Build King’s A2 M2 “Jack “
Fellow Bugs!
I know ! I keep saying I’m go-
ing to do this newsletter every
month, but life gets in the way
and here I am a week away
from a new year and I’m finish-
ing up the last one from ‘18. But
it was a great year.
In November We had 31 mem-
bers in attendance, another new
high since I’ve been in the club.
We also had a long time mem-
ber Warren Wilson come, first
time this year. We welcomed
new member Jim Greiner, who
has since been to the dinner
and Friday breakfast with his
wife Tressa.
We decided to go ahead and
have the regular meeting in
Dec. which we normally don’t
do, but was voted in enthusias-
tically. The Christmas dinner
was finalized for Dec 8th at
Waldhorn.
Member Gary Mason brought a
ton of models to sell, I know I
requested and bought a Bf 110.
I know there were some good
deals to be had. He’s still got a
Meeting Minutes lot for sale, so be sure to check
his email list.
The December meeting took
place on Dec 7th with about 25
guys and new guy Joe Lavender.
Joe is an accomplished small
scale ship modeler and paper
modeler. Tim Moore was also a
first timer and came prepared for
the swap meet
We decided to have a Corsair
build in time for the Nationals. I’m
thinking this will be a display.
King Richard is spearheading this
and we’ll get the details at the
January meeting. First thoughts
are to make similar Corsairs on a
flight deck diorama. We’ll finalize
this in Jan.

We need to also decide about dues for 2019.
We’ll definitely have to appropriate some money
to build the deck diorama. But since we have a
good account, maybe we should just skip them
this year. I know I’ve heard some rumblings
about that. So, let’s decide what we’re going to
do.
We also had the model swap at the December
meeting. This usually took place at the dinner,
but this way more people would be involved. I
think it worked out well, at least I was satisfied
with my Accurate Miniatures Mustang over the
protestations of a certain long standing member.
Food was brought by a few members and the
pickings were good, Thanks to those who did
that.
Club stats:
We have 58 members on our club roster.
As far as I can tell we have about 10-12 IPMS
members.
We averaged 25 members per meeting this year
with a high in November (31) and a low in June
(17). Half the club was at Wonderfest.
We welcomed 5 new members this year.

Charlotte Scale Modelers is a chapter of the International
Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS) - USA, a non-profit
organization dedicated to the advancement of all aspects
of scale modeling. We are a diverse group of people
united by a common hobby. We take our modeling
seriously, but we keep things light and have some fun -
that’s what recreation is all about! We cover the full
spectrum of scale modeling from airplanes to cars to
science fiction, and we enjoy sharing the hobby with
fellow modelers.
We hold monthly meetings in the White building behind
Memorial United Methodist Church at 4012 Central Ave in
Charlotte, NC. Come in on the left side and to the back
of the Church parking lot and come around to the back.
Our meetings are open to the public and we welcome
visitors. Meeting times are from 7pm til 10pm thought we
do sometimes run a little longer with lively conversations.
