Both men are building a house

No differences are given in the type of house

No differences are given in the builders abilities Their houses are built in the same area

The same natural forces strike both houses

The builders are symbolic of two types of people

Both people hear the exact same words from the exact sameJesus

What the house is resting on The foundation is unseen. From the sight, the houses are identical.

A house can be anchored to a rock. There is no way to attach a

house to sand. When the weather is good, both houses stand solid. When

conditions turn, the foundation becomes known.

Jesus words are symbolic of two types of people.

One man heard the words and built his life as Jesus said. Hisfoundation would endure the test of time.

The other man heard the words and built his life as he wanted. Hisfoundation failed the test of time.

Would anyone really neglect to build on a solidfoundation?

Why might someone neglect their foundation? Maybe the house is built for appearance sake

Perhaps the desire is to get a house up quickly

It is too much work to build a good foundation

To build on rock, one must dig to find bedrock

Building on sand takes no work to build on the surface

Maybe the cost is too high

Maybe it is for appearance sake We go to the places Christians go, we do the thing Christians do, we say the thing

Christians say, we read the things Christians read

But we fail to really be a follower of Christ, to follow Gods Word

Maybe it is to get a house up quickly We desire God to be a quick fix without truly being sold to the long term commitment of being

a disciple

Real faith sometimes require you to wait upon the Lord

It is too much work It requires we lay down control of our life and take up our cross and follow Him. Matthew 10:37-

39

The cost is too high The demands of a good foundation is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:19-22
