The Ten Commandments, though often viewed as out of date, are a current lens through which we can see not only historical truths about God's relationship with the Hebrew nation at that time, but universal truths about God's character at all times. Essentially, that he is a God of faithful ownership (covenant) who rightfully expects fearful obedience (commandments).

1.You shall have no other gods before Me.

3.You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
4.Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
