.org.

THE GREATEST AMONG US Whom do you admire? Is it the President of the United States or a movie star or a billionaire? These are people whom the world exalts as great. Like the Pharisees in today’s Gospel, they have places of honor wherever they go. Would you like to follow in their footsteps? The scriptures for today offer different examples for us to follow. Jesus tells us that the greatest among us are the servants. These are the people we are to honor and imitate. We are called to be like Paul, who worked hard to serve the needs of his communities, and Jesus, who gave his life in service to the world.

Baptism Baptisms are held on the 4th Sunday of each month after the 11:00am Mass. Baptism is a communal Sacrament and not private. Deacon John Fanelle performs all of the baptisms. Parents are required to be formally registered as parishioners, and be participating members of our community for three months. Attending Mass does not make you registered– you must have filled out a registration form! If this is the first child, both parents are required to attend the Baptismal Class. Baptismal classes are held on the first Sunday of each month. Godparents are encouraged to attend the baptismal class, either at our parish or their own parish. To schedule a Baptism and/or register for the Baptismal Class, please contact the parish office, (858) 481-3232. Call us to register for the class. Next class - Sunday, December 3 at 7 pm.

Marriage All couples wishing to be married at St. Thérèse of Carmel must be formally registered, active and participating members of our parish community for one year before setting a date. Couples are asked to allow six to nine months to complete the marriage preparation program. Please call the parish office (858)-481-3232 to make arrangements.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Adults who seek initiation into the Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist will want to look into this class. RCIA is also for baptized adults through Reconciliation, Confirmation and Eucharist. Catholic or non-Catholic, who seek full Initiation into the Catholic Church. Please contact Karen Klause (858) 354-7441.
