“Adopt-A-Baby” 1 Month Update

Thank you for praying for me. I am one month old now. I have a heart pumping my blood and a backbone. I am very, very tiny and I

appreciate your prayers!ONE MONTH DEVELOPING BABY – Your

spiritually adopted baby has been quite active over the past month. Already your baby is

10,000 times bigger than at conception. Your baby has developed the foundations of his

brain, spinal cord, and nervous system by the 20th day. His heart began to beat on the 21st day. His heart is pumping blood through its own circulatory system and the blood type

can be different from his mother. Your baby is most vulnerable during the next

month to being aborted. Pray that the Lord of Life might move the heart of his mother

to give him the most precious gift of all – the

gift of life!

Stewardship Moments…Pentecost Sunday: May 14th & 15th:

In today’s first reading we encounter the Holy Spirit who at Pentecost came rushing in over Jesus’ followers like a powerful wind. It must have been a frightening experience for them. But their great acts of prophetic witness began when the Spirit drew them out of their “comfort zones.” Jesus said the Holy Spirit, like the wind, blows where it wills; into the lives of good stewards, empowering them to perform wondrous acts of healing, reconciliation and evangelization; encouraging them to proclaim the Gospel with boldness and confidence. All of that is a little beyond the comfort zone where most of us live our lives. This week, reflect on how the Holy Spirit may be calling you out of your personal comfort zone.

PLEASE REMEMBER THE SICK IN YOUR PRAYERS: Fr. Jonathan Janise- Pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help

Church, Fr. Gene Tremie, Deacon Ray Gibson, Jr., Dean Prudhomme, Brandon Fuselier, Leslie Ritter, and

Kary Fontenot

Weekly Reflection from Pope Francis:

“Human beings, whenever they judge, look no farther than the surface, whereas the Father looks into the very depths of the soul. ... To refrain from judgment and condemnation

means, in a positive sense, to know how to accept the good in every person and to spare him any suffering that

might be caused by our partial judgment and our

presumption to know everything about him.

But this is still not sufficient to express mercy. Jesus

asks us also to forgive and to give. To be instruments

of mercy because it was we who

first received mercy from

God.”

Ministry for the Dying

We are members of the Secular Order of Disclaimed Carmelites. As sons & daughters of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, it is the duty of all Secular Carmelites to pray for the salvation of souls. Because “the most important hour of life is the hour of death,” the Secular Carmelites from Ville Platte have chosen as our apostolate to pray the souls of the dying. After calling a priest, if you would like for us to pray for someone who is near death, please call: Karen at (337) 336-1775. ALL CALLS ARE CONFIDENTIAL.

Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration with Benediction

On Holy Thursday, the night that Our Lord gave us His Body and Blood, he asked his disciples to spend one hour with him in prayer. Sacred Heart of Jesus Church has a Eucharistic Holy Hour with Exposition and Solemn Benediction on the third Thursday of each month.

The next Holy Hour falls on Thursday, May 19th from 5:30-6:30pm. All are invited to attend!
