TSPC-License Redesign UpdateConverting to the New Licenses Licensure Redesign simplified licenses. There are now three main licensure categories: Preliminary, Professional andReciprocal(out-of-state)Licenses;andtwolesscommoncategories: Legacy and Teacher Leader Licenses. All old teaching licenses will convert to the new licensure categories. No action is needed until it is time to renew.

Renewals: Which license do I have? At renewal, teaching licenses will be issued the best possible license within a teacher’s qualifications. This means that if a teacher who has an Initial II Licenses has met the experience requirements of a Professional License, they will automatically be qualified for a Professional License when theyrenew.(AllInitialIIareconsideredtohavemettheadvanced professional education requirements.) Many teaching licenses were converted to new license types prior to moving the data to eLicensing. When the applicant views records in eLicensing, she or he will see the following new license type: •BasicLicense=Legacy* •Initial=Reciprocal (out-of-state applicants) •InitialI=Preliminary License •InitialII=Preliminary License* •Standard=Professional Teaching License •Continuing=Professional Teaching License •Professional=Professional Teaching License •Five-year= Professional Teaching License •ESEAAlternativeRoute=Restricted Teaching

License*Basic and Initial II will be issued a Professional Teaching License if they meet the four full years of teaching experience upon evaluation at renewal.

Read more about licensure renewal requirements. Read more about first-time license requirements.

Added Credits 2016 Licensed staff, have you added credits this year?If you have added credits this year, please submit these transcripts to Human Resources no later than May 31, 2016. Maybe you have enough to move up a step for next year’s contract!

Payroll Tip of the Month - MarchSocial Security and Me? Social Security recommends you keep all W-2s and December pay check stubs in order to verify your Social Security earnings and the number of Social Security Credits. You earn social security credits in 2016 for each $1260 in earnings up to a maximum of 4 credits. Anyone born in 1929 or later needs 40 credits to be eligible for social security benefits. Social Security no longer regularly mails social security statements to help you keep track of your social security earnings and potential benefits upon retirement. At each stage of your life, my Social Security is for you. Your personal online my Social Security account is a valuable source of information beginning in your working years and continuing throughout the time you receive Social Security benefits. To learn more visit: http://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/

Always destroy prior year stubs responsibly to avoid identity theft.

Tuition ReimbursementLicensed StaffEach year of the 2014-2017 collective bargaining agreement the District agrees to provide a pool of $100,000 which can be used to reimburse bargaining unit members for tuition reimbursement. Reimbursement is limited to the maximum of $500 per year per bargaining unit member. At the end of each year all pre-approved courses will be counted and the $100,000 pool will be divided equally among the bargaining members who applied for tuition reimbursement. As an example: if there are 400 employees who requested reimbursement and have met all the other conditions necessary to receive reimbursement, each bargainingunitmemberwouldreceive$250($100,000dividedby400).

* If the course is not completed or a passing grade is not granted, reimbursement will not be granted. Note: The District will attempt to provide the teacher with the reimbursement payment in the final check for the applicable contract year but payment may need to be made later if there are bargaining unit members who are completing classes that donotenduntiltheendofJuneand/orarelatesubmittingtheproperinformationforreimbursement.

Everything You Need to KnowAbout Handwashing You Probably

Learned in Preschool.

1. Wet your hands and apply liquid, bar, or powder soap2. Rub hands together vigorously to make a lather and scrub

all surfaces3. Continue for 20 seconds - It takes that long for the soap and

scrubbing action to dislodge and remove stubborn germs. Need a timer? Imagine singing “Happy Birthday” twice through to a friend!

4. Rinse hands well under running water5. Dry your hands using a paper towel or air dryer6. If possible, use your paper towel to turn off the faucet
