The second year of Topsides, Platforms & Hulls Conference & Exhibition was held at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside in New Orleans, Louisiana from January 31 – February 2, 2012. The event attracted a record 731 attendees. Hundreds of colleagues and exhibiting companies benefitted from this high-level technical conference and exhibition and connected with key decision makers and technical experts directly involved in the topsides industry. Over three days, Topsides, Platforms and Hulls featured presentations covering technical issues, business challenges and future trends, plus showcased an exhibition of products and services from dozens of key engineering firms, contractors, suppliers and service providers. !

OPENING NIGHT NETWORKING RECEPTION

The event kicked off on Tuesday, January 31st with the opening night networking reception on the exhibit hall floor. From 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. attendees and exhibitors networked and mingled while enjoying food and beverages. !

OPENING PLENARY SESSION

The Opening Plenary Session was held from 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. and was open !to all registered attendees. !Eldon Ball, Conference Director, kicked off the session with a welcome and introductions. He also stood in for Matt Immel of El Paso Corporation, who was absent due to a work emergency, and gave the Chairmanʼs Opening Remarks. !!The keynote presentation was given by Dr. Scott Tinker on the subject of The Global Energy Transition. Dr. Tinker is the Director of the Bureau of Economic Geology & State Geologist of Texas, Professor, Allday Endowed Chair of Subsurface Geology, John A. and Katherine G. Jackson School of Geosciences, The University of Texas at Austin !
