Summer Solstice June 21 The timing of the solstice depends on when the Sun reaches its farthest point north of the equator. It appears to stop at this time (and again at the winter sol- stice). Here in California, we notice that the Sun is higher in the sky throughout the day, and its rays strike Earth at a more direct angle, causing the efficient warming that we call summer. This is the day with the most hours of sunlight during the whole year. What are some things that we can do that symbolize this day? Traditionally, summer solstice was cele- brated by dancing around a bonfire. In view of our recent experiences with fire, I wouldn’t suggest that, but you can light a fire in a safe fire bowl or burn incense or a candle. Cooking outside is an idea. Have a cook-out—-nothing is tasty as grilled food. Listen to songbirds! Relax and experience how happy the birds are in this season. Pamper yourself. 1-4 p.m. Psychic Fairs are held on the last Saturday of each month. Many readers available.

Carnelian

Page 2

Carnelian is one of the oldest gemstones and protective stones in history. Its name is derived from the

Latin corneolus, meaning “cherry.” Egyptians carried it about their person as a source of energy and for the constant renewal of vitality. In ancient Egypt it was placed in tombs as a “magic armor” for life after death.

It is a “feel better” stone. It helps with study, memory, inspiration, speech and the voice, and is good for live per-formers. It can relieve laziness and apathy and bring vitality, self-esteem, compassion, courage and personal power. This would be a very good stone to take with you on a meditation retreat.

The stone is used to promote good digestion and encourages the forma-tion of new blood cells, so bleeding responds favorably to treatment with carnelian. Someone with bleeding gums would benefit from regular rinsing with carnelian water. Drinking it helps firm the skin by stimulating the cir-culation.

Chakra associations are with the sacral chakra. Stop by and hold one in your hand and feel its energy. Making contact with the skin is important, so our carnelian bracelets at $5 would be a good choice. Or, for just 50₵, you can take an individual stone home with you.

Special Sale on all Card Decks

Up to 20% off!!

We have a variety of card decks in our store which include the popular Tarot cards as well as Oracle cards. Where did Tarot come from and exactly what do these cards do for you? The history of Tarot appears as mysterious as the cards themselves, with many different cultures laying claim to some connection, along with varying theories and speculation as to how they evolved. Notmatter which civilization, continent or timeline that has been investigated, there appears to be a common thread—that the Tarot was created using a secret code of symbols and images, to preserve the knowledge of a secret doctrine. Tarot readers learn the cards in order to receive their guidance and then lay these out for their clients to help them find meaning, clarification, or direction in one's life. If you have never had a reading, come to our monthly Psychic Fairs and see what it’s all about. Saturday, June 28, 1-4 is our next event and we have several readers for you to choose from.

We also have other card decks in addition to tarot—-oracle cards, angel decks and other varieties. Oracle cards and Tarot cards are similar in that they are both used for the same purpose – doing readings, ex-ploring oneself and divining the future. They differ in their structure. A Tarot deck follows a particular formula and has a specific number of cards (78 or 79). An Oracle deck is more free-form and the num-ber of cards can vary; plus they are easy to read right off the bat for most people since the meanings are usually written on the cards. Angel cards are a popular form of oracle cards. Actually learning Tarot re-quires some time and energy, but is very worthwhile if you have the interest. Other decks are not bound by any rules.

Now is the time to come in and check out our selection of card decks……..for yourself or a gift for someone else. These beautiful cards are ancient, time-tested divination tools that are based on the Law of Attraction in which cards are attracted to a person’s current thoughts and beliefs. Because our thoughts and beliefs create our future, the cards provide insight into the direction of relationships, ca-reers, finances, health and other areas. Plus, they are beautifully designed, so you will get a vibrational “high” just by going through the deck and absorbing the beautiful images.

What Is Iridology? June 22, 5-7:00 p.m.

Iridology is the study of the iris of the eye. It is a gentle, noninvasive way of identifying inherited strengths and weaknesses and areas of the body that need nutritional support. Iridology is a tool that can help us to understand the connection between the mind and the body. By recognizing specific markings within the iris, we can under-

stand whether we are introverted or extroverted, our genetic physical and behavioral patterns, patterns in the way we attract relationships, and many other ways in which we manage our lives. This class will cover a basic overview of the subject of iridology and its many facets. Library Donation. Info: Jon at [email protected]; (760) 443-4285; www.jensenholistichealth.com; www.bernardjensen.org Jon Jensen has been involved in holistic health for over 20 years, with experi-ence in Iridology, nutrition and personal self-development. Jon filled numerous roles over the years and participated in his grandfather’s many classes and projects. He was in-volved in research for his grandfather’s books, helping to pioneer a new way of iris analysis using the computer and assisting with seminars.
