THE SCHOOL BOARD 2007/2008 Current Trustees NIVINE CAPTAN-AMR (Board Chair) previously served as an elected Community Representative 2005-2007 and now is a Board appointee for the two- year term 2007-2009. For eight years, Ms. Captan-Amr has served on numerous CAC committees. She formed the Multicultural Committee in 2000. Most recently, she was the REACH liaison to the PTO and a MS Community Advisory Team (CAT) representative. She and her husband Yehia have three children, two in High School and one CAC alumnus class of 2004. CINDY CLARKE (Secretary) was re-elected to the Board as an elected Community Representative for the two-year term 2007-2009. Ms. Clarke is a former teacher who has previously served on school boards in Harare, Zimbabwe, Abidjan, Cote d'lvoire and Dakar, Senegal. She and her husband Tom Walter have three children, two in High School and one CAC alumnus class of 2006. MARK TURNER (Treasurer) joined the Board in June 2007 as the Naval Medical Research Unit No. 3 (NAMRU-3) representative. Dr. Turner serves as the Executive Officer of NAMRU-3 and is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine. He and his wife, Dr. Sybil Tasker, have two children attending CAC Middle School BOB GIVICH was re-elected to the Board by the CAC professional and support staff for the two-year term 2007-2009. A member of the CAC faculty since 1978, Bob earned a Masters in Education from Stanford University and taught in California for five years before making Cairo his home. CHRIS NEHRING joined the Board in July 2005 as the BP representative. Mr. Nehring is the drilling manager for GUPCO operations. He has had a varied international career within BP, with strong background in business development and project management. He and his wife Helen have two daughters attending CAC, one in Middle School and the other in High School. DOLORES BROWN joined the Board in August 2007 as the U.S. Embassy's representative. Counselor for Management at the Embassy, she has been in the U.S. Foreign Service since 1985 and has served as Deputy Director of the Operations Center, the Secretary of State’s 24/7 duty office, and as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Estonia. Past postings have included Belgium and South Africa in various management and consular capacities. Previous to the Foreign Service, Mrs. Brown was Associate Director of Admissions at Barnard College of Columbia University, where she was responsible for foreign and transfer student admissions. Mrs. Brown has two sons, Richard, who attends university, and Will who is an eighth grade student at CAC.

MAHA ELSHINNAWY joined the Board in June 2007 as the AUC representative. Dr. ElShinnawy is a Professor of Management in the School of Business, Economics, and Communication at the American University in Cairo. She and her husband Ahmed have three children attending CAC, two in Elementary School and one in High School.

MELANIE NELSON was elected to the Board as a Community Representative for the two-year term 2007-2009. She and her husband, Rick Nelson, a petrophysicist with BP, have been overseas for seven years: three years in London and four years in Cairo. Melanie, a native Texan, has been a full-time community activist and volunteer for over twenty years. Melanie and her Husband Rick have three children: their youngest daughter attends High School at CAC, their son, a CAC graduate of the Class of 2006, attends Texas Tech University, and their oldest daughter is finishing her degree at the University of Houston.

PATRICK BRENNAN joined the Board in June 2007 as the American Business Representative. Mr. Brennan is a Commercial Manager for Apache Egypt Companies since 1997. He and his wife Jane have three CAC alumni: Sarah, class of 2000, Katherine, class of 2004 and Patrick, class of 2006.

YOUSSEF BOUTROS-GHALI was appointed to the Board for a two-year term 2007-2009. Dr. Boutros-Ghali is at present the Minister of Finance. He held a number of ministerial posts since 1993 as well as a number of advisory and teaching positions. He and his wife Michele have three boys attending CAC, two in Elementary School and one High School.

Departing Trustees

BARBARA JONES was elected to the Board as a Community Representative for 2006-2008. She and her family are in Cairo in connection with her husband's position at the U.S. Embassy. Barbara grew up in Port Huron, Michigan and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. A former Foreign Service officer, she has served overseas with her husband, Stuart Jones, in Latin America and Turkey. She and her husband Stuart Jones have three children attending CAC, one in Elementary, one in Middle, and one in the High School.

PAUL DONOHUE was elected to the Board as a Community Representative for the two-year term 2006-2008. Mr. Donohue is the Project Director of Design & Construction Operations for the Egypt, West Bank and North Africa Region of Contrack International Inc. Originally came to Egypt, over six years ago, to manage commercial projects for Bechtel including the Four Seasons Hotel – Nile Plaza and the Citystars Complex. His spouse, Marilou Corliss, is an active CAC & community volunteer. He and his wife Marilou Corliss have three children attending CAC, one in Middle School and two in High School.
