FRIZ Biochem is a privately-owned biotech company

located in Munich-Neuried. Founded in 2004, the company

currently generates revenues by out-licensing, services and

providing proprietary chemicals. The main focus, however,

is on the development of electronic biochips and its use in

life science and diagnostics. FRIZ gradually extended its

biochip R&D efforts to complete workflow integration of

MDx to Lab-on-a-chip systems. As a result, the CYCLE®

technology platform emerged in co-operation with

renowned research institutes, clinical research organisations

and hospitals as well as biotech companies. The well

attuned staff of FRIZ possesses expertise for complex

technology development ranging from bioinformatics and

software via physics and chemistry to biology and

diagnostics. Personnel and network succeeded where

others failed: to realise a complex interdisciplinary

development that is ready for the market.

Our product:

FRIZ Biochem's CYCLE® offers a first-time-ever

opportunity to serve the molecular diagnostics

customer at the point-of-care in the testing of multiple

drug resistant (MDR) ailments.

MDx testing could be one of the biggest game-changers

health care has seen in decades. MDx is a new class of

diagnostic tests that identify molecular and genetic markers

for an individual patient. These markers determine

potential benefit of a

specific therapy, or

risk of developing a

specific disease or

other health

conditions.

MDx tests’ fast turn-

around times and

reliable high

accuracy have the

potential to reduce

the occurrence and

costs of ineffective

health care services,

enhance patient

outcomes and

improve disease

management.

While much has

been written about

the promise of new molecular and genetic diagnostic tests,

they also cause a tidal wave of complexity, cost and quality

issues for health plans.

FRIZ Biochem’s CYCLE® technology offers a unique

opportunity to pioneer next generation MDx testing. While

all other technologies rely on fluorescence-based detection

capable of discriminating only five sequence biomarkers in

one test run, there is a growing demand for high resolution

testing (tens or hundreds of biomarkers), e. g. for MRSA-,

tb-, MRGN- , HPV- or Pathogen-testing.

The use of CYCLE® avoids the involvement of skilled labour

and will reduce the budget necessary to improve health

care costs associated with MDx testing as well as overall

costs for the treatment due to early and complete

diagnosis. The achieved technological advancement

anticipates the problem of growing incidents of chronic

and infectious diseases as exemplified in the need for cost-

effective and fast screening to fight hospital-acquired

infections. This issue was even addressed at the G7 summit

in 2015. Besides, CYCLE® is prepared to be exploited in

developing countries at regions without laboratory infra

structure or in the field of companion diagnostics.

Our target audience:

Hospitals and diagnostic centres

NGOs focused on tuberculosis management

A strategic partner with business development

and sales capabilities to promote advanced point

of care tuberculosis testing in Africa

Government health agencies

Distributors

Investors

Friz Biochem was awarded the European Union’s Horizon

The company was founded in 2010 by Liisa Petrykowska

who gathered a team of scientists and researchers from

institutions like NASA and moved to West Africa. In 2013

the company started piloting with farmers, and now has a

team of 15 top meteorological scientists, programmers,

and emerging market business experts - all of whom work

and live in West Africa. The team is working to provide

better weather forecasts for the tropical region, especially

for farmers as they produce 70% of the food in Sub-

Saharan Africa and are often those who are the most

vulnerable, and can benefit the most .

Our product:

Ignitia provides highly accurate forecasts for small scale

farmers via SMS. The company developed a weather

model specifically calibrated for the tropics, resulting in

forecasts that are twice as accurate as global models

(~84%). We get these forecasts to farmers by partnering

with telcos to send GPS-specific daily forecasts, as well as

monthly and seasonal predictions. The message is sent in a

simple text-lite format, and can be received on any mobile

phone (no smartphone required). Farmers don’t have to

pay a large sum upfront, instead they subscribe via their

mobile operator and pay in micro-instalments from their

existing mobile credit. It costs just $0.03/message, adding

up to just 1%-2% of a farmer’s total costs for a year.

Our target audience:

Businesses that are operating in the

telecommunications space

Meteorological agencies

Emergency response agencies (flood, etc)

Businesses that work along the agricultural

supply chain, especially those that have direct

linkages with small scale farmers

At Nordic 24/7 Services our mission is to engineer eco-

friendly coolers that give major Point of Sale (POS) and

Point of Purchase (POP) brands the ability to improve

their green social responsibility and reduce waste while

boosting their retail presence.

Our product:

Home of CoolTM is a unique environment friendly

electronic cooler that uses an innovative combination

of peltier elements and insulation materials, hence

omitting completely the compressor and refrigerant

fluid. The only moving part is an efficient and low-cost coil

fan, similar

to a computer fan, which blows the hot air away from the

unit. The fan has a lifetime that is at least five times longer

than that of the

compressor

(depends on

quality of fan).

Therefore, the

greatest benefit of

the cooler is that

it is service free.

Changing the fan

is a simple and

cheap technical

solution, and the

replaced fan

(composed of

plastic, magnets and copper coil windings) is not a threat to

the environment. Moreover, our refrigerator elements take

less than 8% of the total volume of the cooler (compressor

is 30%). Hence, another benefit is that our coolers take 60%

less space and are 70% lighter than the smallest

compressor coolers available in the market. Other

important benefit of our

cooler is that it is

vibration free and it is

free from any chemical

regulation since the fluid

refrigerant has been

removed. Furthermore,

the coolers do not

contain any flammable

gases, hence certifications

are by far lower than

conventional coolers.

All these benefits lead to

huge cost savings in manufacturing and maintenance.

Bottom line: the solution gives the customers great benefits

for a lower price!

This radical achievement in cooling technology, has allowed

Nordic 24/7 to be the first company to offer POS & POP

(Point Of Sales and Point Of Purchase) coolers that can be

placed in limited spaces, such as next to the cash

register.

Our target audience:
