Mission: reduce emissionsTo fght climate change, SCA has established an ambitious carbon dioxide target.One example o our e orts to reduce carbon emissions is the investment we madeat the strand pulp mill in a new lime kiln, which was inaugurated in November

011. The lime kiln is the frst in the world to substitute uel oil or wood powder,and the uel pellets that strand uses to grind to wood powder are made romsawdust rom SCAs sawmills. By switching to the new lime kiln, strand willreduce its carbon ootprint by 80% and its costs by SEK 50m annually.

Less than 1% o all water is accessible or human useAccessible water resources are distributed extremely unevenly betweenregions. That's why SCA ocuses on reducing water usage in such water-stressed regions as Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Italy and Australia. SCAsgreenfeld tissue site in Mexico is an excellent example o how we ensurethat we avoid using more water than is absolutely necessary, and we havealso installed a frst-rate water treatment plant at the site.

We care or owlsBiodiversity is a measure o the health o ecosystems. Preserving the biodiversity o our orests is a prioritised sustainability target or SCA. One example is the creationo diversity areas where at least hal the designated space consists o SCA landset aside or nature conservation purposes or managed to enhance the prospects

or biodiversity. Dead wood o pine trees, which provides a habitat or insects andwood ungi, is an example o a scarce commodity. Thats why we leave more thanone tree in ten rom harvesting to die o natural causes. Old pine trees may withtime become suitable nesting trees or ural owls.

and respect or human rights. Our Code o Conduct assessments are one way o ensuring compliance. In 011, assessments were conducted in Malaysia and Russia,both o which indicated alignment with SCAs Code o Conduct.

Human dignityFunctional and com ortable incontinence care contributes to dignity and qualityo li e. In 011, SCAs Innovation Centre in Shanghai developed TENA Belt, an in-continence care product ocusing on skin com ort. As the name suggests, it comes

with a separate belt that keeps the pad in place and simplifes the application orcaregivers. Because the belt is washable, it can be used several times. TENA Beltwill be launched in several countries in 01 .

The right to wash your handsPeople with reduced hand strength, due to disabilities or just age, o ten have di fcul-ties operating hand hygiene equipment. This group is also one o the most vulner-able to in ections caused by poor hand hygiene. When developing a new Tork oamsoap dispenser, this insight was given special consideration. Product testing wasconducted in collaboration with the Swedish Rheumatism Association (SRA), and

the innovation process resulted in an easy-to-use oam soap dispenser with low pushresistance. The dispenser has received the SRA accreditation Easy to use and iscompliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
