introduction to the royal warrantThe Royal Warrant is a recognition of personal service of a high order, and today there are over 850 Royal Warrant holders entitled to use the title and Royal Arms.
Each Warrant is granted to a named individual, who must be an executive director or partner of the organisation concerned, and who is then responsible for ensuring that the Warrant is correctly used.
The Royal Warrant Holders Association was incorporated in 1907 to promote and safeguard the interests of its members.

digital file formats
There are three Grantors, and four royal crests, as shown on the previous page. Digital files for these are supplied in .eps –encapuslated postscript (full colour crests only) and .tif – tagged image format – formats.
There are two crest sizes available – for use above 20mm, and for use below 20mm but above 10mm. A crest must never be used smaller than 10mm. Please ensure you use the correct file for your purposes as the two sizes are subtly different.
Each crest size is available in three versions – full colour, monochrome open, monochrome filled.
Files are available on CD or via download. Please contact the Royal Warrant Holders Association office.

legend typefaceGrantees may use a typeface (font) of their choice, provided this is legible, and can be in either uppercase or upper and lowercase.
The Legend colour must either match the mono colour of the Royal Arms, or for full colour use may be in any appropriate colour.
The Legend must appear close to the Royal Arms, and may be used either underneath or to one side as shown in the examples:
using the legend overseasThe legend should generally be in English, but it may be translated into another language if the laws of the country concerned require it. Some countries, eg Canada and China, require that the legend be printed both in English and the local language.
In all instances it is the Grantee’s responsibility to ensure that the translation is accurate.
applications: stationeryThis section also applies to:
– organisation’s own credit cards
– invitations
– invoices
The Royal Arms may appear only once on each item of stationery.
No name other than that of the Warrant Holder may appear, but a group name and/or logo may be included provided it is positioned away from and clearly inferior to, the Royal Arms and the name of the Warrant Holding organisation.
On letterhead the Royal Arms must always appear at the top. If the full address of the firm appears at the top of the letterhead the 5th line of the legend (location) may be omitted
If the full address appears at the bottom of the letterhead the five line legend must appear in full under the Royal Arms. The Royal Arms may not be used on any joint promotion with another organisation.
For companies with more than one warrant, the order for the Royal Arms should be as follows:
HM The Queen HRH The Duke of Edinburgh HRH The Prince of Wales
The Royal Arms take precedence over the Queen’s Award for Export, Environment and Technology logos.
The Royal Arms may not be used on Christmas or other greetings cards.
