Sitting in the stillness of Gaither
Chapel, you are somehow impelled
to lift your eyes upward, to gaze
upon the small pictures in the
stained glass windows, the symbols
of our faith.
You see the open Bible, the "liv-
ing oracles" of God; the wheat,
signifying the Bread of Life, and
the grapes, representing Christ's
blood shed for us; the cross and the
crown, Jesus Christ—S a v i o r and
King, and the lamp, the HolySpirit.
Yet these symbols take on new,
though perhaps less majestic mean-
ings, as they become guides for
everyday living in Montreat . . .

DEDICATION
We dedicate the 1955 Sun Dial . . .
To someone who loves Montreat girls and the "Montreat Spirit" . . .
To someone whose devotion to her work is caught by those about her
. . . To someone whose originality, imagination, and skdl add sparkle
and color to activities and entertainment . . . To someone who accepts
our joking graciously . . . To someone who means more to us than she
could ever guess . . . To . . .

CLASS OF '55
"We're the Senior Class of Montreal. College you
hear so much about . . .," and it has taken four years
of work and three of singing to get here!
Our first big project was the Freshman talent
show. We gave a Minstrel. Lil' Liza Jane . . .
oops . . . Miss Margaret Smith, was our advisor.
The Sophomore Class always provides the Christ-
mas entertainment. In December, 1952, the Student
body took a peek into "Santa's Work Shop;" Santa
took a peek into one of his boxes, where he found
"The Littlest Angel," and so was presented in pan-
tomime the story dear to the heart of all. WhenMr. and Mrs. Frantz agreed to be our sponsors, they
didn't know they'd keep the title through our gradu-
ation! For the Junior-Senior banquet we really went
"overboard," right down to "King Neptune's Court,"
complete with fish, mermaids, "seahorse supreme,"
and "water from the murk}' deep."
As Seniors, the best contribution we leave to our
Alma Mater is filed under SERVICF,, as we led
campus activities. These have been four wonderful
years of prayer, study, fun, and friendship.
".. . the Senior Class is on its way." How
thankful we are that our "way" led through that
Montreat gate!

SENIOR CLASS POEM
We stand before the world's great door,
The door of Life for all;
We each shall leave the former road
To heed life's beckoning call.
Yet still the love of friendships true
Shall in our memory be;
The days of joy we each have shared
In bonds of unity.
—PEGGY HARRIS.

STUDENT PUBLICATIONS
The life of the Staff member is not an easy
one.
"Deadline: What deadline?" "Well, I
haven't written it yet, but . . .;" red and
white; "Where is your hat?" "broken-down"
typewriter; the smell of the mimeographing
ink; and finally "Paper, anyone?" All this
goes into the making and printing of The
Lookout. Then when someone says "That was
a real good paper," we know it was worth all
our time and hard work.
