It’s time for us to recognize that the real challenge we face isn’t just bringing new members into Rotary. It’s turning all members into true Rotarians. It’s helping mem- bers get engaged in Rotary helping them realize the po- tential they have, and how their Rotary service can change lives. We need to make sure that every mem- ber is active and contributing, and making a real difference because when you’re doing meaningful work in Rotary, Rotary is meaningful to you. In 2013-14, let’s turn all of our potential into reality. It’s up to us. We can do it by en- gaging in Rotary service, by getting involved, by staying inspired, and by remember- ing every day the gift we have in Rotary. Gift of Life Press Conference

on 1st July 2013

Penang Adventist Hospital

The Rotary Club of Penang and Penang Adventist Hospital col-

laborated in a project called Gift of Life (GOL). During the press

conference, the Rotary Club of Penang announced that The

Gift of Life has a fund of more than RM500,000/- that is yet to

be utilized and it is dedicated solely to helping Malaysian chil-

dren with heart ailments who come from poor families. The

amount was raised throughout the years through the

“WISHING WELL” Project placed in participating outlets

throughout Penang. Last year over RM90,000/- was collected

from 41 outlets, with the most recent one being placed on

board the cruise ship, Super Star Libra. The club has urged

those interested to approach the hospital for further assis-

tance.

The Penang Adventist Hospital became part of this initiative in 2001 to not only jointly raise funds but also to provide medical treatment for the affected children. Since its in-ception, the GOL programme has benefitted 100 children under the age of 18 not only from Malaysia but also from developing Southeast Asian countries like Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia.
