St. Ann, Lenox, MA
and
St. Patrick, West Stockbridge, MA
St. Ann Mission Statement: St. Ann Church is a community of faith within the Roman Catholic tradition. Through celebra-
tion of Eucharist and participation in the Sacraments we seek to live our lives as a welcoming family that strives to make
known the living presence of Jesus Christ in the ministry of our everyday lives. Empowered through the word of God we rec-
ognize the call to serve as the defining mark of our community. Personal involvement through participation in one or more of
the ministries to serve the needs of our parish family and local community is invited and encouraged. The Family Center is an
extension of St. Ann Church as a place of welcome and renewal where we strengthen the bonds of community and work to-
gether for the building of the Kingdom of God.
St. Patrick Mission Statement: The mission of St. Patrick Church is to respond faithfully to God’s call as a Roman Catholic
Community. The celebration of Eucharist and the Sacraments are central to our parish life. We seek to care for one another
and to reach out to those members of our community who are in need.

Our Religious Education Department is in need of a

you can help, please call the parish office at 637-0157
or Joan Davis, our DRE, at 841-5021, or see Fr. C.J.
Dear parishioners, as you may have read in the Berkshire
Eagle and will soon read in The Catholic Mirror, I have
recently accepted a new diocesan appointment as Co-
Vicar. In every diocese priests often turn to their Vicar for
Clergy at various times in their ministry. The Vicar for
Clergy is a priest who deals with priest assignments as
well as assessing the needs of parishes versus the gifts of
the priests. The primary responsibility is similar to a Hu-
man Resource person in a company.
Recently, our Bishop asked the priests of our diocese to
nominate their choice for two men to serve as co-vicars,
and I was asked to accept the position along with Fr. Bob
Gentile of Holyoke. This is a part time diocesan position
allowing me to continue in my ministry as your parish
priest. This responsibility may pull me away from the par-
ishes from time to time, but I will remain the pastor here
in Lenox, Lenox Dale and West Stockbridge. This will be
a five year assignment and the Bishop has promised me
my responsibilities will be completed after five years.
Please keep me in your prayers as I accept these new re-
sponsibilities. I would be one of two priests who look out
for and after other priests. I am humbled by their confi-
dence in me!
-Fr. C.J.

PRAYER LINE ~ Did you know that the parishes of St.
Ann and St. Vincent de Paul have a prayer line? This prayer
line is for the benefit of the sick, the homebound, and any-
one in need of prayer. How the prayer line works: the first
person on the prayer line (Maureen at 637-0704 or Virginia
at 499-0323) receives your call and notes the prayer re-
quest; she then relays the intention to the next person, etc.
Everyone on the prayer line then includes your intention in
their daily prayers. All requests are on a first name basis
and are confidential.
WELCOME! WHO ARE YOU?
We, the parishioners and clergy of St. Ann’s welcome
you to our historic church.
If you are a visitor, we’d love to know where you are
from. Feel free to sign our guest book at the main doors of
the church, and if you’d like, share a comment or two
about our church and parish grounds. Again, Welcome!
Engaged Couples - There is one Pre-Cana class left for
this year. If you are planning to be married within the
next 6-12 months and have not yet attended the required

To register for this class, please pick up a form at St.
Ann’s or call St. Agnes at 413-684-0125.

For over 65 years, the St. Patrick Rosary-Altar Sodality
faithfully met and ministered here in our parish. At the
end of 2014, due to the decline of members, they decided
it was time to retire the Sodality. Recently a plaque was
commissioned and now hangs to the left of the Sacred
Heart statue.
It reads:
In honor of
St. Patrick’s Rosary-Altar Sodality
who faithfully served our
Parish Community in many ways.
1947-2014.
Established by Rev. William T. Lee.
The parish again thanks the members and we it is our hope
to carry on the good work in the years to come. -Fr. C.J.

Short Excerpts
Taken from Pope Francis’ Addresses And Homilies
GOD’S LOVE: STRONGER THAN DEATH
We, too, like the women who were Jesus’ disciples, who
went to the tomb and found it empty, may wonder what
this event means (cf. Luke 24:4). What does it mean that
Jesus is Risen? It means that the love of God is stronger
than evil and death itself; it means that the love of God can
transform our lives and let those desert places in our hearts
bloom. The love of God can do this!

Speaks to Our Hearts, Words of Challenge and Hope” by
the Word Among Us.

DIAPER DROP OFF - St. Ann's Parish Council has
approved a request from Pregnancy Support Services of
Berkshire County, Inc. to initiate an ongoing contribution
of diapers much like the food pantry model.
In 2014 Pregnancy Support Services, a totally volunteer
crisis pregnancy counseling agency, filled 393 emergency
requests for diapers. PSS is asking parishes in Central and
South County to assist with this heavy demand.
Much like the food donations, when shopping for diapers,
take a few to Mass and drop them in the cradle that is
located at the front entrance of the Church. Any brand in
any amount and all sizes, especially 3-6. Given the price of
diapers, sincere thanks to those who have been responding
to this request.

ST. ANN CHURCH, LENOX — ST. PATRICK CHURCH, WEST STOCKBRIDGE
Kids Corner
To the People of St. Ann, St. Vincent de Paul and St.
Patrick parishes — Another “Thank You” (in case I
missed anyone!) for the wonderful celebration of my 55th
anniversary as a priest and the celebration of my 80th birth-
day. It was truly “awesome.” The Liturgy was beautiful, the
Lectors were great, the Pastor and Deacons were beyond
my wildest dreams. The choirs were fantastic (as usual).
“The Impossible Dream” tied it all together for my moist
Irish Eyes! The reception and greeting by the people was
most impressive. Thank you for one of the most memorable
days in my Priesthood. - Fr. Brunton
Note of Interest: On July 16th,
1911, the corner stone of the new
St. Ann Church, was blessed.
Happy Anniversary St. Ann!

Noah and
the Ark
Soon there were many people on the earth. They had forgotten all about God. They were very bad. All the people were bad except for
Noah. Noah pleased God. Noah tried to live his life in God's way. Noah taught his children to live according to God. He taught them not
to lie. He taught them not to cheat. He taught them not to steal.
One day God said to Noah, "A huge flood is coming. You must build a big boat, an ark, then
bring two of every animal to the ark. Your family and the animals will be safe from the flood,"
God told Noah how big to make the ark and then Noah and his three sons began working on the
ark.
Noah built it exactly as God told him. It took many years to build the ark. It was finally fin-
ished. Noah put a ramp up to the opened doors. He could see that the animals were coming from
all over to get on the ark. The elephants stomped up the ramp. The birds flew in the opened
doors. The cats quietly leapt. Then the rains came. Noah and his wife, their three children and
their wives, got on the ark. They were getting ready for the flood. After the last of the animals
had gotten on the ark, God closed the doors and they were safe and warm and dry from the
flood. It rained for forty days and forty nights. The entire earth was flooded. Noah and his family were safe in the ark.
Then after the forty days, it stopped raining. Water covered the earth for 150 days. God didn't forget about Noah. He sent a warm wind to
blow and the water began disappearing. The ark settled on top of the mountains of Ararat. Three months later, other mountain tops ap-
peared as the water continued going down. Forty days later, Noah sent a dove to find dry land. The bird came back. There was no dry
ground yet. A week later, he sent the dove again. This time the dove returned with an olive branch. Noah knew there was some dry land
out there. Another week went by and he released another dove. This time the dove didn't return.
Noah knew it wouldn't be long, now. Twenty-nine days later, Noah opened the door and the water was gone. Eight weeks later the earth
was dry. God told Noah to let the animals go and wander over the earth. When Noah came out of the ark, one of the first things he did
was build an altar on the mountain side. He gave an offering to God. When Noah looked up he saw a beautiful sight. God had placed a
rainbow of beautiful colors in the sky.
"I will never again send flood waters to cover the earth," God promised. "Whenever you look up and see a rainbow in the sky it will re-
mind you of my promise."
