Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether or not we are living in the last days

before the second coming of Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramatic proof that

these are the endtimes. The proofs below defy coincidence.

Euphrates River to Be Dried Up In Revelation 16:12, the Bible predicts that the Euphrates Riverwill be dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the east to invade Israel. This will happen at the time of the battle ofArmageddon according to verse 16 of the same chapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle at which time Jesuswill return and fight on the side of the nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will establish His kingdom and usher in Hisone thousand-year reign of peace. On January 13, 1990, the Indianapolis Star carried the headline “Turkey Will Cut Off Flow ofEuphrates for One Month.” The article stated that a huge reservoir had been built by Turkey. While filling up the reservoir, theflow of the Euphrates would be stopped for one month and a concrete plug for a diversion channel built. These things have nowbeen done. With this newly built dam, Turkey has the ability to stop the Euphrates River at will. The conditions for fulfilling this1,900 year-old prophecy are now in place.

In Revelation 9:15-16, the Bible prophesies that an army of 200 million soldiers will launch a war which would kill “the third part of men.” Never in thehistory of the world until our present generation has there been a power on earth that could field 200 million soldiers. However,the late ruler of China, Mao Tse Tung boasted in his diary that he could field an army of 200 million. The CIA World Factbookreports that in the year 2001, it is estimated that China has 200,886,946 men of military age, and this number is growing by 10million per year.

In Revelation 13, the Bible prophesies that aworld dictator will soon rule over a world government. He will cause all people in the earth to receive a number without whichthey will be unable to buy or sell. We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in a most astonishing way. Nearly everyhuman being in the world now has been assigned a number. In America it is our Social Security number. In the past few years,we have seen this number extended to newborns. A child without a Social Security number cannot be declared as a dependenton an income tax return. We have seen the emergence of electronic money, shopping with credit cards, and many people urgingthe abolishment of cash. All of these things could not possibly have been fulfilled until this present time. Only after the inventionof the computer could such a worldwide numbering system be administered.

Revelation 13:7 andDaniel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. The term “New World Order” has become a prevalent phrase inthe world’s political culture. Mikhail Gorbachev made the term famous, and Pope John Paul II has referred to it repeatedly. Inthe September 12, 1990 issue of the Chicago Tribune, our former president George Bush said, “Iraq is the first test for the NewWorld Order.” He emphatically stated that the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein against the world. The United Nations’ troops arecontinually referred to as the multi-national forces. The decision has been made to establish an interdependent community ofnations that will rule the world under United Nations authority. The Bible says that this will lead us into a great world govern-ment. The formation of this government is at hand.

Is it coincidental that all of these major prophecies pertaining to the last times are being fulfilled simultaneously?

Warning from Catholic readerAs a practicing Catholic, I do not appreciate the office of the

Pope, who was and is selected by Our Lord Jesus Christ toguide the faithful, being attacked by erroneous and misguid-ed business and marketing strategies disguised as prophecy.

Has it ever occurred to you that Our Lord Jesus was tryingto warn us that, when it comes to Israel and Jerusalem, thatthe false messiah would most definitely come from the sameexact region as did Our Lord? Did you not read in Scripturewhen Jesus said another will come in his own name and himyou shall receive. And what evidence can you offer thatclaims he will be European?

Woe be unto the man who seeks to harm the Al-AqsaMosque which was built by a Jewish man and should alwaysbe a sign of the brotherhood of Ishmael and Isaac. Woe alsobe unto any politician or banker who would dare use theseblessed and sacred people in a godless plot to cause anotherwar. I am very concerned about any relationship people inour country have with the group known as the Temple MountFaithful, because the stability of their doctrine may causesome problems.

May the Lord greatly bless your ministry and I look for-ward to listening to your broadcast but I strongly adjure youto refrain from attacking or accusing an institution that youreally don't take the time to try and understand in its fullness.

REPLY I believe the Antichrist will probably emerge fromEurope because the Bible teaches that he will rise up amonga confederation of ten kings (Daniel 7:8, 24-27). Furthermore,it can be proven that these ten kings will constitute a revivedHoly Roman Empire (Daniel 2:44). Since the historic seat ofthe Holy Roman Empire has always been Europe, it appearsthat the Antichrist will rise up in Europe.

Judge Moore: the whole storyIn your article about Judge Roy Moore, you failed to men-

tion the fact that he bought and paid for the Ten Command-ments fixture that weighed three tons and had it put on prop-

erty that did not belong to him. In fact, he had it put there inthe wee hours of the morning when no one else was around.All they asked him to do was remove it because it had nobusiness being there without permission. That would be likeme putting something on your property without your permis-sion and you asking me to remove it before you call the copson me. I like your magazine but you need to tell the wholestory (if you know it). — Pete

REPLY What you are stating may well be correct. However,the court did not order its removal because Judge Moore paidfor it. It ordered the removal on the grounds of separation ofchurch and state. Consequently, the issues remain the same.

Practical questions from non-believerI am not a Christian, but more of an amalgamation of the

truths I perceive to be inherent in the religions I have studied.I do, however, enjoy listening to Christian talk radio for sev-eral reasons (which I won't waste your time listing here).

I am curious, though, to see, assuming of course that the'endtimes' do not happen, what this ministry will do whenJesus does not show up. Will you come out and admit youwere misinformed, or will you quietly disappear into thewoodwork with enough money to happily live out the rest ofyour lives? I'm sure you can appreciate the irony that yourafternoon show is contrasted with evening programs aboutinvesting to ensure future purchasing power.

It does seem strange that an incredibly gentle and forgivingbeing such as Jesus would come in and slaughter the paganworld, but I suppose that is not my place to interpret His char-acter. Of course, if you truly believe what you are preaching,I do hope the prophecy comes along accordingly. I also hopeyou have at least considered Revelation from the standpointof Roman history.

REPLY I don’t know how often you get to listen to “Politics& Religion,” but we sincerely believe the endtimes are alreadyhappening. The emerging world government, the comingglobal ID, the rebirth of the nation of Israel and the manyother prophetic developments all attest to this.

If you are asking at what point we would believe that wehave been totally off base in believing that the endtimes havearrived, it is a valid question. If twenty years from now, world

government structures have not advanced, a Jewish templehas not been built, a global ID system has not been imple-mented and developments in the Middle East have frozen inplace, then we might have to reassess our position. However,I don’t think that is going to happen.

May I reverse the question? What would have to occur foryou to believe that we are, in fact, in the endtimes? Whatwould convince you to become a committed Christian? Ihope you will give this sincere consideration.

As far as me retiring with enough money from this min-istry to live happily ever after, I don’t see it happening. So far,I’ve done nothing but give to this ministry, but I’m not com-plaining. It’s been my privilege to do it.

RFID – A way of lifeIn the Dallas Morning News on 12/28/03 there was an article,

front page, business section, discussing RFID chips and Wal-Mart. Linda Dillman, Chief Information Officer has an answerto all those opposing the technology. “Get ready, becausechange is coming. Wal-Mart is positioning itself at the front ofan inevitable technological revolution, even if it means drag-ging others into a future they're not sure they want.”

Dillman continued, “...the public doesn't change our focus onmaking sure (RFID implementation) happens.” Additionally,according to the article this change is going to start in Dallas!

Dennis Mullen, CEO of Birds Eye Foods was quoted as say-ing, “People who cannot come up to speed on this technolo-gy are going to be left behind. Eventually it's going to be away of life.” The article further points out that a can of sodacan be tracked from “manufacturer to warehouse to store toa customer's RFID-equipped refrigerator.”

Wasting time on Daniel 7You spend entirely too much time on the vision of the four

beasts in Daniel Chapter 7, and don't consider the fact thatDaniel saw what is written in Chapters 7 and 8 as the samevision. Daniel 8:1: “In the third year of the reign of king Bels-hazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, afterthat which appeared unto me at the first.”

Please consider the fact that Daniel saw the vision of thehe-goat and ram mixed in with the vision of the four beasts.

REPLY These visions actually occurred two years apart.The Daniel 7 vision happened in the first year of the reign ofBelshazzar.

We do talk about Daniel 7 quite a lot, but rightfully so. If aperson does not properly understand the identity of the lion,the eagle, the bear, the leopard and the ten-horned beast, hecannot possibly understand the world government beast ofRevelation 13. Without understanding Revelation 13, a per-son cannot understand Revelation 17. Consequently, it isimpossible to have a comprehensive understanding of Bibleprophecy without understanding Daniel 7.

Ezekiel 38-39Ezekiel says that Israel must be at peace and un-walled

before the invasion occurs. Since they are investing huge

amounts of money in a security wall (they don’t seem to bethinking that it is temporary), how can this possibly be thetime of the 6th Trumpet? Where do you place the timing ofEzekiel’s prophecy? — J. Bateman

REPLY This prophecy of Ezekiel 38 describes the Battle ofArmageddon. The prophecy states that Israel will be a nationof unwalled villages. A security wall at Israel’s border wouldnot necessarily violate this prophecy since the cities of Israelare not walled. On the other hand, Ariel Sharon has statedthat the security fence can be taken down if peace comes tothe neighborhood. Either way, it appears to me that theprophecy can still be fulfilled.

A giant steppingstoneI thank God daily for your ministry. Politics & Religion has

Harry Potter and the MarkMy son Nathan, an 8-year-old second grader, heard about

the RFID chip and the mark of the beast. He said,“Mom...you know how Harry Potter has that lightning bolt onhis forehead? Maybe they're trying to make kids think it'scool to have a mark on your forehead and when they take themark of the beast, they'll think it's cool like Harry Potter.”That gave me pause! He sees through Harry Potter, but it's allover the public schools and their libraries. Funny how theycan have books in public school that teach Wicca wrappedinside a fictional story, but anything that alludes to Christian-ity is out of bounds. — T.C.

Bush grabs new power for FBIPresident Bush has quietly signed

into law the Intelligence AuthorizationAct for fiscal year 2004, a new bill giv-ing the FBI unprecedented power toobtain records from financial institu-tions, dramatically expanding the reachof the USA Patriot Act.

Under the Patriot Act, the FBI had tosubmit subpoena requests to a federaljudge or have the approval of a seniorgovernment official. Under the newlaw, the FBI can now acquire theserecords through an administrative pro-cedure whereby an FBI field agent sim-ply drafts a letter stating the informa-tion is relevant to a national securityinvestigation.

The law also prohibits subpoenaedbusinesses from revealing to anyone,including a person under investigation,that the government has requestedrecords of their transactions.

The Bible describes an economic sys-tem in the endtime with unprecedentedworldwide control such that unless aperson bends to its will, that person willbe unable to buy anything or sell any-thing (Revelation 13:15-18). In light ofthis, developments such as the latestexpansion of Patriot Act powers deserveattention.

Time Europe defended itself saysEU military official

The European Union's top militaryofficial, Finnish general, Gustav Hag-glund suggested that American andEuropean forces should be responsiblefor their own territorial defense andonly cooperate on major crises outsidetheir regions.

Hagglund stated that it was timeEurope shouldered the defense of the

continent itself. He also said there wasno threat in Europe that the EU couldnot handle alone, especially after it adds10 new members in May, mainly for-mer communist states from central andeastern Europe.

“We don't know if the United Stateswill have forever the resources, or theinterest, to defend Europe,” he said.

Ex-Norwegian prime minister, Thorb-joern Jagland has nominated the Euro-pean Union for the Nobel Peace Prize forhelping unite the continent after the ColdWar. It is viewed as having little chanceof success in EU-skeptical Norway.

Jagland, a member of the oppositionLabor Party and nominated to the Nor-wegian Nobel Committee, said, “TheEU has helped create peace in Europe.[It] is taking major steps to end hun-dreds of years of rivalries betweennation-states in Europe.”

He said the EU deserved the prize in2004 because of the expansion from 15 to25 states that is scheduled to take place inMay. It will include former eastern blocnations such as Poland and Hungary.

Poll: European anti-Semitism lives on

On the eve of the 60th anniversary ofthe liberation of Auschwitz, a day thatIsrael has dedicated to combating anti-Semitism, a poll was released showing thatone-third of Europeans feel Jews shouldstop playing “Holocaust victim” games.

In addition, the survey, conducted byCorriere della Sera, of nine Europeancountries (Italy, France, Belgium, Aus-tria, Spain, the Netherlands, Luxem-bourg, Germany, and Britain) foundthat 46% of those interviewed feel Jewsare “different,” and 71% of them urgedIsrael to withdraw from the territories.Nine percent of respondents do not

“like or trust Jews,” and 15% would pre-fer that Israel not exist.

Just over 68% said they believedIsrael has a right to exist but that thegovernment of Prime Minister ArielSharon is “making the wrong choices.”In the countries polled, anti-Semitic sen-timent was positively connected withanti-Israel sentiment. The new anti-Semitism demonizes the state of Israel.

Meanwhile, in Britain, leading Chris-tian clergy, including the Archbishop ofCanterbury and the country’s chiefrabbi have issued a severe warningabout the resurgence of anti-Semitismand the use of anti-Israel language as acover for anti-Semitism.

Expressing their hatred of anti-Semi-tism, they admitted, “Britain has beenless affected [by anti-Semitism] thanmany other countries, but has certainlynot been immune.”

Chirac, speaking at a state banquethonoring Hu, called the March 20thplebiscite “a grave mistake” that woulddestabilize Asia. He added that Francewas attached to the idea “of just oneChina”. Court to FBI: No spying on in-car computers

A federal appeals court ruled that theFBI and other police agencies may noteavesdrop on conversations inside auto-mobiles equipped with OnStar or simi-lar dashboard computing systems.

The (usually-ultra liberal) 9th CircuitCourt of Appeals said that the FBI is notlegally entitled to remotely activate thesystem and use it to spy on passengersbecause doing so would render the sys-tem inoperable during an emergency.

In a 2-1 ruling, the majority foundthat a district judge was wrong to havegranted the FBI its request for covertmonitoring. Under current law, thecourt said, companies may only beordered to comply with wiretaps whenthe order would cause a “minimum of

interference.” The court concluded thata wiretap would create substantialinterference.

Dean pushed 'smart card' IDsDespite presidential campaign promis-

es to protect personal privacy, Democra-tic candidate Howard Dean, in 2002,advocated “smart card” IDs for all Amer-icans and pressed for a requirement thatPCs include card readers to ensure auser's identity before going online.

miles per second and thus are about 90seconds from Taiwan’s shores. ChenShui-bian has decided to put forth a ref-erendum asking China to remove theseintimidating missiles.

Chen’s ultimate desire is to hold a ref-erendum for total independence, but atPresident Bush’s request, he has prom-ised not to do it. However, thereremains one provision under which hehas reserved the right to declare sover-eignty: if the island comes under a clearand present danger. For some reason,the island’s leader feels that 496 mis-siles parked just across the Straits of Tai-wan represents such a danger.

Until now, Bush has said that the U.S.will do whatever it takes to guard Tai-

wan against a Chi-nese assault. WillBush ever back offfrom his promise to

defend her? “We oppose any unilateraldecision by either China or Taiwan tochange the status quo,” Bush said aftertalks with visiting Chinese Premier WenJiabao. “And the comments and actionsmade by the leader of Taiwan indicatethat he may be willing to make decisionsunilaterally to change the status quo,which we oppose,” Bush added. Main-taining the status quo prevents the U.S.from having to take a stand.

If Taiwan is truly a U.S. interest,which it is, then to what extent willAmerica become involved? Taiwanappears resolute to declare self-rule.China looks equally determined to haltthem. Does Washington have the abili-ty to pacify both sides? The U.S. hasthe nuclear capability to cause unthink-able mass destruction. If she is suckedinto an all-out war with China, there isno telling how the world would be for-ever altered.

What’s in a name?In a rare diplomatic victory, Taiwan

was recently able to get its national titlemodified at the International Associa-tion of Chiefs of Police (IACP) from “Tai-wan, China” to simply “Taiwan”. Thevictory has infuriated Beijing... onceagain. The news headline read, “Inter-national Body Accepts Taiwan.” Howwill this affect the slow but deadly dog-fight between Beijing and Taipei? Oneof the world’s largest law enforcementagencies no longer recognizes Taiwan asa renegade province of the Motherland.

Taiwan has continually defied Main-land China since 1949. When the com-munists overthrew the regime of FreeChina, Chiang Kai-shek and his follow-ers took flight to the island of Taiwan.Since then, Beijing has contended thatTaiwan is under China’s authority eventhough Mao Tse-tung’s communistsnever actually conquered the island.China has been vociferously demand-ing “reunification” in recent years, andit appears they are not letting up ontheir demands.

The haunting One-China Policy,which has been in force since the U.S.Congress passed the Taiwan RelationsAct in 1979, even now guides PresidentBush’s actions. He has stated that ifthere is to be unification between Tai-wan and the Mainland, it should bedone diplomatically and not by force.Taiwan has typically depended on theU.S. for military protection, but theU.S. has respected the economic andmilitary forces of the mainland. Quite abalancing act.

This is a delicate subject since, in thepast, China has stated her intentions totake out 25 major U.S. cities withnuclear ballistic missiles. With no mis-sile defense system in place, the U.S.remains vulnerable to any major nuclearpower, and China is no exception.

The Plot ThickensTaiwan is now marching towards

declaring sovereignty, or what Chinawould call the ‘abyss of destruction’. Areferendum that could lead to such adeclaration will be voted on when Tai-wan goes to the polls for the upcomingMarch 20th presidential elections.

A recent attempt to put the name‘Taiwan’ on all of its passports in placeof “Republic of China” is another exam-ple of the steps the island has been tak-ing that have exasperated the Red Chi-nese. What may seem like tiddlywinksto those of us halfway around the worldappears as a hardcore threat in the eyesof the communist Chinese.

“Taipei’s radical push towards inde-pendence has put cross-Straits relationsin the crucible... Peace and stabilityacross the Taiwan Straits will be deter-mined by what happens in the nextthree months,” said Wang Zaizi, viceminister of the Taiwan Affairs Office of

the State Council, as quoted in theChina Daily. Zaizi warned Taiwan to“stop playing with fire”. Chinese Pre-mier Wen Jiabao has vowed Beijing willpay any price to safeguard the “unity ofthe motherland”. But Wang stoppedshort of threatening force.

We are a sovereign nation! ChenShui-bian, president of Taiwan, hasdeclared autonomy at numerous junc-tures. Now we are seeing an amplifiedeffort to affirm Taiwan’s independenceon the global level. The IACP is aninternational organization. It is also a

member of Interpol, the internationalpolice system.

Nobody wants blood on their hands,yet everybody wants it their way. Is itpossible to make both Red China andTaiwan happy without resorting to full-scale warfare? Who will decide thegame has gone on long enough and acton the unthinkable?

The Day After What future date will become the

next “September 11th” that, when men-tioned, will invoke horrific memoriesforever to be embedded in the minds ofsurvivors? What will the world be likethe day after two billion people are

obliterated? Revelation 9:13-16 prophe-sies a war coming that will kill one-third of mankind. Whatever date itturns out to be, we can bank on the factthat it will be a day that the four billionsurvivors will never forget.

The prophecy states that one of thecombatants in this war will have anarmy of 200 million soldiers. China isthe only nation to ever make such aboast and have the population to back itup. We may be looking at a politicalMount St. Helens.

One thing we can know for certain: inthe event that two billion people die, itwill open the door for global governanceto have its day in the sun. The Antichristand his regime will quickly rise as thenew champions of peace. They will beembraced for their heroic leadership.But it will be the most brutal leadershipthe world has ever known.

Whether the 6th Trumpet war beginshere and now, or not, one truth remainsunchanged. It is time to proclaim thegospel like never before.

If the Bible says this war is sure tohappen, then nothing will prevent it.The only sheltered place is in the nameof Jesus Christ. Proverbs 18:10 declares,“The name of the LORD is a strongtower: the righteous runneth into it,and is safe.”

or the last ten years, ithas seemed that peacefor Israel is simplyimpossible. In January of2001, Israeli Prime Min-

ister Ehud Barak offered to return virtu-ally all of the occupied territories,including placing the Temple Mounttotally under Palestinian sovereignty.Still Palestinian leader Yasser Arafatrejected the offer, demanding thatArabs should be able to return to terri-tories lost when the Arabs launchedtheir war against Israel in 1948. Return-ing Arabs to the heartland of Israel—toTel Aviv, Haifa and Netanya—wouldhave spelled the end of the State of

Israel. The world community knewthis. Israel knew it. And Yasser Arafatknew it. But Arafat said he wouldaccept no less.

Israel was unwilling to accept nation-al suicide. So the Palestinian suicidebombings continued.

Israeli morale sank lower and lower.It appeared there was no hope in sight.Oh yes, Israel had the power to utterlydrive the Palestinians from the land; butthat was unacceptable to the worldcommunity. The Jewish people couldcontinue to slog along from suicidebombing to suicide bombing. But thefear had become palpable—fear to geton buses, go to restaurants, shop in the

malls, live a normal life.

Historic speechThen came December 17, 2003.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon deliveredhis historic speech at the annual confer-ence in Herzliya. The Palestinians werethrown into chaos and disarray bySharon’s proposals.

He challenged the Palestinians toimplement the world community’sRoadmap for Peace. That was nothingnew. But then he dropped the bomb-shell. If you are unwilling to fulfill thedemands of the international communi-ty, then Israel will move unilaterally todisengage from living with the Palestini-

ans. We will finish the build-ing of our security fence asrapidly as possible. Palestini-ans will then live on one side,and Israelis will live on theother.

Sharon warned that thePalestinians would not receiveas good a deal if Israel wereforced to separate unilaterally.Therefore, he urged the Pales-tinians to move forwardquickly to enact the Roadmapfor Peace.

The dirty secretThe first step to implementing the

Roadmap is for the Palestinians to stopall terror and to dismantle all terroristentities. However, the Palestinians can-not dismantle Hamas and the IslamicJihad without triggering a civil war. Thefirst Palestinian prime minister, Mah-moud Abbas, said that he would not dis-mantle the terrorist entities. The pres-ent prime minister, Ahmed Qurei, hassaid that he will not disarm the terror-ists. Therefore, the Roadmap cannot beimplemented by the Palestinians. ThePalestinians know this. Israel knowsthis. The United States and the worldcommunity know this.

Result? Sharon has said that he willbegin to disengage unilaterally withinsix months from the time of his speech.That will be around May. He is sayingthat Palestinians will be on one side ofthe security wall that Israel is building,and Israel will be on the other side.

What will this do?Suddenly the Palestinians will lose

the only weapon that they have to pres-sure Israel into concessions – theweapon of terrorism and suicide bomb-ings. Once the 25-foot-high wall is com-pleted, Israel will be able to live in rela-tive safety. All of a sudden, the urgencyto negotiate will be removed.

What does the Bible say about this?

The prophecies state that the

Antichrist will confirm a covenant withIsrael for seven years. They also tell usthat the Temple Mount will be sharedbetween Jew and Gentile during thesefinal seven years and that a Jewish tem-ple will be built there. Furthermore,Jesus prophesied in Matthew 24:15-21that, halfway through the final sevenyears, terrible slaughter would beunleashed against Jews living in thearea of Judea (the West Bank).

Could Sharon’s plan of unilateral dis-

engagement lead to the fulfillment ofthese prophecies? It certainly appears so.

Sharon’s plan calls for Israel’s with-drawal to the security fence now underconstruction. Settlers living in Judeaclaim they will not give up their land. IfSharon withdraws, leaving the settlersto live under Palestinian control, thiswould explain the prophesied slaughter.

The year of 2004 will be an inter-esting year for students of Bibleprophecy. e

Give credit to Hamas when credit isdue. The terrorist organization’s spiri-tual leader, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, hasopenly stated that he is prepared toaccept a temporary peace with Israeland a Palestinian state on the WestBank and Gaza with Jerusalem as itscapital city.

When one hears of a Muslim makinga “temporary peace”, it is hard to avoidrecalling the ten-year peace agreementsigned by Mohammed with the tribe ofKoreish. After two years, Mohammed'smilitary position improved inspiringhim to tear up the agreement andslaughter the Koreishites. In this samespirit, Yasser Arafat, within days aftersigning of the Oslo Peace Accords in1993, compared the historic accords tothis same Mohammedan treaty. Heshared his true intent with an Arabaudience in South Africa. It was aspeech not intended for translation andWestern consumption; however, it wascaptured on tape and leaked out.

Arafat again stated his intention tobreak his peace over-

tures with Israel just after signing theWye Accords in 1998. His admissioncame during a rally of his Fatah move-ment in Ramallah three weeks afterWye, again in Arabic and again, notintended for a Western audience. Therehe referenced the Khudaibiya agree-ment – the accord signed by Sala’adinwith the Crusaders. Sala’adin was theMuslim leader who, after this cease-fire, declared a jihad against the Cru-saders and conquered Jerusalem.

On numerous previous occasions,both Arafat and other senior Palestin-ian officials have assured Arab audi-ences that their treaties with Israel areonly temporary truces rather than gen-uine, permanent peace agreements.Israel is finally recognizing this reality,especially in light of the recent refusalof several prominent Palestinian organ-izations to sign a U.S.-sponsored com-mitment to cut funding from groupsengaged in terrorism.

Entitled “Certification Regarding Ter-rorist Financing,” it would have commit-ted the signers to pledge not to shiftfunds to anyone engaged in terrorism.The organizations, which include socialwelfare groups within the Palestinian

Authority and independent NGOsfunded mostly by the U.S. andthe EU, not only refused tosign, but they organized pub-lic demonstrations in oppo-sition to the document.

Among the terroristgroups listed were Hamas,Islamic Jihad, the AksaMartyrs Brigades (thearmed wing of Fatah), thePopular Front for the Lib-eration of Palestine, andthe Democratic Front forthe Liberation of Palestine.

Hamas is open aboutits intent. Credit is due.

With Hamas, and per-haps with the cul-ture at large, peaceagreements areunderstood to betemporary. Andthis realization ispushing Israelcloser to declaringunilateral separa-tion.

In the past, Israel was calling it asecurity fence. Today they are calling itan anti-terrorism fence; the wall thatArafat built.

The Palestinians don’t like it. Thereforethe United Nations doesn’t like it. But theUnited States seems to understandIsrael’s need for it. And the U.S. holdsveto power in the UN Security Council.

For that reason, the Palestinianscalled for a sweep left—an end-around,per se. Unable to force Israel to haltconstruction by way of a Security Coun-cil vote to be followed by economicsanctions or military force, the Arabnations, instead, asked the InternationalCourt of Justice in The Hague to rule onthe legality of the fence. In December,the UN General Assembly formallyasked the ICJ to rule on the “legal impli-cations of the construction of a wall onconquered Palestinian land.”

Israeli officials are assuming that theICJ verdict will be hostile, as is mostevery UN decision concerning Israel.Therefore, Israel is rejecting the worldgovernment court’s jurisdiction over thematter. The Sharon government is cur-rently preparing a legal, diplomatic andpublic relations battle designed to denythe ICJ’s authority to reach a decisionon the separation fence. It is sending itstop legal advisors to The Hague, and isalready laying the groundwork to justi-fy the security need for the fence.

Likewise, the Palestinian Authorityhas retained international legal authori-ties to represent its opposition to thefence at the court discussions.

The U.S. also shares Israel's concernsabout the world court asserting its influ-ence concerning the security fence. TheICJ is not under the control of theIsrael-protecting U.S. veto. Americanofficials believe that the proceedingswill set a negative precedent, politiciz-ing international law and dealing a blowto Washington’s veto-wielding influ-ence on world affairs. The U.S. is con-sidering submitting a brief of its posi-tion on the case, and perhaps even tak-ing part in the discussions.

The case is slated to be heard on Feb-ruary 23. ee

t was early 2003 and the out-look was bleak. The war hadbegun.

After three years of quietresearch and planning, the

MIT Auto-ID Center, a consortium ofover 100 global corporations and gov-ernment agencies, was set to launch theInternet of Things – a system using tinycomputer chips with miniature anten-nas to tag, number, and track everyobject on the planet.

Major companies were preparing totest the system in real stores, on live

shoppers. Gillette had announced plansto purchase 500 million RFID tags froma company called Alien Technology foruse in its shaving products. Benettonwas gearing up to put 15 million spychips in women’s clothing. Other com-panies would quickly follow suit. Andyet the world's people knew nothing.

The experts behind the systemexpected little resistance from the pub-lic. Though their research found that 78percent of people surveyed objected toRFID technology on privacy grounds, italso indicated they could hope for apa-

thy, provided no one stepped forward tolead the public in opposition. The coastlooked clear for a full-scale rollout. Theworld would be invaded by this tech-nology before people even knew whathad hit them.

But we changed all of that. In a Davidvs. Goliath style miracle, a small band ofcommitted individuals armed with littlemore than the truth and big dose of faithfoiled the plans of some of the world’srichest and most powerful corporations.

In March 2003, CASPIAN (Con-sumers Against Supermarket PrivacyInvasion and Numbering) launched aworldwide boycott campaign againBenetton that brought media coveragefrom as far away as Tasmania and Swe-den. The company was inundated withcalls and letters from angry consumersaround the globe protesting its planneduse of spy chips in clothing. Within afew short weeks, Benetton canceled itsplans to turn women’s clothing intotracking devices and promised con-sumers that their clothes would be spy-chip free.

Other companies took the hint andwent underground with their RFID spychip plans, but CASPIAN pursued them.This summer I found a Gillette smartshelf that uses a hidden camera to takemug shots of consumers as they pick upproducts. The shelf had been quietlyinstalled in a Wal-Mart store in Brock-ton, Massachusetts, just an hour frommy home. When word of the trial gotout, Wal-Mart was inundated with cus-tomer complaints. While both Gilletteand Wal-Mart initially denied the exis-

tence of the shelf, I bought a disposablecamera and took a few photos for pos-terity. When I shared these photos withthe media, suddenly Wal-Mart andGillette remembered the shelf, butclaimed it had never been activated.

As soon as it found itself in a publicrelations firestorm, Wal-Mart assuredconsumers that RFID technologywould not be appearing on the retailfloor of its stores, and Gillette claimed itwould not be tagging any more prod-ucts “for ten years.” When we laterchecked, sure enough the photo-snap-ping shelf in Brockton had vanished.Wal-Mart, the world's biggest retailer,had backed down, beating a hastyretreat from a controversial technology.Consumers had won their second enor-mous victory.

Soon after saving American con-sumers from spy shelf technology, wewere dismayed to learn that Gillettewas taking pictures of unsuspectingBritish customers at a chain calledTesco. (Tesco is Britain’s biggest super-market chain, similar to our familiarWal-Mart.) CASPIAN got the word outto UK citizens by working for over amonth with a reporter from TheGuardian newspaper to uncover docu-ments and get the evidence published.After the resulting outcry led toprotests at Tesco stores, those spy

shelves, too, disappeared. As these scandals were unfolding, the

proponents of RFID were working on atop-secret public relations plan to “paci-fy” the public. The folks at the MITAuto-ID Center (who had promisedthat data collected through their globalspy system would be safe in their con-trol), had left dozens of sensitive inter-

nal documents accessible on their web-site. We were able to access thesedirectly over the World Wide Web bysimply by typing the word “confiden-tial” into their public search engine.These confidential documents revealedthe Center’s strategies to “drive adop-tion” and “neutralize opposition” toRFID, while depending on consumer

“apathy” to minimize their troubles.They also listed by name several law-makers, privacy advocates, and otherswhom they hoped to “bring into theCenter’s ‘inner circle’”.

A flurry of critical media stories fol-lowed, busting the RFID issue wide open.Companies hastily canceled longstandingplans to test RFID tags on consumers.Almost overnight their focus shifted fromtracking people and purchases to trackinginventory in back room warehouses, farfrom public scrutiny. Since that time, nocompany has dared to publicly attemptlive RFID tests involving consumers inthe United States. Any trials that hadalready taken place have been buried andquietly covered up.

Companies have not been entirelysuccessful in destroying evidence oftheir trials, however. Recently, it cameto light that Procter & Gamble and Wal-Mart used consumers as guinea pigs totest an RFID shelf holding Lipfinity lip-stick. Lipfinity purchasers at a Wal-Mart store in Broken Arrow, Oklahomawere observed as they interacted with

the tagged lipsticks, and images of themwere beamed by webcam to P&G exec-utives 750 miles away. Again, the com-panies first denied the trial, but cavedin the face of evidence provided by theChicago Sun Times, which uncoveredthe story. Wal-Mart and P&G wereforced to acknowledge the tests but said

no further RFID experiments werebeing planned.

In September, CASPIAN turned outto protest RFID's version of a coming ofage party: the official launch of theElectronic Product Code (EPC) networkin Chicago. This is the event where“deputized evangelists” were enlisted tohelp spread the “holy grail” of RFID likea contagion to attendees. (These are realphrases, taken from actual documentsand individuals promoting the event.Religious terminology abounded.)“EPC” is the official name for the RFIDtags slated to replace the bar code on allmanufactured products, thus turningthe things we buy into tracking devices.

Over 30 demonstrators turned out toprotest the EPC network launch, whichwe planned to coincide with Gillette's“Reasons to Believe” speech. Some tooktime off from work and school and oth-ers drove over two hours in Chicago'snotorious rush hour traffic to attend. Ifiled a civil rights lawsuit to ensure ourFirst Amendment right to speak pub-licly at the event and spent a full day infederal court to plead our case. We did-n't even learn where we would beassembling until the 11th hour.

A year ago, I felt powerless to fightthe onslaught of MIT's spy chip tech-nology. What could one woman and aloosely affiliated band of consumerspossibly do to slow the avalanche head-ed our way? I said my prayers and tooka stand, armed only with a fistful ofcourage and a heart full of faith. Andwhat a year it has turned out to be! Tomy amazement, almost one year to the

day after I first vowed to fight RFID, Ifound myself addressing an auditoriumfull of scientists, engineers, businessexecutives and reporters – on MIT’sown property – as the invited keynotespeaker on RFID privacy! Truly Godhad prepared a table before me in thepresence of my enemies.

As if our blessing were not enoughalready, the icing on the cake was beingable to present this assembled crowdwith a position statement on RFIDsigned by over 40 of the world’s leadingprivacy and civil liberties organizations.(See it online at: http://www.priva-cyrights.org/ar/RFIDposition.htm) Inthis document, we call for a moratori-um on item-level tagging of consumerproducts and outline a series of unac-ceptable practices.

The eyes of the world are now on theRFID industry. No longer can it operatein darkness and secrecy. No longer isour band of freedom-fighting consumersalone, but we have now been joined byorganizations representing hundreds ofthousands of consumers across theglobe. God has called in the cavalry.

What looked bleak last year has takenan optimistic turn. We have much tolook forward to: a few more years tolive and worship freely.

So was President Bush right? Is theunification of Europe, which we arepresently witnessing, the re-creation ofthe Roman Empire?

The President’s statement is interest-ing because the Bible prophesies therebirth of the Holy Roman Empire rightbefore the Second Coming of Jesus. TheHoly Roman Empire is the RomanEmpire in a modified form.

There are two prophecies that foretellthe re-emergence of the Holy Roman

Empire. They are found in Daniel 2 andRevelation 17.

Over the last 1,200 years, the HolyRoman Empire has always been led bytwo men, a political leader and a spiri-tual leader. This will be true of the lastrise of the Holy Roman Empire. TheBible calls those two men the Antichristand the False Prophet.

A united EuropeThe January 3, 2004 edition of The

Economist featured an article entitled,“The History of an Idea.” The articlestates, “Ever since the fall of Rome, astrain in European thought has longedfor the re-creation of an over-archingpolitical structure for Europe, and hasused the Roman Empire as a model. In800 AD, more than three centuries afterthe fall of the Roman Empire, Charle-magne, the king of the Franks, had him-self crowned in Rome by the pope. Hisnew empire stretched from the Pyre-nees to the Danube and from Hamburgto Sicily; and his imperial seal bore thewords Renovatio Imperii Romani, ‘theRenewal of the Roman Empire.’”

In making his remark, PresidentBush, knowingly or not, touched upon

a crucial point: the drive for Europeanunity has deep historical origins. Theystretch back to the dissolution of theRoman Empire and the memory of theempire Charlemagne strove to renew.Napoleon tried to re-create it throughhis Legion of Honor in 1802, which wasmodeled after the Roman Legio Hono-ratorum. Hitler attempted to unifyEurope. His loyalists gave the Romansalute. Their cry, “Heil Hitler!” wasmodeled after “Hail Caesar!” Even theNazi’s SS division for French volunteerswas called the “Charlemagne Division”.Whether in times of war or peace, theinspiration for European unification hasalways been attributed to Charlemagne.

In May, ten new nations will join theEuropean Union, bringing the totalmembership to 25 nations. This willswell the population of the EU to 450million. The economies of these nationswill merge, with most adopting a com-mon currency—the euro, and allnational borders will be abolished. Alsoscheduled for 2004 is the election of aEuropean president, the formation of aEuropean military and the adoption ofa European constitution. We are wit-nessing nothing short of the creation of

The United States dominates theworld today causing some to accuse theU.S. of being a revived Roman Empire.However, a true reincarnation of anancient empire is being born in Europe.

When they cry ‘peace, peace’Former attempts to recreate the

Roman Empire had been made by mili-tary force. However, today the missionis nearly accomplished without a shotbeing fired. The ammunition of thearchitects of the new Europe has beenwords. The weapon—peace.

The rationale in the drive for the uni-fication of Europe has been to ensurethat the continent, which gave us WorldWar I and World War II, would never bethe source of World War III. Europeanleaders pointed out that the horriblewars of the 20th Century were ignitedby national conflicts. They reasonedthat if borders were eliminated and thenation-states of Europe were mergedinto a United States of Europe, the caus-

es of war would be dissolved andEurope would live in peace.

The Economist boldly claims: “TheRomans and Charlemagne actuallyinspired the fathers of the EU, whoseobjectives were the exact opposite ofwar. Indeed, the founding treaty of theircreation was signed in Rome, of course,in 1957.” Present European leaders hopeto return to the Eternal City in 2004 toput their names to a new constitution.

Should anyone be surprised that theexpansion of the European club is beingmanaged from the Charlemagne Build-ing in Brussels?

The “Holy” Roman EmpireWhat is the distinction between the

Roman Empire and the Holy RomanEmpire? The Roman Empire was strictlypolitical. But as in Nebuchadnezzar’sdream in Daniel 2, the last empire wasmade of iron mingled with clay—theRoman Empire joined with the CatholicChurch. When Pope Leo III placed thecrown on Charlemagne’s head in 800 AD,it became a union of church and state.

The current challenge for the EU is toget a constitution adopted. Poland, oneof the countries to become a memberthis year, torpedoed the process when itinsisted on having the same number ofvotes in EU decision making as Ger-many and France. Germany’s popula-tion is twice the size of Poland’s, andshe has a much larger economy. There-fore, Germany insists that the votingstrength of each country be apportionedaccording to population. Poland contin-ues to hold out for an equal voice.

Poland is also insisting that the newEuropean constitution include recogni-tion of the Roman Catholic Church’shistoric role in Europe. This should notsurprise us since Poland is the homelandof Pope John Paul II. Many nationalleaders are resisting any mingling of pol-itics and religion in the new constitu-tion. Could Poland possibly compromiseon the voting issue in exchange for offi-cial EU recognition of the Pope’s tradi-tional role in the Holy Roman Empire?

World government: UN or EU?Under the presidency of George W.

Bush, the United Nations has beendiminishing in influence. Some believethat the UN has been irreversibly dam-aged by the unilateral invasion of Iraqby the U.S.

Robert Muller, former Assistant UNSecretary-General, known as the Prophetof the UN, told ENDTIME that if the Unit-ed Nations does not succeed, then thefocus should switch to Europe, because italready has the mechanisms for a worldgovernmental system in place.

Will Muller be proven right? Will theseat of global authority shift to theEuropean Union? If American unilater-alism continues in defiance of the Unit-ed Nations, then the global plannersmay very well be tempted to move theirheadquarters to Geneva where much ofthe structure of the United Nations islocated, or Brussels, the seat of the EU.They may even be tempted to movetheir headquarters to the internationalcity of the world, Jerusalem. That hasbeen suggested since Jerusalem is theonly city on earth that the UN has des-ignated as an international city underUN administration. Even former PrimeMinister Shimon Peres suggested lastyear that Jerusalem should become thecapital of the world with the UN Secre-tary General as its mayor.

The UN apparatus is probably too far

advanced to be dissolved. A marriagebetween the UN and the EU appears tobe a more likely scenario. Such a devel-opment may be the fulfillment of howthe four separate powers of Daniel 7merge into one global governmentdepicted in Revelation 13.

A large exhibition on the history ofthe idea of European Unity was stagedlast year at the German History Muse-um in Berlin. It emphasized the intellec-tual origins of the idea of Europeanunity. Victor Hugo, the French 19thCentury novelist, proclaimed in 1849,“A day will come when you, France,you, Russia, you, Italy, you Germany,

you, all nations of the continent, with-out losing your distinctive qualities andglorious individuality, will be mergedwithin a superior unit.” The exhibitionclosed with a quotation from ValerieGiscard d’Estang, chairman of the con-vention that drafted the disputed EUconstitution: “Dream of Europe. Let usimagine a continent at peace, freed ofits barriers and obstacles, where historyand geography are finally reconciled.”

The Economist summed it up thisway: “If pressed, few of the architects ofthe modern Europe venture woulddeny that they hope that one day theEU will be a great power—a peaceable,liberal, law-based and generous greatpower, no doubt, but one capable oflooking the United States or China inthe eye. Mr. Bush caught an authenticwhiff of this ambition when he teasedMr. Prodi about the new RomanEmpire.”

World leaders know we are seeingthe rebirth of the Holy Roman Empire.We know it is prophesied in the Bibleand that this will be the last worldempire. It will give rise to the Antichristand the False Prophet.

The year 2004 is scheduled to be acrowning year in the drive towardEuropean unity. But this empire will beshort-lived and will culminate in thebattle of Armageddon and the SecondComing of Jesus Christ.

It was a safe enough questionbecause it was obvious he wouldn’tanswer. He could, but he wouldn’t.Chris’ scripture deflector was raised toits full and upright position and work-ing better than the Enterprise’s photontorpedo shield.

First, there was that uncomfortablepause of silence. “Well,” he began, “I’ll tellyou what I am. I’m a Christian, and, uh,I’ll leave it at that. And I wholeheartedlybelieve in the Old Testament and NewTestament. Yeah, you know, I mean... it’svery political and it’s very complicatedand I’m just saying that I think theworld... and I think this country... it’s pre-sented in a much, much different light. Soit just goes to show just how biased ourmedia is. I’m sure you would agree it’sJewish-run and Jewish-owned predomi-nantly in this country. I mean, you’ve gotGerald Levin at Time Warner, uh, youknow, so on and so forth, uh, you know,there’s certainly a slant.”

Thanks for the insight, Chris.Chris represents one of thousands,

perhaps millions, of church-going folkwho have a problem. They have beentaught wrong. At one point or another

in each of our lives, we have beenexposed to a less-than-perfect way on avariety of subjects. Nobody is immune.No, not even preachers’ kids. But it isincumbent upon each of us to come toterms with these issues and correctthem. Our Corrector is the Bible.

War is ugly. In the Middle East, atroc-ities have been committed on bothsides. A true Christian cannot justifyacts of terror, nor justify retaliation.Two wrongs do not make a right. Sohow can a true Christian choose sides insuch a struggle? What must be theChristian position in the Israeli-Palestin-ian conflict?

Andre, a Jordanian now living in theFort Wayne, Indiana area, attempted todeal with this subject on a Politics &Religion broadcast. Unfortunately,Andre only wanted to deal with the pol-itics. The religious aspect presented forhim an irreconcilable problem.

“If you were a Palestinian and lived inIsrael,” he began, “and somebodycomes and takes your house, destroys it,and you live like a second class citizen,and they bring Jews from Germany andRussia and live in your land, whatwould you do if you were a Palestinianand a Muslim?”

Andre asked a good question, butasked the wrong person. “First of all,”answered Irvin Baxter, “I would convertfrom being a Muslim to Christianity.Number two, having read the Bible Iwould know that the land was prom-ised to Israel, so I would trust in God tofind me another place to live.”

“So all of the Palestinians should leave.”

“You’re asking me what I would do;I’m answering the question. I might moveto an Arab country, or America, or live inIsrael under the Israeli government.”

“So you don’t think they should haveintifada (armed resistance, terror) ornothing. You think they should just shuttheir mouths and sit down and let Israeldo whatever they want.”

“No. I don’t think Israel should bepersecuting them either. I don’t thinkIsrael should take their land by force...”

“Well, they are doing it, and you sayyou are the lover of the Jews, so you’reagreeing with everything they’re doing.”

“No, I’m not agreeing with every-thing they’re doing.”

“I never see you saying anything neg-ative about them hardly ever,” contin-ued Andre, still missing the point. “I’ma born again Christian also. But you arealways pro-Israeli. The Arabs are livingin disgusting... and you know this,you’ve been there many times, you’veseen it in your eyes, but you just think...they’re taking their land by force everysingle day and it sounds okay to you,because that’s just the way it...”

“I know this is a very sensitive thing,Andre, and I respect you and appreciateyour call.” Baxter decided to play ballon Andre’s political turf first, saving theBible slant for later. “The Jewish peopleoffered 97% of the land back at CampDavid. Arafat refused to take it. How dothe Palestinians see that – especially thepeace-loving Palestinians?”

“How do they see it?” Andre parrot-ed, trying to buy some thinking time.

“Yes,” said Baxter, not giving him much.

“Chris,” I said to ourcaller in a final act offutility, “I appreciate yourdesire not to have a bibli-cal debate. So...withoutany debate, I give you thefloor. Tell everyone whereyou believe the Biblestands on this issue.”

Baxter’s question was, of course,unanswerable. “I was not in CampDavid and neither were you. This is thereporting you hear on CNN. But ArielSharon,” now changing subjects, “theguy who killed in Sabra and Shatilla inLebanon convinced by Israel and theUnited States, you guys think he’s thehero. You always say he’s the hero, andBinyamin Netanyahu, who killed somany Arabs, and they’re heroes to you.”

“Do you think that Arafat is a hero?”Rhetorical question #2.

“I don’t know…it’s not my job to saywho’s a hero or not. But I’m talkingabout your guy... I don’t have the radioshow to convince people, but you guysdo. But you guys are one-sided. Youalways bring a Jewish point of view tothe radio. The Arabs to you is whoshould be condemned; move to Jordan.Get rid of the Palestinians, put them toJordan, and long live Israel. That’s howyou guys think.”

“Andre, what should we do then?”Ball’s in your court. Third question, stillseeking one answer; none forthcoming.

“If you love your neighbor the sameway you love yourself, you wouldn’t betalking like that. Go see the way theylive, and then you should say... theyshould live exactly... with dignity.”

“If I were the king in Israel, the firstthing I would do is begin teaching theprinciples of Jesus Christ. Palestiniansshould love Israelis, Israelis should lovePalestinians...”

“But you guys don’t love Palestinians.You’re on the radio, sir...”

“Hang on. Let me talk to you. I’ve

had dinner in many Palestinian homes.I have some very close friends who arePalestinians...”

“Yeah, but I know you...”“Let me talk for a minute. To be real-

istic, we probably are past the day whengeography is important. This mess is notgoing to be straightened out. Only Jesus’returning is going to straighten it out.And so...” here comes some Bible, “...ifat times we come across as soundingpro-Israeli, it’s because I do believe God

gave that land to the Israelis. However,do I believe they should go in there andkill? No, I don’t believe that. I don’tbelieve Palestinians should kill either. Idon’t believe any Christian should do illto any person.”

Andre has yet to latch onto a scrip-ture he can call his own.

“My whole point of calling is both of

you, day and night, promote Israel asthe heroes. And Arafat always the killer.And the Palestinians – why are theykilling Israelis? But you guys don’t sayIsrael is killing them with airplanes, hel-icopters, tanks, and the Palestinianshave stones,” a statement that is notentirely factual. “You make it sound likethe Palestinians are disgusting people.You guys so pro-Israel blindly. You sayyou’re the lover of the Jews, and thissidekick of yours,” referring to thewriter of this article, “says he is a Zion-ist. You’re just so proud of it. Whatabout the Arabs? Are they so monstrousto you guys, just because God givesthem the land? Maybe he did. Fine,fine. But that’s not what I’m calling for.”

He agrees. God gave the land toIsrael. But strangely, the discussion’snot over.

“You guys should have a heart. You’reChristians, you say. Those Jews, all ofthem going to hell, because they don’thave Jesus in their heart. They’re notborn again Christians. Am I right?”

“You’re right,” answered Baxter. Jewish people, however, aren’t the

only ones who don’t have Jesus in theirheart, thought the Zionist and perhapsthousands of listeners.

“And,” continued Andre, “they’re allgoing to hell, but you never talk to themlike that. You see when they come onyour show you talk to them like, oh myGod, they are so wonderful. But they’renot. They’re going to hell. But you nevertell them that. That’s your job. You’re apastor. The most important thing is to beborn again Christian. Not to love Jews

The God-FactorChris, on the other hand, is neither a

descendant of Ishmael, nor Esau as isAndre. He is as American as mom,apple pie and baseball. And yet...

“The myth here,” he says, “is thatIsrael won all the wars, not because theJews are superior or anything like that.It’s because of American dollars andpower.”

“Do we give God any credit for this?”Baxter asks the obvious.

“No, I don’t. Give God credit forwhat? Killing all the Arabs and makingIsrael succeed? You have to give Israel$3 billion per year. That’s why theywon the wars. It’s not because God ismiraculous.”

Yes, that’s what Chris said. Let’s takea look at what God said. Ezekiel 37:21-22: “And say unto them, Thus saith theLord GOD; Behold, I will take the chil-dren of Israel from among the heathen,whither they be gone, and will gatherthem on every side, and bring them intotheir own land: And I will make themone nation in the land upon the moun-tains of Israel; and one king shall be king

to them all: and they shall be no moretwo nations, neither shall they be divid-ed into two kingdoms any more at all.”

This is the famous prophecy for Israelin the endtimes. Some have said it wasfulfilled in Old Testament times – that itis not a prophecy for our day. But thiscannot be true. The scripture says thatno more shall they be two nations. Israeland Judah were always two nations upuntil the dispersion in 70 AD.

Ezekiel 37 has never before been ful-filled until modern times, and evennow, its complete fulfillment is a workin progress.

God said that He would take the chil-dren of Israel from among the hea-then…and would gather them…andbring them into their own land. God isspecifically saying this is something Hewould do, and now He is doing it.

During the first half of the 20th cen-tury, God brought the Jewish peoplefrom the four corners of the earth backinto the land promised to Abraham. OnMay 14, 1948, by a sovereign act ofAlmighty God, Israel declared its state-hood. The following day, 42 milliondescendants of Ishmael and Esaulaunched a war to snuff out God’s baby

before she could take her firstbreath. She was an untrained, one-day-old nation of 600,000. God’sbaby won. The Arabs tried it againin the 1956 Suez Canal campaignand lost. They tried again in 1967for what turned out to be six verylong days, and again in 1973 whenmost Jews were in synagogue ontheir holiest day of the year. Bothtimes, obliterated.

Against all odds, yes, but oddsmean nothing to the Creator of theuniverse. To fight against Israel’sright to the land is to fight againstGod Himself.

A prophecy for the endtimesThese matters are not trivial.

The Battle of Armageddon is get-ting ready to be fought over thisissue. Israel’s borders, the WestBank settlers, water rights, theTemple Mount – hardly peripher-al issues. They will soon affectevery human on the face of theearth. The kingdom of theAntichrist will be very muchinvolved in the Middle East. The

Bible says he will stand in a rebuilt Jew-ish temple claiming to be Messiah andGod.

God said He would establish the chil-dren of Israel in their land. God is notthe author of war. Satan is. But God hasa plan – a plan for the endtime.

“And they shall dwell in the land thatI have given unto Jacob my servant,”reads Ezekiel 37:25, “wherein yourfathers have dwelt; and they shall dwelltherein, even they, and their children,and their children's children for ever.”

Jacob, who became Israel, was giventhe land...forever. The re-establishmentof the nation of Israel will never bereversed. It shall remain in spite ofNasser, Assad and Arafat; in spite of theUnited Nations and the EuropeanUnion; and in spite of every person,‘Christian’ or otherwise, who argues infavor of the Palestinian’s claim on theland. These are fighting the will of theFather Himself.

The third chapter of Joel speaksdirectly to all who would want to seethe land of Israel parted and its peopledisplaced and scattered. It speaks topeople like former Prime MinistersEhud Barak, Shimon Peres and the late-Yitzhak Rabin who desired to see theland divided once more. It speaks toChris and Andre, to me and to you.

“Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles;Prepare war… Beat your plowsharesinto swords, and your pruninghooksinto spears...” says Joel 3:10-14. “Assem-ble yourselves, and come, all ye hea-

then, Let the heathen be wakened, andcome up to the valley of Jehoshaphat:for there will I sit to judge all the hea-then round about. Put ye in the sickle,for the harvest is ripe… for theirwickedness is great. Multitudes, multi-tudes in the valley of decision: for theday of the LORD is near in the valley ofdecision.”

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 offers this:“…I have set before you life and death,blessing and cursing: therefore chooselife, that both thou and thy seed maylive: That thou mayest love the LORDthy God, … for he is thy life, and thelength of thy days: that thou mayestdwell in the land which the LORDsware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, toIsaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

Most of the Islamic nations shall beleft a desolate wilderness for their vio-lence against the people who God choseto bring the light of the one-God mes-sage to a dark, pagan world. The Jewishpeople have a zeal for God, the sameGod spoken of in the New Testament,the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.But their zeal is not according to knowl-edge – the knowledge of Jesus as Messi-ah. Who will be their witness?

Yes, atrocities have been committedon both sides. But why would anyBible-loving Christian want to defendYasser Arafat? He is fighting God. IfGod is for Israel, who can be against it?

Genesis 12:3: “And I will bless themthat bless thee, and curse him thatcurseth thee: and in thee shall all fami-lies of the earth be blessed.”

Genesis 15:18: “In the same day theLORD made a covenant with Abram,saying, Unto thy seed have I given thisland, from the river of Egypt unto thegreat river, the river Euphrates.” Godgave the land to Abraham and hispromised seed – to Isaac, not Ishmael.And then to Jacob, not Esau.

Zephaniah 2:5: “Woe unto the inhab-itants of the sea coast, the nation of theCherethites! the word of the LORD isagainst you; O Canaan, the land of thePhilistines, I will even destroy thee, thatthere shall be no inhabitant.”

Revelation 12 is a picture of thenation of Israel being protected fromthe dragon, Satan, during the endtime.She will be protected by God fromthose who would destroy her. If you areagainst Israel, then you are againstGod’s divine purpose.

It’s Judgment Day. You are naked andstanding before your God. “Yes Lord,” yousay to Him, “I supported Yasser Arafat.”

Confronting traditionIt’s a sensitive issue. It counters cul-

tures and traditions and rears its uglyhead in so-called Christian circles instrange ways. It’s the grand Jewish plotto take over the world. The noun “Jew”becomes a verb.

Is it possible that even the very electwill fall victim to their own “godly her-itage?” The answer may be found in thispop quiz:

A famous German once said, “Theyare nothing but thieves and robberswho daily eat no morsel and wear nothread of clothing which they have notstolen and pilfered from us by means oftheir accursed usury... Eject them forev-er from this country... Do not grantthem protection or safe-conduct... Saveour souls from the Jews, that is, fromthe devil... Set fire to their synagoguesand schools – this is to be done in honorof our Lord and of Christendom, so thatGod might see that we are Christians...I advise that their houses also be razedand destroyed... I advise that their rab-bis be forbidden to teach henceforth onpain of loss of life and limb... I advisethat all cash and treasure of silver andgold be taken from them and put aside

for safekeeping... Amen.”Who was he? If you said Adolph

Hitler, then you are wrong. It was Mar-tin Luther.

To my Jewish friends, please under-stand that not all who call themselvesChristians are, in fact, that. No trueChristian would ever persecute you,nor would they try to separate you fromyour land. Not everyone who says Lord,Lord shall make it to heaven. Manywho cast out demons in Jesus’ nameshall, on Judgment Day, hear the words,“I never knew you: depart from me, yethat work iniquity.”

for His word are the signs of a true child of God. If the God-Factor has to be taken out in order to make a case againstIsrael, and the person still call himself a Christian, what thenis a Christian?

We are friends of Israel, but we are not for everything shedoes. God loves the Palestinians as much as He loves the Jew-ish people, and everyone needs to be saved. If we do notunderstand the spiritual side of this conflict, then the politicswill make no sense. We cannot divorce ourselves from the bib-lical stance, lest there is no place to stand at all. Without theBible we may find ourselves hating the Jews. We may find our-selves fighting God. He gave the land to Israel. e
