Pachim K’Tanim From Rabbi Yudin: In honor of Parashat Sh’lach It is interesting to note which Mitzvos come immediately after the tragic incident of the spies; namely Nesachim (15:1-16), and Challah (16-21). Rashi by Nesachim teaches that this was chosen to uplift their spirits, and assure them that their children would enter the promised land. Reguarding Challah, he goes much beyond. Many suggest that the sin of the spies was motivated by their being in a spiritual cocoon in the desert, their food from heaven, and Hashem taking care literally of all their needs. Who would want to leave this Utopia? Rashi notes (15:18) that the amount of dough required for Challah is the same amount of Mun that came to each person in the dessert. Now coming into the land of Israel, we can take Lechem Ha-Aretz and re-cycle it into Lechem Min Hashamayim. To uplift the mundane is a greater spiritual high then imbibing the Divine. WOW! The ceremony included an address to the children by Rabbi Yudin, a video presentation of the year's highlights and musical perfor-mances by the children. We thank Andrew Wigod for the special bra-chot books that each child received in commemoration of the 11th yhartzeit of his mother, Cheryl Wigod, zl. The Wigod family endowed our school many years ago in memory of their mother and grandmother, Leah Sokoloff, zl.
