Homecoming 2013 Maureen Brown '80, Alumnae Relations Coordinator Last October, over 200 alumnae attended one or more of the four Homecoming events. Whether it was playing a basketball game with former Saints coaches, reconnecting at the Reunion Dinner with fellow alumnae, current and former faculty, attending mass or flipping through the pages of a yearbook, all enjoyed themselves. Each year Homecoming provides the Alumnae Association the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for various causes. The $2,000 raised during Homecoming 2013 were directed to the bursaries & scholarships sponsored by the Alumnae Association. Thank you to this year's sponsors who helped to make the Homecoming Reunion Dinner such a success: Sofia Muzzo '90 for her flower arrangements, Lillian Wrzesinski ' 73 Léonard for raffle items, the Parents' Guild for the dinner wine, the City House Foundation for revenue from the sale of Spirit Wear, and Sandra Buonamici of Patisserie San Marco. Lastly,a special thank you to Jessica Abbey ' 00, Owner & Head Chef of Abby Catering, who provided a lovely buffet and graciously donated a portion of the meals.

Career Mentorship Morning Antoinette Raco, Guidance Counselor

On the morning of November 18th, our Secondary V students had the unique opportunity of participating in our very own Speed-Mentoring event. Taking place in the Reception Room at Sacred Heart, students mingled and had the chance to chat with professionals spanning over a dozen careers. Unique careers in event planning and cake designing were represented, alongside the ever-popular fields of medicine, journalism, law, business and engineering. Special thanks go out to our alumnae who always participate in such great numbers for these events. All participants showed great passion for their careers, with the hope of sparking some interest in one of the many industries represented. We hope to make this a yearly event, so please feel free to contact the School or Alumnae Office if you would like more information or would like to represent your career in our next session.

For more photos of this event, visit the Photo Gallery on our Web site.

Power Corporation of Canada Speaker Series Isabel Brinck, Communications Coordinator This fall, three women leaders in their fields came to speak to the student body at an event that was also open to the public. Associate Professor at McGill and Board member Antonia Maioni '79 got the ball rolling, and was followed by Olympic gold medalist, freestyle skier Jennifer Heil. Rounding out the series, Angela Onesi '85, partner at the law firm of Fasken Martineau, really impressed upon the girls the value of a Sacred Heart education when it comes to rising above the challenges that society still places in front of women today.

Phone Campaign: Alumnae Dial for Dollars The latest Annual Campaign included a phone drive that reached out to alumnae, past and current parents, and former and present faculty. The honorary chair was Janet Gray-Donald '51 Macklem. Her support proved invaluable. The results have been -and continue to be- outstanding. The goal was long ago reached and surpassed. We have received over $20,000 in donations and pledges, with almost half of it coming from alumnae. The majority of that will fund scholarships and bursaries. Thank you! This was accomplished in no small part thanks to the Sacred Heart alumnae who volunteered their time to make calls: Julie-Ann Barna '82, Isabel Brinck '92, Maureen Brown '80, Alessia Di Giorgio '09, Carmen Di Ioia '82, Kelly Guy '09, Patricia Laplante '80, Lisa MacDonald '77, Anna Romano '83, Elizabeth Shamie '82, Maria Valente-Fernandes '99, Lauren Vaupshas '07, Natasha Vitale '10.
