THE EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE
THE SECRETARY’S MESSAGE
(See Secretary Joe on page 2 ) (See LOE on page 5)
This being my first
writing as your Exalted
Ruler I want to take
this opportunity to
acknowledge the fine
job done by our newest PER Rick
Smith and his officers. Under his
leadership he raised the bar and
pressed all under his guidance to
do first and foremost what is best
for the lodge and Elks organiza-
tion. It will be my goal to do no
less and hopefully raise the bar
just a bit higher. Rick never ex-
pected more of others he was
willing to give himself and be-
cause of this we as Elks and a
lodge are better for it.
On behalf of all Elks let me say -
Job Well Done!
Our lodge is celebrating its
100th Anniversary, I look for-
ward to leading our organization
into the next century. We have a
proven team of officers, many
who have been giving of their
time and self for years with little
fanfare. The ER’s motto this
year is “Standing Tall – Serving
Others”. An Elk never stands
taller than when He/She is reach-
ing out to Children.
Veterans and Community. Let us
all continue to be great Ambassa-
Mazatlan, Mexico:
As they say, this
kind of a deal only
comes around every
hundred years or so!
This is what you have been read-
ing about and seeing in the bulle-
tin for some time now, and it
won't diminish for some time.
We are starting our new Lodge
year and we are preparing for our
100th anniversary on the weekend
of October 12th. This will be a
large function at the Lodge with
many in attendance and we hope
you keep the date open on your
calendar.
The daily activity of running an .
Lodge is a daunting ordeal for
active officers and staff. We are
always attempting to make the
Lodge a fun place for you to
come with your friends. While
striving to make the Lodge a des-
tination for you we also under-
stand that some people may not
like everything that is going on.
Every once in a while there is
some conduct from Members that
is not seen in a good light; how-
ever most people are not anxious
to step up and make mention of
these things to staff or officers.
dors and continue to build upon
the respect gained over the past
100 years as a lodge other lodges
in Elkdom would do well to em-
ulate. With all that said, let’s
have fun! and celebrate our
100th year together. It only
comes our way but once.
Exalter Ruler,
Ron
The ladies would like
to wish everyone and
their families a Happy
Easter.
The Dictionary for Kids program
was a great success once again. I
would like to take this time to
thank all the workers, for if was
not for these fine ladies it would
not have been possible to have
fed the youngsters. Workers were
Jan, Lurea, Evelyn, Gloria, Erin.
Laurie, and Megan.
I thank the girls who hosted the
recent Taco night too.
As I have said before, if you have
kitchen talent of any kind, please
come forth and give a hand.. We
really need your help. Call the

If you have suggestions for mak-
ing our Lodge even better in our
second hundred years, please take
the time to air your feelings so
that they may be addressed. It is
not necessary to tell us your name
if you are uncomfortable doing so.
But we do want to hear from you.
As I have done for many years
now, it is time to remember those
that have passed on during this
past Lodge year. Seven Members
have left us this year. Mike Mey-
er from Bay Center died just a
couple of months ago and I can
remember a couple of entertaining
times with him in the Lodge alt-
hough he didn't come in all that
often. We also lost Larry Heath
and David Holmes who were well
known in our area. Walt Matysik
and I took the obligation on the
same night back in 1980 and I had
some interesting conversations
with him at the Lodge. Vern Ben-
nett was always a great person to
be around, and I will always re-
member him standing so straight
in his bright red Marine Corps
League jacket, and the night when
he received his diploma from
WVHS that was a few years late
because of his service to our
Country. Frank Camenzind, my
former father-in-law was a very
quiet but very good man with a
wry sense of humor. He will cer-
tainly be missed. Finally I come
to the person I knew the longest,
Ed Wrona. Easy Ed was a great
person and a big supporter of any-
thing that I did. He followed
sports with a passion and we
played hundreds of games of ping
