All information could be stored digitally

Information could be transmitted and retrieved instantly

Online multimedia encyclopaedias made interactive pages available to readers

User could reuse the space on Hard Drive later because of digital storage

Bulletin boards and newsgroups contributed a lot to the popularity of early internet service

Computer software used in movies like Jurassic Park, Toy story etc.

BUSINESS ON THE INTERNETCompanies used e-communications over the internet

to stay in touch with customers

Low cost hardware and software allowed small businesses to compete with MNCs

Connected PCs reduced overheads

At Microsoft, first e-mail system was installed in 1980s

First electronic spreadsheet appeared in 1978

Intranet web page replaced reports, manuals, forms etc.

Services like low cost videoconferencing was provided by many companies, like CU-SeeME

EDUCATION- THE BEST INVESTMENT

Computer would augment learning outside the classroom.

PCs would give individuals great latitude to exploit their styles of learning and areas of

interestWorkers would be able to keep up to date on

techniques in their fields

Word processors could perform multilingual spelling and grammar checks to remove errors
