Fund after participant’s retirement and also reducing and in some instances eliminated survivor benefits. The adverse impact on our participants was caused by the creation of “a one size fits all” attempt to reduce benefits. As a result, there has been some unintended adverse effects. Our Fund Staff, Attorneys and Trustees have been working on Technical Corrections to this legislation. Our Trustees unanimously agreed at our February 2015 meeting to submit these changes to the General Assembly for their consideration in the upcoming Spring legislative session. The Fund has also provided copies of these proposals to Local 2 director of Political Action, Dan Fabrizio. These technical corrections propose to provide a level of benefit to survivors of firefighters and paramedics who die while active members of the department. We remain hopeful that some of these reductions in benefits were in fact “unintended” and that our legislators will provide essential support to our most vulnerable participants. Thank you. Anthony R. Martin Fund Secretary
