You Rock! These individuals’ You Rock cards were shared with Public Relations:

EZ Niles ~ IT“EZ has always been helpful and proactive but this time he saved me a lot of time and effort! I was unable to attend a supervisor’s meeting and he took the time to explain to me the updates and changes that are going to take place. He walked me through each process and as always was an excellent teacher. Thank you, EZ. You

are an excellent coworker!”

Crystal Barton ~ OB“Crystal came to the ED to assist us with starting a very difficult IV on a seizing infant. Thank you so much

for your care and professionalism!”

Waynita Cahoj ~ Volunteers“Just a note to let you know what a wonderful volunteer Waynita is! She showed us to the lab to have blood work done and then she found out my husband left his hat in Dr. Cochran’s office and appeared to us again with his hat in hand! Thanks Waynita and we hope OMC appreciates your going above-and-beyond for us.”

LaDonna Garrison ~ OPS“LaDonna is always helpful and always friendly. She does anything to help people out. I just want her to

know it doesn’t go unnoticed and she is very much appreciated!”

Service

OMC SwitchboardOMC now staffs only one switchboard operator for each shift. Since this change, I have had several complaints from staff of not being able to reach the operator as quickly as when we had two operators.

In order to help with customer service, we are asking staff to call other departments directly whenever possible. The online phone guide is available and can be added to each employee’s desktop by contacting the OMC HelpDesk at extension 6050. This will free up the switchboard to better serve our patients and visitors and also handle critical calls in a more timely manner.

Also, please have your family members call the direct dial number 417-257-6782 (press 1 and the extension) which will bypass the operator. Thank you, Retha Evans,Communications/Security Manager417-256-9111 ext. 7051

Phone MessagesCommunication from any OMC department should be handled in a positive manner. When contacting a patient for an appoint-ment, financial counseling, etc., please leave your first and last name, department, and the extension you can be reached.

The OMC Switchboard has been getting a large number of calls from patients trying to return a phone call. They do not know what extension they need, because a clear message was not left with the patient.

Please remember to leave clear instructions in your message so that the patient has the information to return your call easily.
