IN-LITE MISSION
DEVELOP AND SUPPLY LIGHT TO SUPPORT PEOPLE IN THE BUILD ENVIRONMENT
IN THE MOST PLEASANT AND SUSTAINABLE WAY.
SUPPORT, because light enables us to see, most of the information about our surroundings enters
our brain through our eyes. No light, no information. Good light, information will come to us more
easily.
PLEASANT, because light influences our senses and the way we feel. Our light must be pleasant.
SUSTAINABLE, because we are responsible for the future living climate of the next generations.
We take this into account in our designs, consultancy and solutions. LEED certified projects have
been realized in close cooperation with clientsb to ensure high levels of energy efficiency.

Green Goal
How to make a difference?
THE PRODUCTION OF
ENERGY EMITS GREEN
HOUSE GASES IN THE
ATMOSPHERE.
What is green house gas?
Climate change, or global
warming is the result of a
build up of greenhouse
gases (GHG), basically
carbon dioxide-CO2, in
the atmosphere. GHGs
serve to trap the suns
heat in the earth’s
atmosphere, forming the
‘greenhouse effect’ – a natural
phenomena that keeps the earth
warm. However, when the concentration of GHGs gets too large, and the earth’s equilibrium gets out of balance,
we experience a dangerous rise in temperatures, which can result in severe and extreme weather conditions. In
effect, earth’s blanket thickens and our atmosphere absorbs and holds more heat than it radiates back. This could
directly affect rainfall, flooding and droughts, agriculture, economies, health and biosecurity.
Taking Responsibility
Lighting consumes 19%* of all globally produced electricity. Unfortunately we can conclude that artificial lighting
is one of the major causes of global warming. IN-Lite is aware of this effect that lighting has on our planet. And we
feel fortunate to be able to take our responsibility and make a major difference. We do this by selecting the most
energy saving solutions for the projects that we design and supply, in this way IN-Lite has already proven that
sustainable designs does not mean a lack of light or atmosphere. It is just being passionate and careful in how to
utilize lighting.

LIGHTING CONSUMES 19% OF ALL GLOBALLY PRODUCED ELECTRICITY.
Case Study 01Project: Head Quarters Summertown interiors, Jebel Ali, Dubai
Client: Summertown Interiors
Result: LEED GOLD
Energy consumption for lighting: less than 7W/m2
Year of completion: 2009
This showroom has become a ‘best practice’ example of energy efficient and sustainable building design. IN-Lite
provided a design that supports people in the most pleasant and sustainable way, with a lighting power load less
than 7W per sq. m. The final result is a showroom building with Leed Gold status. In the meeting room, a special
table with integrated lighting has been installed with an equal-sized, stretched fabric ceiling directly above,
supported with LED accent lights. The lighting is dimmable, so it can be adjusted according to need. Moreover the
diffused light output of the stretched fabric ceiling allows for a shadow-less review of interior layout plans
displayed during client meetings. IN-Lite’s designers used visual tricks to achieve a pleasant atmosphere like
emphasizing vertical illumination, and creating daylight effects with artificial light, like the coves in the hallways.
For the office lighting, daylight dimmable and highly efficient fluorescent pendant lights were used.”
Lighting brands used: IN-Lite, Dark, Luceplan, Osram, Intra, EyeLEDs, XAL, Lighting Science Group, Ares.
The challenge for this project was to be as economic as possible with the power consumption for lighting but at the same time create a pleasant ambience where people will not complain about the lack of lighting.”
In-Lite also ensured that plenty of decorative eye-catcher luminaires were used in a way that would contribute meaningfully to the general lighting as well.
LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN
Case Study 02RETAIL LIGHTING
ZUHAIR MURAD
At the Zuhair Murad shop in Dubai Mall, IN-Lite balanced accent lighting with display lighting. For the display lighting,
they used high output LED strips to light up the dresses which also does not effect these exclusive
merchandises. Narrow beam spot lights were placed on the mannequins to dramatically contrast with the rest of the
store. Metal halide spots provided good color rendering and the sparkle on the crystals on the dresses.
Lighting brands used: IN-Lite, XAL
MAUZAN
This neatly designed intimate abaya shop in Dubai Mall shows that smaller spaces can also benefit from good lighting
design. The challenge was to let the abaya stand out, although more than 90 per cent of it is black.

SHOP LIGHTING
Case Study03 SIGNATURE FACADE LIGHTING - Six towers in City of Lights Abu Dhabi
The concept for the Façade lighting of these towers in City Of Lights, Abudhabi came from the studies of the
forms and finishes proposed by the architects and highlights two strong characteristics: Verticality and
Transparency.
The Verticality of the towers gives the idea of infinity, movement, continuity, of “no limit” reach for the sky, while
the Transparency as suggested by the use of glass and aluminum brings the idea of fluidity and permeability.
The concept of Verticality is achieved using vertical lines of lights in different lengths, suggesting the idea of
movement. These elements are present on the crowns of the five towers as well as on the entrance of the build-
ings, bringing the same concept to the human scale. Cold Cathode light for the crowns is integrated in the
building structure, behind the glass. The fluorescent light in the balconies boundary and entrance is hidden in
special cove constructions.

LIGHTING CONCEPT FOR GLASS FACADES
Case Study 04LIGHTING FOR THE GOVERNMENT - ABU DHABI TAWTEEN COUNCIL ( ADTC )
The government counsil’s role is to facilitate employment opportunities for Emiratis and it acts as a service provider
for the local population entering the working world. Emiratis are encouraged to spend time at the council to be
informed about job opportunities; hence the space had to be warm and inviting. There was the desire to create an
environment as smart as possible in order to encourage and attract people to the facility.
IN-Lite worked closely with the interior designers to match the headquarters’ up-to-date design. On entering the
ADTC, the first thing one notice is the impressive reception desk that extends over several meters backed by a
Mashribiya screen that seems to disappear into the sky above. This effect is achieved by the fluorescent cove lighting
hidden in the ceiling around the screen. The reception is boldly lit with channel-mounted, semi-recessed, Metal
Halide spotlights, which is a more energy and maintenance friendly solution compared to the more traditional
halogen spotlights. The minimalistic general lighting for the waiting area and circulation spaces consists of compact
fluorescent fully recessed ceiling luminaries from XAL. This trimless lighting follows the strong lines of the interior
without cluttering the ceiling. The interior layout makes full use of the daylight and views from the building by
placing the informal waiting areas and circulation spaces close to the windows. The overall result completely
matched the design intent and expectations of the client.
