He is best known for his innovative design, physics research and overseeing the construction of the gigantic CMS Experiment at CERN located 100 meters underground in a vast cathedral-like cavern at the Large Hadron Collider.

Sir Tejinder, also Professor of Physics at Imperial College in London, was named a Knight Bachelor for his services to science in the queen’s Birthday Honours List, released in June 2014.

Sir Tejinder, the citation reads, is one of the UK’s most distinguished physicists and, as one of the creators of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) Experiment, he has made outstanding contributions to science.

The CMS experiment, at the Large Hadron Colliderat CERN in Geneva, has delivered seminal results in particle physics, including the groundbreaking

discovery of the Higgs Boson, a particle that gives mass to other particles.

Beyond his innovative work in particle physics, he is also a great campaigner for science, and promoter of science and education in India and in Africa where he was born.

Sir Tejinder, developed new technologies within the detector that allowed it to find the Higgs - the mechanism that explains how fundamental particles acquire mass, and ultimately explains why our universe has substance.

Asked how he felt upon receiving the news, he said, “This was a complete surprise to me. it’s really quite humbling and of course i’m delighted to receive it. The Higgs boson is a very special type of particle - a type we’ve never seen before. it has unusual properties that we need to study and understand in more detail” he said. Sir Tejinder celebrated his knighthood in style.

“My wife Vatsala and i had three grand and memorable events. Celebrations kicked off last summer with a garden party around our swimming pool in Geneva with my scientific colleagues, friends and family. another event was held in Birmingham, which my mother organized at the Sikh Gurdwara. And finally on 6 September, ramaben Oza, rashmi and Bharat Oza organized a big Bollywood bash in Cheshire at Vatsala’s family home. On the day of the Knighthood we opted to have a small intimate family luncheon in windsor following the official ceremony at Windsor Castle. This gave us a chance to really soak in the events of whole day, relax and talk about the Queen, prolonging the excitement of a truly fantastic day for all of us“.

tarting as a Ballet Star and Choreo-grapher, evolving into an impresario, promoter and event manager who also became a successful fine art collector, he certainly represents an exceptional personality in the world of art. Already as an 18 years old youngster he gained the position of Principal Dancer at the Royal Ballet in Amsterdam, followed by appointments at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the city where he founded 1980 the «Internationales Ballett Centrum Berlin» and becoming the director and organizer of Ballet productions enga-ging top ballet dancers from all over the world. As a promoter and impresario Michele Tiziano managed most famous artists such as the Genius of Ballet «Rudolf Nurejew», a close friend throu-ghout the years of fruitful cooperation. 1991 Tiziano organised the Farewell Tour

of this World Star through the U.K., Scandinavia

and Germany. Prior to

his premature death in 1996 Nurejew gave to his friend of many years Michele two portraits painted of him by «Pablo Picasso» in the year 1969 in Monte Carlo when Nurejew danced there with the «Ballets Russes».

Talented for singing since childhood and gifted by birth with a wonderful voice, he already was chosen at the age of 8 to perform the part of Heinerle in the operetta «Der fidele Bauer» at the «Pfalz Theater» in Kaiserslautern.This passion for music and singing remained part of Michele’s life and he finally became a manager of Opera Stars allowing him to meet and befriend the Star Tenor «Giuseppe Di Stefano», who soon decided to chose Michele as his manager. It was finally «Di Stefano» himself who convinced Michele Tiziano to become a tenor opera singer after having noticed the talent and excep-tional voice of his manager during a private informal performance..

As a guest performer Michele also sang at the «National Opera of Sophia» and in Prague. He is soon to sing there again, «I love to sing there», he announces. The tenor has lived many years in Geneva and his daughter still resides and studies there.The other passion in Michele’s life is the collection of fine art. It all started 40 years ago with the donation by his father of several paintings formerly owned by his grandfather, a collector active during the early years of the 20th century. ‘‘I guess that my passion for paintings is inherited from my grand-fathe’’ Michele says. Today he owns an important collection of modern and ancient masterpieces of museum qua-lity. Most of these he acquired during the last 40 years of his journeys over the world when he performed as an artist himself.The Swiss Opera Lovers may listen to Michele Tiziano on the 20th of March 2016 in the «Zurich Tonhalle». There he will sing in a concert with parts of Verdi and Puccini, honoring his great mentor «Giuseppe Di Stefano» and the unfor-gettable «Maria Callas».
