President’s Messageby Rob Cimler

It’s now October which means we are quickly approaching election time. No, I am not talking about the upcoming national election. I’m talking about elections for your Jersey Shore Region board of directors. By the time you read this, you should have received an e-mail notifying all members of the nominating committee’s initial selection of candidates. By no means is this to say these nominees are necessarily the new elected officers for the next two years. If you would like to run for a position, we encourage you to throw your hat in the ring. Maybe you know a fellow JSR member who would be a strong candidate. If so, nominate them (with their concurrence of course). When the final list of all nominated candidates is finalized, voting will be done by means of an e-mail ballot.

This process is being implemented for several reasons, perhaps most impor-tantly is transparency. This is your club and you should have a voice in who your elected officers will be. We are also hoping to spark some interest in bringing up new talent. Now, even if you feel you are not quite ready for the position of President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer (the four elected positions), we are always looking for JSR members to get more involved in the club. Whatever your interests are within the club, chances are you have some skills or expertise that we can use.

Take a look on this page at the Officer Listings in the Shoreline. If you’ve been with JSR at least a few years, you’ll notice many of the same members have held their positions for some time. Several are dual-hatted. We have a great group of officers and staff that are extremely dedicated. The club is better for their hard work and dedication and while many will volunteer to continue in their positions, I know that some would be just as happy to hand the reigns over to one of you.

So what I am saying is, if you are care how the club is run, have some good ideas about improvements, and can carve out just a few hours each month, we truly hope you’ll decide to step forward to volunteer your services. I will say, the pay is lousy but the rewards are a stronger club and a feeling of satisfac-tion, knowing you had a part in it. To discuss the possibilities, you can seek out any officer during one of our events, call us, e-mail us or send a note by carrier pigeon. However you do it is fine as long as you make the move to get more involved. The future direction of our club is counting on it.

Wow what a 50th Anniversary event! A special thanks

to Bill Casey and all the officers on the JSR PCA board.

What a special display on hand. Great Job!

2011 Each year, Porsche Dealers throughout the coun-

try compete vigorously with their peers for the right to be

called “Premier Dealer”. Achieving this accolade requires

a consistently high level of performance, and singular fo-

cus throughout one’s entire organization.

In prior years, the Premier Dealer title was reserved for

the 25 Dealerships scoring highest in all of the measured

areas. And so it was intended to again have 25 Premier

Dealers for 2011. However, the competition was particu-

larly fierce this year and there was little separation among

the top performers and the roster includes 30 names.

Out of the New York and New Jersey region, Schneider +

Nelson Porsche was the only dealer to receive this rec-

ognition and again a winner of the title of Premier Dealer.

The Cayenne S Hybrid - yup HYBRID what a cool piece

of engineering! A parallel full hybrid vehicle, meaning that

it is powered by both a conventional combustion engine

and by a battery – driven electric motor. The vehicle pow-

ers via either of these power sources, or both simulta-

neously. The hybrid technology is consistent with Porsche

performance an engineering philosophy of continually

pursuing enhanced performance and greater efficiency

with lower emissions. Keep your seatbelts buckled and

we anticipate the vehicle arriving in the next few weeks.

Dealer PerspectiveIt’s officially fall, and the weather is perfect for some nice long drives and car shows. As many of you are aware, we recently hosted the Porsche Clubs Concourse event. We would like to thank Gary Hamilton and the entire Board for putting on a great event. Over 30 cars showed up and we were happy to share our facility with some very passionate Porsche people. Congratulations to all those who won a trophy, and thank you to every-one who came.Although our event schedule at the dealership has slowed down for the time being, please keep an open eye for things to come.

As always, Drive Safe and Drive Fun!

“Unique” Concours de Elegance 2012

Another Concours with blue sky and great weather. The perfect day for a gathering of beauti-ful Porsches. Can it get much better than that? The Unique Concours held on Sep-tember 23rd, spon-sored by the Jersey Shore Region together with Schneider+Nelson Porsche, has become somewhat of an early fall tradition. There were cars from various PCA regions, including out of state. In fact, there was one participant who drove 3 hours that morning from central Pennsylvania. Many thanks to all, but especially to the owners of the numer-ous Porsches that participated. The quality of the cars in the Concours was as always quite remarkable. It again showed how with the right care and attention to detail, cars can be maintained in outstanding condition, even those higher mileage ones. Award trophies were presented to the top winners in several classes of Porsches.

Unique Concours winners included:

911s 1989 and older; 1st Rich Okun, 2nd Scott Patterson, 3rd Allan Lopena

911s 1990 and newer (aircooled); 1st Ed Malcolm, 2nd Oliver Kamp, 3rd Kevin Lehmann

911s liquid cooled; 1st Jeff Cruz, 2nd George Andrews, 3rd Mark Sivin

914s; 1st Dennis O’ConnerBoxster / Caymans; 1st Doga Ozturk

Every participant received a Porsche hat and other goodies made available by Schneider+Nelson Porsche. There were no losers in this event, only winners. Food and refreshments were provided by Schneider+Nelson. Love that barbeque. From the way the food disappeared,

I’d say everyone enjoyed it. So, if you missed out on this event, we’re sorry that you didn’t make it. Maybe next year. Thanks to those Jersey Shore Region folks who as usual turned out to help. Thanks to Bill Kreig, Rob Cim-ler, Nick Trocchia and Scott Patterson. Special thanks to Greg Pfremmer for the con-cours sign and for the great certificates of participation that all received. And many thanks to Tim Cahill and the Schneider+Nelson team for

all their support and help in preparing for and running the event. The ability to utilize their great facility and the assistance provided are much appreciated. Of course, many thanks to all those who participated and the many who came to see the event. So, keep those Porsches polished and remem-ber to drive them too. After all, that’s what they were de-signed for. Hope to see you at some other Jersey Shore Region events. In the meantime, enjoy taking a look at the pictures of the Concours provided in the Shoreline.

It’s been quite some time for most of us, since we have raced at Summit Point, West Virginia. The last weekend of September, 2012 was the Porsche Club race and D.E.. Bodymotion Racing had a busy weekend and Friday test day with customers Rob Cimler, Jim Pappas, Andrew Baxter, Mike Gussis and Ralph Marra. Crew member’s Geoff Abel, Paul Schwartz, Pat Gumley, Alex Saker and myself were kept quite busy. Actually, that’s putting it mild, everyone was on their game, drivers and crew alike. Jim Pappas ran his 2002 996 in the GTB1 class. This GT class allows for cars to be lightened in overall weight from the stock or street classes. Jim still drives his car on the street, so certain items ,like door glass, power windows, heater and passengers seat need to stay in the car. Even at this disadvantage of being overweight (his #202 car not Jim,) Jimmy finished on the podium in all three of his sprint races. Along with his wife, Hope and mascot Hudson, they had a great time watching Jim on track and the Bodymotion crew thrashing in the paddock. Not to worry, the aforementioned “thrash” did not involve JSR member Mike Gussis. He and Bodymotion driver coach Rob Slonaker worked together, gathering data , on track coaching to help Mike perfect his line and lower his lap times. Mike’s 2006 Cayman S runs in stock PCA class “H”. This, as I have been saying over the past few years, has become one of the most hotly contested and largest car count classes in all of PCA racing. Over 18 cars were registered and included first generation Cayman S, along with 996, 993, and 964 RS America models. It’s quite a show when you see that 10 of those in class qualified within ½ second of each other!! Makes for fun racing. Ralph Marra joined us for the weekend in his ITC 2012 Cayman S. His 21 car runs in the same class as Jim Pappas GTB1. Although Ralph’s #21 is significantly lighter than Jim’s, the Cayman is still over weight by 200 pounds. Ralph has never seen Summit Point so he started 15 seconds off the field pace in practice Friday morning running in the 1:33 second lap times. But soon,

Ralph and team coach Rob Slonaker worked very hard at consistency and correct, repeatable track position and they were rewarded with Ralph’s best lap in the mid 1:21 seconds. Ralph finished 2nd in GTB1 in all three sprint races and garnered the “best prepared” car award for his beautiful, shinny and unscathed Cayman. Jim, Mike and Ralph’s cars were all brought home as clean and shiny as they had left the Bodymotion shop a few days earlier .

So much for clean shinny car stories. On Friday, in afternoon practice, while exiting the fast downhill right hand turn 4 (100 mph) , Rob Cimler’s # 787 SPB (spec Boxster) lost control and crashed heavily. I was on the radio along with crew chief Geoff Able. Geoff was on the front straight and I was on the outside of turn 7 in the top row of the bleachers. I was communicating with

drivers to help them with their brake points, turn in etc. It appeared that Rob caught the right side curb and sent the car loose. It was a frightful sight and I caught every second of it. Unfortunately so did Rob. The car swapped ends and without losing any speed it went backwards, thru a short area of grass and hit the tire wall almost head on. The chassis then bounced into the air and it came down on the right side door, the car was a breath away from rolling on its roof. As the dust settled I called Rob on the radio. “are you ok?” No answer three times. I asked if he could hear me please wave his arms or drop the driver’s window net. Nothing, as the corner workers rushed to his aid. Fortunately, Rob although the wind knocked from him, came to and told us on the radio he was ok. He was quite wobbly when I saw him walk away from the scene. The medical staff concurred with Rob and they set him free, when he returned to the paddock is when he got sick. He saw the Bodymotion crew tearing what was left of the Boxster apart. We replaced the front bumper, both radiators, straightened or repaired the broken head lamps, front fenders, radiator supports, the hood, hood latch, hinges and rebuilt the hood pins. Both driver and

passenger doors were destroyed, so we beat them back to shape. We reattached both side mirrors with two rolls of duct tape. After checking the wheel alignment at 10:00 pm Friday night, we concluded that the rear suspension was either bent or broken. Saturday morning had us changing out the rear suspension upright and repairing the mangled exhaust system. The right rear quarter panel had to be pried out for tire clearance. We finished the “repairs” as his class went on track for qualifying. Rob got back on his horse on managed a lap within one tenth of his previous session!!! The track announcers had a field day describing the repairs and sending accolades thru the PA system and kudos to the Bodymotion crew for their “all nighter” repairs. Actually, it only took us half the night and half Saturday morning. Rob ran all of his sprint races, finishing in the top three and also competed in Sunday’s 60 minute enduro. Congratulations to Rob and everyone involved in getting him back on track. So that’s it, that’s all you guys had to do?Not a chance, that was Fridays action that just carried over into Saturday. Saturday saw qualifying in all classes and then two sprint races. Andrew Baxter in his #12 2008 Cayman S ran in the stock “H” class along with Mike Gussis. He along with diver coach Bruce MacInnes worked to get Andrew’s lap times within a second of the class leaders. This was also Andrew’s first race at this circuit. Andrew worked his way to a second place finish in race one. During his afternoon race where he started 8th, he had managed to work his way to first in class and third overall!!! Late in the race exiting turn 8, a very fast uphill right hander, the car got loose when the throttle blipped, perhaps from a low fuel level. As most track drivers know,

TTO or trailing throttle over steer can work with you or ,as in this case, most decidedly against you. Andrew went off course at better than 80 mph backwards. The car struck the tire wall, which is backed by a sand embankment. The car bounced up over the tire wall and continued, backwards into the trees. From Mike Gussis’ in-car video it looked like the front of a Cayman on a roadside bill board. They had to winch the car out of the woods. Andrew was shaken but unhurt. Surrounded after his trip to medical, by his Mom , Dianne and dad Bob, and crew as he regaled his backwards journey in the abyss. Meanwhile the Bodymotion crew began its survey of damage. Because of the rearwards trajectory the lower body under shields and front radiator mounts where literally ripped out. We replaced the center and right radiators, hoses and mounts, Alex stitched the front bumper together and Patrick bled and filled the cooling system meanwhile, Paul and myself proceeded to replace the transmission housing, remove all the trans oil cooler hoses, pumps and radiator. We replaced the entire right side rear suspension and uprights. The exhaust system was a complete total loss, so we cut it off and dumped the hot gases right straight to the pavement. We almost spent all night on this one, but, three rolls of duct tape, wire ties and hours of labor including an alignment and Andrew made his Sunday sprint race. He also shared his car with me and we ran Sundays enduro with one mangled car. The track announcers once again sang the praise of our crew and how hard we all worked together to keep our guys on track. No driver missed a single session, practice or race. It was a very long weekend, but everyone returned home safe. Only to unpack and repack in two days we leave for Road America for our ITC run offs.

Club Racing: A Rookie Goes To Summit Pt., WV

Continued on next page

Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia was to be my final race of the season. It was, without a doubt, an extremely eventful weekend. I’d be joined by fellow racers Mike Gussis, Jim Pappas, Andrew Baxter and Ralph Marra. Ralph and Andrew were new to the track but Mike, Jim and I have experience here. Apart from some initial dampness on Friday morning, the weather was perfect all weekend.

As is usual for me, the first practice session of the day on Friday was nothing to brag about, managing just a 1:29.0. As the day went on though, my lap times improved, falling to 1:27.6 in Practice 2 and then to 1:26.6 in Practice 3. Concentrating my efforts on the most important turns, I was making some good gains. One of those key turns is Turn 4, known as The Chute which is a high speed right hand downhill sweeper. It’s easily one of the most intimidating turns we encounter at any track due to the combination of speed and lack of runoff room on the outside. With a good mental approach and seeing how well balanced the car felt there, I kept working towards taking it a bit faster each time with less of a throttle lift before turn in. I was now within 0.8 seconds of the fastest guy in my SPB class which was encouraging.

The last session of the day was the practice starts and fun race. As the fun race settled in, I had some clean air and was looking to close in on a group of cars ahead. On one particular lap, I took Turn 4 too tight, putting the right wheels over the curbing. Not a good turn to do that since the curbing there is very high. When the car jumped the curb,

it kicked to the right. This was the moment that time slowed down in my mind. I think I knew then that this was trouble. Although I counter-steered to try to recover, the rate of yaw was too much. There was no way to save it so I locked the brakes and let it spin. Willing the car to travel straight down the

track didn’t make it so. There was little doubt that I was headed towards the barriers on the right side. Still carrying a lot of speed, the car first clipped the tire walls on the front left corner then spun sharply and went hard into the tires nose first, coming to rest after a final half spin.

During the impact, the car had lifted off the ground and although that tossed me around some, I knew once it ended that I was uninjured. I made a call on the radio that I had crashed but heard no reply. In the minutes that followed, Mike Bavaro, who was sitting in the grandstands by Turn 7 and saw the crash, was trying to contact me, not knowing if I was

Continued from previous pagehurt. So too was the crew trying to radio me from pit lane.

It was an excruciatingly long wait inside the car as the practice race continued and time to feel the full gravity of the situation. In a blink of an eye, my weekend was over I thought and, worse yet, I had destroyed my car. All due to an error on my part of a few small inches. I eventually thought to check my radio connections and found the connector for my earbuds had pulled out during the crash. I plugged it back in and was able to communicate with the team, letting them know I was okay. Eventually, the track workers came to extract the car and bring it away on the flatbed. They saw that I did not need an ambulance, which was fine by me.

As soon as the car was offloaded in the paddock, Mike and crew immediately went to work assessing the damage. As bad as the car looked, they showed not the slightest hint that the car was too far gone to attempt repairs. They all went into repair mode and Mike was busy working the phone and some contacts there at the track, obtaining replacement parts. If they were willing to put this kind of work in to get the car fixed, it was a good sign. It just might be repairable.

While they continued work, I needed to fill out an incident report and get checked out by the medical staff. Back in the paddock, the Bodymotion crew were working as hard as ever. Then, one of my fellow Spec Boxster drivers came by and made an incredibly selfless gesture. He had a set of used but clean bumper covers with him at the track that he was willing to sell me for what he paid for them. Mike recommended that I take him up on the offer, which I did. Still, it was far from certain that the car could be repaired but Mike and crew were working towards that goal.

I woke the next morning with not a hint of soreness from the crash, a testament to the effectiveness of the tire walls and my safety equipment. When I arrived at the track, the crew, having already worked late the night before, were back on it since they found additional rear suspension damage after trying to align it. Again, with no letting up, more parts were replaced. Once the mechanical repairs were all done, we still had to patch up the bodywork as much as possible to pass scrutineering. I pitched in to help cover my newly obtained yellow bumper with black tape when Mike, checking the time told

me “Go get dressed”. As I changed into my driving gear, Mike and the crew put the finishing touches on the repair and took it to tech. It passed tech because when I came out of my trailer, the car was warming up and ready for me to get to qualifying – my first session of the day. I was in absolute amazement that I was actually driving my car to grid for qualifying.

Out I went and would take the first couple of laps to feel the car out. It tracked straight and ran as well as it had on Friday. This session was just as much about testing me out. You better believe that I stayed clear of the Turn 4 apex curbing this session. I was given the gift of running my car again and there could be no repeats of yesterday. Not intending to be overly conservative, I still only managed a 1:28.0 lap. Not where I was heading after Friday’s practice but still situated second out of the three Spec Boxsters. As I completed my cool down lap and drove through the pits, I got a lot of heartwarming receptions and thumbs ups from the corner workers and event volunteers. They too couldn’t believe I was back out there.

It was time to race now. Sprint Race 1 provided some excitement both at the start and throughout the race. Going head to head with another SPB car, whom I qualified quicker than, he raced me well and got by me. There were places I could have gone faster but those happened to be areas that are hard to make a pass. He got me in the end and I had to settle for third in class.

Before the start of my group’s Sprint Race 2, we would complete a “Missing Man Pace Lap.” This was planned from the first drivers meeting on Friday and was to honor a corner worker and racer, Dick Hummel and his wife Dottie, who tragically lost their lives in a car accident just days before. In a manner similar to the missing man formation in military aviation, the race cars enter the track in normal formation. The pole position car then drops back one position, leaving the pole position vacant as the cars continue for one lap around the track. As our cars passed each station, the flaggers were out there and waved all the signal flags in salute to the memory of their lost friends. As we drove that lap, seeing all those flags waving and knowing their significance actually gave me goose bumps. It was a somber moment but what we were part of was something special.

We re-gridded for the race and had to switch

focus to the race ahead. This was a better race for me than the first. I had a good battle with a 914 for awhile. I got by him coming into Turn 1, was able to pull away and gapped him. I improved from my finishing position of 16 overall in the first race to 12 out of 33 finishers and second in SPB.

Some more bad news came for the Bodymotion crew, promising another long night to come. In the sprint race that preceded mine, Andrew suffered a crash of his own. He was not hurt but the car was damaged about as bad as mine was a day earlier. As they did with my car, the crew was intent on getting the car torn down so it can be repaired.

On Sunday, there would be a third sprint race in the morning and 60 minute enduro races in the afternoon. My sprint race started out with some good, fun battles. The 914 that I was dicing with the day before again provided the amusement. He made some slick passes on me, but clean. As in Race 2, I got by him for a final time then opened a healthy gap. From then, I was on my own for the race, finishing 11 overall and second in class.

For the enduro, my goal was to obviously keep it clean but also compete well. It was not without its moments of drama. About 20 minutes into the race, I felt a bad vibration from the front end in right turns. My first thought was the front left tire had gone flat. I radioed in that I needed to pit and the crew scrambled to get a spare wheel from my trailer. I was in pit lane on my own for awhile with the clock ticking, trying to stay calm. The crew arrived and what they found was a broken wheel stud. The vibration I felt was the wheel loosening from the other nuts starting to back out. They tightened and torqued the remaining four lug nuts and told me I should be alright. I trusted their assessment and was willing to chance it to finish the race.

This all happened within a few minutes and I was even able to take in a drink. My stopwatch showed that we could still time it out to do a perfect five minute pit stop, which I did. Just minutes into my second stint, there was a group of faster cars getting by me, one being the lead SPB car. In Turn 5, the Spec Boxster went off track. As I was going around Turn 6, I knew why. The track was oiled. The entire Carousel was treacherous and I had my hands full keeping the car on the track. Many cars pitted at

this point, thinking a full course caution may result but, having served my mandatory pit stop, I stayed out.

The path of spilled oil went from Turn 2 all the way to pit in. I adjusted my line to avoid the oil and backed my pace down. Eventually, the track did come back on its own. Having almost spun a couple of times when the oil was put down, I was perhaps too slow to bring my pace back up. I finished the race toward the end of the field but was happy to make it to the end, all things considered.

In the other enduro group, the cars of Mike Gussis and Andrew Baxter finished without incident as well. Mike Bavaro was co-driver in Andrew’s car, which had some handling problems. It was still good to see it out there after seeing the Saturday crash damage.

Though my lap times for the Sunday races were back in the 1:27.5’s, this was still nearly a second slower than my best of the weekend and far off the SPB leader’s times. I’d have to say that the crash definitely clipped my wings a bit in spite of efforts to overcome it. I know that crashes do happen and bouncing back is all a part of the learning process.

There were a vast mix of emotions felt throughout the weekend. For certain, the event would have been a complete and utter disaster had it not been for the great support I received from Bodymotion. Mike Bavaro and his crew consisting of Geoff Abel, Pat Gumley, Alex Saker and Paul all have my highest admiration and thanks. They will say they were just doing their jobs but I know how hard they worked and put the extra effort in to get everyone’s cars going. I am grateful for what they did and proud to be associated with such a great team.

That concludes my rookie season. It has been quite a ride and I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about my exploits. Throughout this series, I’ve talked about races that were decided by reliability, preparation or experience. It’s only fitting that this last race focused on the people. Be it the crew members, fellow racers or track workers, we are part of an extended family with a passion for doing something we love. It is remarkable seeing how people help each other out when the chips are down and says to me what PCA Club Racing is all about.

Thanks for reading.

Road America, Elkhart lake Wisconsin ,October 7, 2012, Gary Brousell with co-driver Rob Slonaker take the checkered flag after 3 hours of enduro action. With speeds exceeding 150 mph, this is one of Americas fastest race courses. And despite heavy damage sustained in a turn 12 crash earlier in the weekend to their Cayman race car,(then repaired by the Bodymotion trackside crew), the pair managed lap times of 2:30 seconds. Combined with two fuel and

two tires stops by the Bodymotion crew, the team hauled in a first place in class and overall race win. Notice the Daytona Prototype at the start, which by race half length had a 5 lap lead on the pair of Bodymotion racers, however it was an endurance event and the #10 Bodymotion built Porsche Cayman S prevailed. Congratulations to Gary and driver coach, co-driver, and good friend Rob Slonaker for a fast, fun and safe race to close the 2012 NASA/ITC season

Here we are at Summit Point West Virginia, last weekend of September, Autumn is in the air, the season is winding down, and Bodymotion Racing brings five cars to the annual PCA club race. Only two of our drivers ,Mike Gussis and Rob Cimler had taken the time to attend a D.E. earlier in the season at Summit to prepare. Two of the drivers were new to the track Ralph Marra and Andrew Baxter, Jim Pappas and I were the only two veterans of this old windy circuit. Everyone did well and all of our drivers posted top or near top times in their respective classes. Andrew Baxter competed in “H” class with Mike Gussis, both driving Bodymotion prepared, generation one, Cayman S’s. During Saturdays second sprint race, Andrew was leading “H” class and was in third place overall. A fantastic achievement given his overall rookie status and first time at this circuit. As Andrew exited turn 8, a very fast right hand turn leading to the short chute leading to the front straight ( 90 mph entry, 110 mph exit) the entry appeared a bit early, possibly dropping the left wheels slightly off track, Andrew appears to have reacted to save, what may have been a drive straight off, but as he corrected the rear got loose, see the first of the sequence of photos. Our team and ITC photographer Ken Hills, was right there, with Andrew in his cross hairs. Check out these fantastic shots as Andrew struggled for control and eventually

lost to the grass on the exit of the corner. Note that he went off track and continued backwards into the tire wall. The explosion of tires, dirt and mud, sent the car over the turn 8 tire wall and earthen embankment. The car came to rest against a stand of trees. Andrew was shaken but unhurt. The extraction of the car from the woods was quite a feat by the safety and recovery team. When the car was brought back to the paddock we were all trying to figure out how to get it off the flatbed and how we were going to get it into our transporter for the ride home. However, the tenacity of the Bodymotion crew, the fact that we had some 15 hours on our hands until Andrew’s next race, and that we had ALL OF THE PARTS, including a spare transmission, radiators, front and rear suspensions, we decided to make a go of it. We rebuilt, aligned and had the car ready for Sunday mornings practice. I took the car out to make sure it was safe and track worthy as Andrew’s’ Mom and Dad watched nearby. Was the car safe to drive? Yes, I told them, would it be as fast, no, I told them, so the crew went back to work with alignment tools, toe plates and strings to do a full realignment and chassis set up. All in time for Sunday’s sprint race where Andrew started from DEAD LAST to finish third in class. Andrew invited me to share the

afternoon enduro action with him and we had a great time. Moral of the story: never give up! Lesson learned from the story: always have Bodymotion support you at the race track, and finally; Suggestion of the story: get to know our photographer Ken Hills, he is a great photographer, on and off track.

October, 2012 Elkhart Lake Wi Historic, Road America.

The ITC season finale and the P2 class championship was on the line for Bodymotion team driver Scott Leder. Scott lead the points battle by a slim margin and had to run well to stay ahead. Friday practice, where’s Scott? A work conflict kept him away from the track until Saturday’s qualifying session. Having never run this track in a race car and with no practice Scott laid down a lap of 2:33.01, good enough to qualify second in class! Working with data and on board video, Scott and Bodymotion Team race coach Rob Slonaker studied his line as the Bodymotion track crew made adjustments to the car. Race one Scott finished where he started, second place to winner Geoff Isringhausen Jr who is racing at his home track. Race two with the championship on the line Scott needs a top finish to lock up his points position. The pace lap….an excruciatingly slow

Scott Leder Nabs ITC P2 Season Championshippace lap around the 4.048 mile circuit giving competitors time to think back on a long season of racing…too late, the call comes over the radio Green Green Green!!! Scott hammers the throttle down the long front straight, making moves, managing traffic for the 35 minute spring race. Checkered flag another second place in class, Two podiums in one day, that’s it Scott wins the 2012 ITC P2 season Championship! Congratulations Scott for a well deserved championship.
