MOCK UP
We built a mock up for the Projectograph onMonday. Having a mock up was important forus because it is extremely hard to explain thelogic before we have working model. While it didshow the idea behind how the device would work, the motor simply was not strong enough toproduce any decent results. We learn that we would need more powerful motor for the finalproduct that we expected. So we are taking it intoconsideration.
RESEARCH
We conducted extensive research onprojectors, LED displays and LCDs. Although allthe mothods have their pros and cons, we foundout that refresh rate was the most importantdecision factor. Because the preconception wehad for a necessary refresh rate was actually about10 times smaller than what we actually need. Inlight of this, we began researching fasterprojectors and started moving towards looking atLED displays and LCDs that have a higherrefresh rate ( 120-480hz ) because they are muchmore economic even faster than projectors. According to the market research so far, these are viable options for the Projectograph.

DESIGN
We came up with the initial design of theform factor. Currently we are contacting BenCarter who fabricated the form factor for the 5thSuit( WMS ) last semester. It is expected to take 4 weeks for design finalization and 1 week for himto build from the experience working with Benlast semester.
The form factor will have lower level andupper level. The upper level is where the display isspinning and forming volumes. Computers andother small components will also be in the upperlevel to be connected with the display. To keep itsafe, gantries will support the display from topand bottom. The lower level is for motors and gears. We are going to minimize the motor'sspinning speed using gears with diff erent sizes. The slip ring and spinning pole connected to thesecond gear is going to penetrate both levels. For
transportation’ssake, it wil lhave wheels atthe bottom of the lower level.

3D-to-Volumetric SoftwareWe researched on applications that would benefit the
Projectograph the most. It was difficult pick one solid applicationbecause its potential relevance spans numerous fields, including medicine, military, marketing, gaming, education, academic researchand so on. After a long debate, we all agreed on 3D -to-VolumetricSoftware idea and initialized software development. Because,
it fits on Lockheed Martin's interest areas.
it is perfect for showcasing the Projectograph.
we can use terrain data of USGS.
it meets all teammates interests.
The ProsthetoscopeWe decided to work with Droid X of Motorola. Because EVO of
HTC, the only other mobile phone we were considering, is provennot to support the HDMI video output functionality as we need. So we ordered Droid X and it is expected to be delivered by next Thursday, September 23th.
Meanwhile, we are going to develop the software with Androidemulator. So far, we accomplished to have Google Maps application
working on the emulator. Also we are figuring out how to load 3Dmodels in the Android environment.
