Welcome

Welcome to another bumper season at the Royal Hippodrome. We enter exciting times with the unveiling of our new façade which makes for a much more welcoming entrance to our wonderful Victorian Gem.

This is now the start of the 6th year of running this wonderful community venture and we have some great shows in store for you. For lovers of all things musical we have “Life could be a Dream”, “Forever Dusty”, “The Story of Bart” and “The West End Musicals in Concert”. For those who like their tribute style shows we have shows like “The Bohemians”, “Buddy Holly”, “Totally Tina” and “Walk Like a Man”. For those who like “names, names, names darling” – how do Jonathan Pie, Jimmy Osmond, Bobby Davro, Anita Harris, Liza Streisland, Nicholas Parsons, David Baddiel, Billy Pearce, Chrissy Rock and Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy from Boyzone and Westlife do for starters?

This is of course on top of the great family entertainment for which the theatre is becoming well known – Easter panto “Alice in Wonderland” for example or “Guess How Much I love You” or David Walliams’ The Midnight Gang?

We truly do have something for everyone. So do come and visit Eastbourne’s most popular theatre (according to Tripadvisor) and say ‘hello’.

The Pasadena Roof Orchestra was formed 50 years ago and is still going strong. Their show includes famous tunes such as Puttin on the Ritz, Sweet Georgia Brown, The Lullaby of Broadway as well as hot numbers from the twenties such as Duke Ellington’s Black and Tan Fantasy, not forgetting the beautiful numbers that were sung by Al Bowlly, and arranged to perfection by Ray Noble.

Laced with a liberal dose of British humour in its presentation; it is an evening of pure joy for those who love Swing, 20’s and 30’s music.

The Reunion Group are extremely proud and excited to present a brand new authentic tribute production for 2018.

Few vocalists can attempt to emulate iconic voice of Karen Carpenter, but International West End vocalist Vikki Holland-Bowyer sounds uncannily similar to the 70s superstar. She undertakes the character of Karen superbly, paying meticulous attention to her mannerisms. Richard Carpenter is played by musical arranger vocalist Greg Stevenson.

Carpenters Gold supremely captures how they were ‘live in concert’ and is the most accurate Carpenters tribute production on the stage today. Listen to greatest hits, such as Goodbye to Love, Solitaire, We’ve Only Just Begun, Top of the World, Yesterday Once More, Superstar, plus many more.

Back by popular demand following 2 critically-acclaimed West End runs and sold out residency at the Menier Chocolate Factory, My Family: Not the Sitcom is a massively

disrespectful celebration of the lives of David Baddiel’s late mother, Sarah, and dementia-ridden father, Colin. It’s a show about memory, ageing, infidelity, dysfunctional relatives, moral policing on social media, and gay cats. Come and be offended on David’s behalf..

Age recommendation: 16+ due to explicit language.

We no longer issue free tickets to carers unfortunately. Carers can get 50% off the top priced ticket for shows on production of an East Sussex County Council Carer’s card.
