According to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), fiduciaries of covered retirement plans must carry out their duties prudently and act in the best interest of plan participants. Fiduciary responsibilities can include: choosing a provider to administer the plan, selecting an appropriate menu of investments and monitoring such providers and investments on an ongoing basis.

It has been said that ERISA’s prudence standard is one of the highest duties known to the law. Fulfillment of fidu-ciary duties will generally be measured by the steps a fiduciary takes to meet its obligations and whether a fiduciary has made informed and reasoned deci-sions. In fact, the Department of Labor and the courts have taken the position that fiduciaries without the knowledge or experience to make sound decisions

Richard S. Schwamb, C(k)P®Corporate Retirement DirectorSenior Vice PresidentFinancial Advisor

Richard Schwamb is a Senior Vice Presi-dent, Financial Advisor and Corporate Retirement Director at The Schwamb O’Day Group at Morgan Stanley. Rich-ard is among a select few of financial advisors at Morgan Stanley to earn the Corporate Retirement Director title. He has over 15 years of experi-ence providing customized services to meet the specific needs of retire-ment plan sponsors and participants alike. His specialized knowledge in 401(k), 403(b), Profit Sharing, ESOP, and Non-Qualified Deferred Com-pensation plans has earned him rec-ognition throughout the retirement plan industry. Richard also provides a wide range of executive financial planning services.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Richard spent nearly 16 years at Mer-rill Lynch as a leader in corporate retirement plans. He sat on Merrill Lynch’s Retirement Plan Financial Advisory Board and was selected by the firm as a Retirement and Philan-thropic Services Financial Advisor because of his focused experience in defined contribution and defined benefit plans. Richard has been rec-ognized as one of the industry’s top

50 Retirement Plan Advisors in the country by 401(k) Wire for two years in a row, and was named one of the Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisors by PLANSPONSOR Magazine for 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Richard joined Merrill Lynch in 1999, following a 20-year career as a Corporate Treasurer and Controller for Fortune 500 and 1,000-type com-panies. He is credited with starting one of the first 401k plans in the State of New Jersey. Richard’s extensive experience in corporate America brings valued insight to the over 200 companies and organizations he ser-vices across the country.

An alumnus of the Kings College in Pennsylvania with a B.S. degree in Business, Richard has continued to invest in his education throughout his long and rewarding career. In 1988, he earned his Master of Finance degree from Pace University, and in 2013, he received his C(k)P designation from The Retirement Advisory University. Richard also earned the prestigious accreditation of Accredited Retirement Plan Consultant from the Society of Professional Asset Managers and Record Keepers in 2008.

Richard’s commitment to his com-munity is reflected in his work with local non-profits and his involvement in philanthropy. Richard currently serves as Chairman of the Long Island chapter of The Financial Executives Networking Group (F.E.N.G.). He is also an active supporter of The Butch Mancini Memorial Scholarship Fund, Minority Athletes Networking (M.A.N.) and George Martin’s 9/11 Foundation.

A native of Greenwich, CT, Richard currently resides in Bellmore, NY, with his wife, Stacey, and their three children. When he is not working directly with his clients, you can find him spending quality time with his family. In his leisure time, Richard enjoys travel, skiing, fishing and hunting.

John O’Day is a Senior Vice President, Financial Advisor and Corporate Retire-ment Director of the Schwamb O’Day Group at Morgan Stanley. For more than 15 years, John has been providing highly customized advice, investment solutions and financial planning services to high net worth individuals, multi-generational families, small business owners, and corporate retirement plans in the New York City metro area.

Over the years, John has earned the reputation of truly understanding his client’s needs. He prides himself on the relationships he has nurtured during his tenure in the financial services industry, and strives to deliver an exceptional experience to his clientele, serving as their chief advocate. His ultimate goal is to develop a comprehensive portfolio that integrates their unique risk/return profile with estate conservation and tax planning strategies to help them achieve their financial goals and leave the legacy they desire.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2015, John worked at Merrill Lynch for 15 years as a Senior Financial Advi-sor and Certified Financial Manager. Before joining Merrill Lynch, John worked in the Corporate Treasury

departments of three Fortune 500 firms, including Standard Brands, Nabisco and Marsh & McLennan. This collective experience has given John a diverse set of skills and expertise that he has incorporated into his wealth management practice over the years.

John is a graduate of Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He received his M.B.A. in Finance from Fordham University. He is actively involved in several non-profit and industry organizations, including Team In Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and currently serves on the membership services com-mittee of the New York City Chapter of Financial Executives International.

A current resident of Rockville Center, John and his wife of 33 years, Regina, have three children, Connor, Michael and Aiden. When he is not working directly with his clients or guiding the organizations he supports, you can find him spending quality time with his family. He enjoys the beach, CrossFit training and is an avid New York Rang-ers hockey fan.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2015, Richard worked at Merrill Lynch and UBS. He became a member of The Schwamb O’Day Group in 2009 and is an important member of the Group’s leadership team. Richard’s philosophy is centered on having a focused plan and following a proven process for his clients. His investment recommendations follow suit. He believes in a disciplined approach to investing through asset allocation and diversification.

Growing up in Queens, Richard graduated from the School of Visual

Joshua B. Diamond is a Financial Advi-sor of The Schwamb O’Day Group at Morgan Stanley. With more than 15 years of experience in trading, invest-ment banking and wealth management, Joshua has developed a comprehensive and disciplined approach that is focused on helping corporations, individuals and families align their finances with their most important values.

Joshua began his career in financial services as a trader on Wall Street at Worldco, one of the largest proprietary trading firms at the time. One of the firm’s original traders, Joshua continued to take on more responsibility at Worldco, ultimately becoming one of eight manag-ing directors there. Joshua also worked at Echo Trade, before joining Cresta Capital as an Investment Banker in 2007.

Wanting to share his institutional knowledge and diverse set of skills with individuals and families, Joshua joined Merrill Lynch in 2011, where he knew he would have the opportunity to build more personal relationships with his clients. He became an integral team member of The Schwamb O’Day Group at Morgan Stanley in early 2015, where he continues to provide highly customized

advice, investment solutions and wealth management services to high net worth individuals, multigenerational families and business owners.

A graduate of the University of Mas-sachusetts at Amherst with a B.A. degree in Political Science, Joshua currently lives in Dix Hills with his wife, Michy, and their three children, Caleb, Sophie and Jayden. In his free time, Joshua enjoys mountain biking, racquetball, cooking, playing ping pong and coaching soccer for the Huntington Boys Club, a club on which he played when he was growing up in Dix Hills.

Lisa Jacaruso-Brennan is a Registered Senior Client Associate of The Schwamb O’Day Group at Morgan Stanley. Draw-ing on nearly 25 years of financial ser-vices experience, Lisa leads all aspects of the Garden City Group’s business management and client servicing ac-tivities and plays an integral role on their leadership team.

Lisa is responsible for driving all initiatives to ensure clients have an ex-ceptional service experience. She works diligently with the entire team to build a sustainable infrastructure and solid foundation to meet the sophisticated needs of the Group’s dynamic clientele.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2015, Lisa worked at Merrill Lynch. She began her professional career in financial services as a Financial Advi-sor at an independent brokerage firm for 17 years. She is proud to bring her previous investment experience and knowledge of operations to deliver a distinct level of service and personal attention to her clients.

Lisa shares in the team’s passion for taking an active leadership role in her local community. She is an active member of Operation Splash, a volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to

keeping coastal waterways pollution-free and allowing marine life to thrive in the bays.

A lifelong Long Islander, Lisa earned her B.F.A. in Journalism from CW Post Long Island University. She and her husband, Tom, currently reside in Freeport, NY. In her free time, she enjoys playing golf.
