THE SUMMERLAND R TARIAN EDITION 9 May 2015 May 2015 edition: What’s happening in our Club? The purpose of this newsletter is to provide each member with an up to date bulleted list of activities, initiatives and Board decisions from the past month. As usual, if you have an item or news event that you would like to see in this newsletter, call or e-mail me [email protected] or 250 494 6434 H! My name is Bailey Johnson and I am being sent off as a Rotary exchange student for the 2015-2016 exchange year. I have always been interested in travelling and experiencing different cultures and religions, and learning a new language - which ultimately lead me to choose Brazil as my top choice country, I was very lucky to be chosen to represent Canada in my first choice country! I was born at the Penticton hospital and raised here in Summerland with my parents, my dog, and my 18 year old brother Jordan who is currently attending UVic. Here in Summerland I attend Summerland Secondary School in the 10th grade. At school, I enjoy playing field hockey; outside of school I am very involved in Ice hockey and have been for the last 10 years! I am very excited to start my journey as an exchange student! I would especially like to thank Rotary, not only for all the involvement with the exchange students, but for all the good they do worldwide and for our community. Rotary is a great organization and I can't thank them enough for all they do! This summer I am planning on working and brushing up on my Portuguese so that I can make the most of this great opportunity.
