Circle 5 & 6 Funeral Dinners

PARISH NEWS From our Pastor….

Saturday, June 4, 2005--the date of my ordination to the priesthood at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha. It was a glorious day: a top-ten for weather; I was surrounded by family and friends; the joy I felt was euphoric; everything seemed brighter, as if the veil between Heaven and Earth had been lifted!

Each year, on the first Saturday of June, the memories and emotions of that blissful day surround me as I attend the Mass of ordination (the wedding of a young man in persona Christi with his bride, the Church).

I’m fortunate to have been chosen by God to be a priest. In my short 11 years, I have been privileged to experience miracles of resuscitation, like Elijah the prophet; miracles of conversion of heart, like St. Paul; and numerous miracles of the incomprehensible power of Jesus, like the widowed mother.

I LOVE being a priest, and I can’t imagine doing anything else! Thank you for making my first year at St. Bon’s a year of grace. Please pray for the six men ordained this June 4, 2016—they have no idea the joys and sorrows they’re in for. We have given everything to follow our Lord. This Sunday, June 5, I will attend the First Mass of Toby Letak at St. Stephen the Martyr in Omaha, since I knew him when I was a young assistant priest there.

Blessings,

STEWARDSHIP SPANISH

STEWARDSHIP NOTES “And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said

to her, ‘Do not weep.’” LUKE 7:13

This verse is a great reminder that the Stewardship lifestyle is one of service, putting God first and to “love one another.” Unfortu-nately today, many people have “passion” for activities they en-joy - their job and off-work activities. Many times our “passion” to excel is at the expense of someone else. Maybe we need to focus on a little less passion for our individual concerns and a lot more compassion for others.
