Work days may be changing as we are adding additional days to work on the faith build.

Please check back for updates here and during announcements on Sunday mornings!

Families who are collecting money in their “house banks” for the build can turn them in

anytime between today and May 3. On Sunday, May 3 (Children’s Sunday), we will collect the remaining banks. Submit your banks to either

Ashley Johnson or Maria Bowers.

PSALM 65: A PRAYER FOR EARTH DAY 2015

It is good to give thanks for the boundless mercy, which renews us and makes us whole.

Happy are those who know this and open themselves to the Light and sing—You make the sunrise and the sunset shout for joy. You are the earth’s fertility. Your law governs her cycles of snow, run-off, flood, and rain. You crown the year with abundance. The wild lands are watered with dew. The hills deck

themselves with green. The meadows adorn themselves with flocks. The valleys gown

themselves with grain. They dance together. They join in song. Glory to You, Creator and Sustainer—glory to You for the awesome gift

of life.

NEW MID-SIZE BUS NEEDED

Newnan FUMC owns and operates three vehicles of different sizes for various church

trips. After 16 years of operation, the time has come to replace “The Middle Bus” as it is

commonly called. It has become increasingly costly to operate this 22 passenger bus because it needs frequent repairs. The

Transportation Committee is looking to purchase a new 2015 bus with 25 passenger

capacity. The cost is $57,500 plus tax.

As of today: Only $2,235 to go!

Please help us reach our goal before the Youth Choir leaves to go on their annual choir tour in late May. Make sure to indicate “bus fund” in

the memo/for line of your checks.

GRADUATING COLLEGE STUDENT INFORMATION NEEDED

Please submit the college graduate’s name, their college, and their degree to the church

office by May 15th so that their accomplishments can be shared and

celebrated by their church family!

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INITIATIVE

Last weekend, Ashley Johnson (Children’s Minister) traveled to Lake Junaluska, NC for the United Methodist Women’s Leadership Development Days (picture on p. 5). Ashley was assisting with

the Domestic Violence multi-session workshop helping train advocates to train others in their faith community. The workshop taught dynamics of abuse with particular attention to the religious and spiritual issues that surface for victims/survivors of faith; explored the ways that family violence relates to homelessness, poverty, and food insecurity; and connected participants to resources

available to guide them in their leadership roles and empower their faith community to be a positive force in ending violence and abuse.

Ashley was selected last year by the national office of UMW to serve a two year position with their Domestic Violence Initiative. This is a joint initiative between United Methodist Men, United Methodist Women, and United Methodist Youth to help raise awareness and action surrounding

domestic violence issues. More information can be found on the Domestic Violence Initiative Facebook page: facebook.com/UMWDVI

PRESCHOOL NEWS The preschool will be honoring our Newnan Police Officers with a presentation of

a painting the students made (picture on p.5). The painting is an American flag made with handprints of the preschool children. A plaque will be presented as well. It is our hope that the painting will be hung in the new Police Department

facility.

Also, the preschool families donated 287 boxes of crayons to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. It was brought to our attention that the hospital was in

need of crayons for the children to use while they are patients. I put the request to the parents and they generously donated! Thank you so much, parents, for

your generosity!

Don’t forget to register for Preschool Summer Enrichment. There is room in ALL classes for ALL weeks.

We still have room in several preschool classes for the 2015-2016 school year. Please call (770.253.1237) if you are interested, or pass it on to a friend!
