TREASURE TALK

A Charming Lady and Delightful Site

“nicola white mudlark—Tideland Art” is the channel of Nicola White who has hunted the banks of the Thames River in London, England for several years. I have enjoyed many of her videos and her hosting many of the top on line metal detectorists in doing videos of her escorting them mudlarking. Larking in the mud of the Thames refers to browsing and occasionally making a withdrawal from one of the greatest banks of stored antiquity on the planet. A keen eye is as good as a metal detector here as much of the treasure is glass or ceramic/clay items. Nicola is a master of mudlarking and has a wonderous grasp of his-tory as well as artifact identification. I hope to talk him into visiting us when he is in town to visit his mother, Check out the vid-eos of “the Hunter GT”. He is a distributer for Nokta-MAKRO Detectors and has ties to Fisher/First Texas as well. He is in the bay area and makes park and beach hunting videos. He is currently getting to know the new Simplex+ entry priced detector that has near Equi-nox performance for half the price of a 600! I recently heard from a local YouTube video maker, detectorist and resident of Oceano, Mi-chael Swan (MichaelSwan66). We teasingly refer to him as the Running Man– not be-cause he reminds us of Arnold in spandex, but he covers the beach at a brisk pace. His videos of local hunting are worth a watch and you might find him on the beach! Note to Members: If you have any metal detecting related stories, news items, items to sell or tips and hints that you want to share please text or e-mail the Search Coil editor, Tom 805 680-4153; [email protected].

SCAVENGER HUNT NEWS!

Due to the luck of the draw our last Scavenger Hunt was a toughie. Only Wayne Mills could

come up with even 10 of the 15 items! Our new list of items looks to be much more in

reach for us mortals. Any finds this month and the next 3 months are valid so make a list

and check it often!
