Military generals like Julius Caesar continued to gain land, taking over modern day Spain and France.

When Caesar returned to Rome he named himself Emperor of Rome.

were executed by the Roman government because they refused to worship the Emperor as a god (Colosseum)

Despite attempts to eliminate Christianity the religion continued to spread..

In the late 300s AD the Barbarians started to invade The Roman Empire from the north and eventually Rome fell.

The eastern part was called the Byzantine Empire which survived for thousands of years after the fall of Rome
