NWCC has paid for you to attend. If you’d like to go, please complete the following:
1. Call/e-mail Judy at NWCC and tell her you plan to attend.
2. Go to http://okdisciples.org/LTS-2016/ and take a look at class offerings
then sign up for classes. You can see class descriptions by scrolling down
the page and clicking on the “plus” sign by each class. You can also see
a schedule of classes by clicking on the blue button at the top of the
page. This will take you to a schedule organized by time. Once you de-
cide on your classes, click the green “Sign Up For Classes” button to let
us know the classes you would like to take.
If you have difficulty with this - let us know in the church office and we’ll guide you through it.
3. Take a look at the “Items Needed” for the “First Night Out” bags. Bring those items with you to LTS, or
drop them off in the baskets in the church office. See page 4 for a list of items needed.
We’ll see you at LTS 2016! (Additional information can be found on page 8 or on the website.)

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then
prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to
encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently;
if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:6-8, NIV)
What an incredible God we serve, God who has given us so many spiritual gifts, as well as many talents and abilities! Recently, many of you filled out a survey noting your spiritual gifts as well as your talents and the kinds of ministry that you are passionate about. If you didn’t get a chance to fill out that survey on Janu-ary 10th, there’s a copy in this newsletter that you can fill out and return to the church office by this Sun-day, January 17th. One of the phrases that you will hear often in the Disciples of Christ denomination is “the ministry of all believers”. It is a phrase that speaks to the fact that each person who is a part of the church is called to minister. It’s fitting to identify our interests/talents and spiritual gifts at the beginning of a new year because this is where we find God’s grace at work in our lives. It is an area in which God has given abun-dantly to us, and so we can’t help but give back abundantly to God, following through in those areas where we feel God calling us to minister. Recently I was reading a blog post by Carey Nieuwhof. One thing that Nieuwhof notes is that “passion beats polish” when it comes to churches sharing the good news about Jesus in 2016. Our au-thentic enthusiasm for and participation with what God/Christ/Spirit is doing in the world is very im-portant. Just as important is sharing our enthusiasm with everyone we meet. As we move into 2016 and our Ministry Groups begin to meet, evaluate the goals they set for 2015, and set new ministry goals for 2016, it will be important for each one of us at Northwest Christian Church to prayerfully consider those ministries where we can share our spiritual gifts, our passion for min-istry, and our talents/abilities. Soon, you will be receiving an invitation to help out with one of the minis-tries of our community of faith. Our Ministry Group structure is designed to allow lots of different people to lead from their hearts in the ministries where God is calling them. Most of us get excited when we know that God is at work in our lives. Unfortunately, some people don’t follow through when they feel God leading them. It may happen for any number of reasons. Some common causes are because they are afraid, or things feel too risky, or maybe the thing God is challenging them to do is something they have never done before. Remember, just as God equipped Moses and so many others in the Bible, God will give each one of us what we need to succeed. We can do all things through Christ! So, as we kick off 2016, think about these questions: Are you excited about the ministry that God is calling you to do? Are you using your spiritual gifts as well as your talents and abilities to passionately join God at work in the neighborhoods around Northwest Christian Church? Finally, do you trust God enough to accept the risk and challenge of following through?
With Thanks to God for All of You, Donna
Kairos

Items Needed for TEEM

The goal of the “First Night Out” care package is two-fold: first, to celebrate the individual’s release, and sec-ond, to make him or her feel comfortable, cared for and loved. The care package shows the individual that mem-bers of the community care about his or her successful reentry, and aids in making the transition from incarcer-ation smooth.

Restaurant/fast food gift card
Healthy snack
Canned goods/basic food items
Towel
Blanket
Hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, deodor-ant, etc.)
Sleepwear/undergarments (TEEM provides work attire)
