In the past, there have been many a successful meeting held at: parks, parking lots, rest stops and restau- rants. Some have even been conducted on Saturday. If you are willing to host, you have the flexibility to “fit your schedule”. Some of the questions that will always arise: How many will attend? What should I have available (snacks, food, drinks) What can I expect? Having hosted and attended a few meetings, the an- swer is simple—you never know, what you want and anything. HAPPY NEW YEAR— hope 2013 brings joy and nothing unexpected that can’t

easily be overcome by taking a ride.

HOSTS HOSTS HOSTS - The Host A Meeting Calendar is pretty empty, only a

few months are taken. At one time, it was normal for the meeting to be con-

ducted on the 3rd Sunday of the month and routinely held at a members home.

Not often has this group been identified as being normal. In the past, there have

been many a successful meeting held at: parks, parking lots, rest stops and restau-

rants. Some have even been conducted on Saturday. If you are willing to host,

you have the flexibility to “fit your schedule”. Some of the questions that will

always arise: How many will attend? What should I have available (snacks, food,

drinks) What can I expect? Having hosted and attended a few meetings, the an-

swer is simple—you never know, what you want and anything. The time of year

will effect the attendance numbers—what is going on in everyone’s other life,

weather, distance, day and time. Similar to the movie quote “host it and they will

come” ya just never know how many.

Patches & Stickers are being handed out at meetings and gatherings. Eventually

they will be mailed to outlying members.

Mileage & Activity Awards— Snail Mail, E-mail or hand them in. I’ll be collect-

ing them at the January Meeting, in hopes of getting more than five and announc-

ing results in February.

Membership—Renewal forms were in last month’s issue and available on the

web. Send them in and give Belva something to work on.

Articles— This month’s news-letter is void articles. I’ll be talk-ing to attendees of gatherings and highlighting them in a Meet & Greet section of the newslet-ter. Yes, you can send in your own article on almost anything you’d like. One of my previous stints as an exalted leader of this gang, something similar was done—Meet A Member. WHY MEADOW? WHY NOT!

Cuisine: Southern In a nutshell: A buffet rivaling the biggest

Southern family reunion spread you can imagine is well worth the

40-minute drive from Raleigh. Get there early, or you may find your-

self waiting another 40 minutes for a table. Try: Chicken and pas-

try, fried chicken, fried flounder (yes, the turnover is that fast), col-

lard greens, chicken salad, green beans, field peas, butter beans,

biscuits - you get the idea. Just be sure to leave room for a sampling from the eye-popping display of homemade desserts, from banana pudding to signature chocolate pie.
