Tuck Your Newborn IntoA Nursery Fit For A Royal(NAPSA)—Royal or not, many
of us have our own princesses orprinces to plan for—and creatinga nursery is a good place to start. What’s the best way to feather
the perfect nest for your littlestangel? We asked interior designerZoya Bograd, ASID, to share herthoughts, since she has designedmany of them.
Color: What with reports thatbabies see colors differently thanwe do—some stimulate the brain, others don’t, etc.—her view is cre-ate a room that you, the parent, like and look good in, too, and avoidselecting strong primary colors.
Window Dressings: As forwindow treatments, she suggestslooking for styles that allow you tomanage the amount of light youwant in the room at differenttimes of the day and night. Forexample, she often uses fromHunter Douglas Vignette ModernRoman Shades with the top-downbottom-up design option whendecorating a nursery. Vignetteshades also have no exposed rearcords for enhanced child safety.
Furniture: Bograd believes thekey to a practical and good-lookingnursery is the placement of the fur-niture. She believes the crib, forexample, should never be close to awindow because of dust and drafts.Furthermore, the windows them-selves pose a potential danger oncean infant is able to stand in thecrib. And, with safety in mind, it’ssmart for window dressings to havecordless operation. For more information, visit
www.hunterdouglas.com.
Look for window treatments thatallow you to manage the amountof light you want in the room atdifferent times and that eliminatecords or substantially reduceaccess to them.

(NAPSA)—You can help your-self to good feelings and others towhat they need and deserve bygiving some time to the nation’slargest volunteer-run tax prepara-tion and assistance service.Almost four out of five people
who turn to this AARP FoundationTax-Aide program are 60 or older. For many of them, a tax refundcould mean they won’t have tochoose between paying for gro-ceries and keeping the lights on.
You don’t have to be a tax pro-fessional. Volunteers get freetraining on the latest tax prepara-tion forms and software. The pro-gram also needs coordinators, greeters, administrative volun-teers, leaders, and people who arebilingual and can assist withtranslation. For more information, visit

(NAPSA)—Each decade has itsown style of desserts. Yet whetherit’s Lemon Chess Pie from the1820s, Black and White Cookiesfirst baked up in the Roaring1920s or Frozen Grasshopper Piefrom the 1950s, some dessertshave stood the test of time. Nowyou can enjoy them with a mod-ern influence thanks toCanolaInfo’s “Decades of Deca-dence” recipe collection by EllieKrieger, M.S., R.D., host of theCooking Channel’s “HealthyAppetite.”Krieger updates six iconic
desserts with heart-healthy ingre-dients such as canola oil, low-fatyogurt and whole-grain flour tohelp keep calories in check andsaturated fat content low. Eachdecadent dessert has less than400 calories per serving and ismade with canola oil, which hasthe least saturated fat and mostomega-3 fat of all common culi-nary oils.“Simple ingredient swaps like
canola oil for butter and Greekyogurt for cream lighten updesserts without taking awayfrom their indulgent taste,” saysKrieger. “Everyone should be ableto enjoy a dessert once in a whileand these recipes make it easy todo so. Recipes from different erashelp us remember and celebratethose times. Such culinary tradi-tions are a huge part of the joy ofcooking and baking.”The classic cake here was
made famous by women’s maga-zines after canned pineapplebecame available in slices. Therecipe here gets a fresh, healthyupdate with canola oil keeping itmoist, light and low in saturatedfat; the addition of tender, whole-
grain pastry flour; and a lovelykick of crystallized ginger to min-gle with the pineapple in thecaramelized topping.

SNOWREMOVAL
(NAPSA)—As the AffordableCare Act is set to be fully imple-mented, there is still much confu-sion about how the law will affectyou and your family. Here are 10things to know about the healthcare law’s protections and bene-fits, courtesy of AARP:
1.Health insurance companiescan no longer drop your healthcoverage if you become sick ordisabled.
2. Insurance companies cannotdiscriminate against you becauseof your health conditions or gen-der. That means health insurancecompanies can no longer chargeyou more simply because of yourhealth status or gender.
3. Insurers cannot deny healthinsurance to anyone under age 19because of a pre-existing condi-tion, such as cancer, diabetes orheart disease. In 2014, Americansof all ages will be afforded thisprotection.
4.The health care law stopsinsurance companies from limit-ing lifetime coverage for essentialhealth benefits. In 2014, thisapplies to yearly limits, too.
5.Preventing illness with theright immunizations and screen-ings will be simpler and lessexpensive. Most insurance plans, including Medicare, now mustcover preventive benefits such asimmunizations and screenings fordiabetes and certain cancers. Besure to check with your insuranceplan about what preventive ser-vices are covered with no out-of-pocket cost to you.
6. If you are uninsured, findingaffordable health coverage is noweasier, as it can be purchased viayour state’s Health Insurance Mar-ketplaces. It’s like an online shop-ping mall. You’ll be able to comparethe benefits and costs of healthplans side by side and pick theplan that works best for you andyour family. For more informationon your Health Insurance Market-place opening October 2013, visitwww.HealthLawAnswers.org.
7.Your children can stay onyour family policy up to age 26,even if they don’t live with you orare married.
8.You can sleep well knowing
that your guaranteed Medicarebenefits are safe. The AffordableCare Act strengthens Medicare, and your guaranteed Medicarebenefits are protected, includingdoctor and hospital visits andrehabilitation services. If youhave Medicare, there aren’t anyother steps you need to take withregard to the new health law.
9.The “doughnut hole” is goingaway and the improved coveragemeans your out-of-pocket costs forprescription drugs will be lower ifyou have Medicare Part D. If youhave high drug costs and reachthe doughnut hole this year, youwill get a 52.5 percent discount onbrand-name prescription drugsand a 21 percent discount ongeneric prescription drugs. Visitthe Doughnut Hole Calculator atwww.aarp.org/doughnuthole tolearn more about when you mightreach the doughnut hole andpotential medication options thatmay reduce your costs or help youavoid the coverage gap entirely.
10. There’s help to pay forinsurance coverage. If your jobdoes not offer health coverage andyou have a limited income, youmay be able to get financial helpto pay for insurance coverage pur-chased through the Health Insur-ance Marketplace. If you are a small-business
owner, you will have more insur-ance choices and opportunities toqualify for tax credits. To learn more about how the law
affects you and your loved ones, visit www.HealthLawAnswers.orgin English, www.MiLeydeSalud.orgin Spanish or call 1-888-702-9345for more information.
