Sigma Chi has been a part of my life for as long as I can remem-
ber. My father (Mark Chandler, Alpha Tau) never really pushed
me to join a certain fraternity when I started at Murray State in
the fall of 2003. His only advice was to find a place where I felt at
home. So with that I went to many rush events including Sigma
Chi. By the end of the week I knew where I belonged. I pledged
with 18 other guys in the Gamma Rho pledge class. My first active
role in the chapter was the office of historian. I then held the office
of Derby Daddy in the spring of 2005. In the fall of 2005 I was
elected Magister of the Gamma Phi pledge class. That semester we
initiated 14 new brothers. My final office was annotator. After
graduating from MSU in 2007 I accepted a job at Pella Corp. as an
engineer on the product design team for the fiberglass division here
in Murray, KY. Since then I've stayed active with the chapter by sitting on the alumni board as
well as contributing where I can as needed.
I want to commend Brother Mike Maxwell on the job he has done over the years as Chapter Ad-
visor. Mike has led the chapter to four consecutive Peterson Awards, fostered great communica-
tion with the university, and held our chapter to the highest of standards. Mike has been a
great mentor to me these past few years and I look forward to continue working with him as we
move forward with this transition.
Looking to the future I’m excited to take on the challenge of guiding the undergraduate chap-
ter. Mike has left the chapter in a great spot and I hope that I can continue on the road that he
has paved. We are moving in the right direction and I’m truly proud of how the young men of ET
have conducted themselves since I've graduated. Currently the chapter has a pledge class of 15
and I’m confident that in January we’ll be initiating each one of them. One of my main goals for
the chapter is to build better communication with each other, alumni, nationals, as well as the
university. Great communication is the foundation of any
organization. I have high hopes for 2013. We have great
leadership in ET and I want alumni to show their support for
these young men.
I am Always Proud To Be a Sigma Chi.

Greetings and Happy Holidays Brothers :
We have had a very successful semester and I believe that we can have an even bet-
ter semester in the Spring.
We have already begun planning for our annual Derby Days Philanthropic event,
and we are hoping for a huge success.
We will be initiation 15 new brothers during the winter break and that is something
we are also looking forward to. As our chapter size grows, I believe that it is very important to maintain those
same values and traditions that have been instilled in myself and others from previous brothers. Although we
may be biased, we firmly believe that the Epsilon Tau Chapter at Murray State exhibits the most brotherhood
throughout campus.

2012 Homecoming
Alumni of Epsilon Tau,
I just would like to thank all the brothers and their girlfriends/wives who came out to homecoming this
year. I feel like it went very well and I was pleased with the way things turned out. The chapter put in a
lot of work this year to make this homecoming a success and we hope you all enjoyed yourselves! During
the welcome reception this year the chapter recognized brothers Bill Young and Clyde Adkins for their
continual support of the undergraduate chapter. Dr. Floyd Carpenter and Dr. Burton Young received Grand
Consul Citations for their many years of service to the chapter as members of the housing cooperation.
WA Franklin was honored for his military service and pinned with the Sigma Chi Military Pin. The Gamma
Xi Pledge Class celebrated their 10 year initiation anniversary this year and to honor the occasion the
pledge class donated a beautiful granite and marble Sigma Chi Cross inlay for the main foyer of the house. Brother
Art Bauernfeind had the honor the College of Business named in his honor. I would strongly encourage all alumni that
couldn't make it this year to make plans to attend next year's homecoming. It would be great if we could get twice as
many of our alumni to come out than we have had in the past few years to come and have a good time! I would also
like to thank all of you that donated money to the Delta Mu pledge class and to our house improvement ideas, I know
the pledges appreciated it as well as we did. We appreciate all that you guys do for us and I promise we do not take
for granted the amazing chapter and history that this incredible place has as we look to keep improving. Thank you all and happy holidays to
everyone!!!
