Notes from the beach...

I’m guessing you think summer is a time to do nothing but lay on the beach and have some pretty drinks. That would be nice, but it’s far from the truth. Summer can be used as a time to reflect upon how far you have come as an association or as an individual leader. Where were you a year ago today? What were you doing? Are you satisfied with whom you have be-come and the growth of your local association?

I urge each of you to take the time to think upon these things during the summer break so you may come back in August with a renewed spirit, to have a revitalized sense of who you are and what the purpose of your association is, and still is to be-come.

When we meet again, I will ask each of you these questions because our individual journeys as well as the group journey is very important to our growth of FFCCHA. Each of you are very im-portant and because of your commitment we can function as an effective group. Let us flourish within the next year to a new fulfillment and vigor for excellence.

Parent Partners, hopes and dreams!

When you look at your child do you wonder what they will be like in their future? Did you know as a par-ent or prominent person in their lives, you can directly affect who they will become? You will be the biggest determinant of who your child will be as they grow.

This is a great opportunity to pay attention to your child, read daily, talk often, and have gentle touches.

It is within life’s everyday moments that will become your child’s greatest moments. You already have eve-rything it takes to be the best sup-porter of your child. In the goodnight kiss or in the morning hello over break-fast, your child will receive posi-tive affirmations that will make his or her day a great day…every day.

NANCY NAIRNS

Nancy is a native of Florida and Pasco County and has been married to her wonder-ful husband Bill for over 31 years. They have 3 amazing kids, now 29, 25 & 23, who were raised with God first, values, family, and friends in their community. After the birth of her 3rd child, Nancy left the accounting field after 10 years to be with them. She stayed home for 3 years, then started in the childcare profession in the PreK ESE class over 20 years ago, the last 14 years as a Licensed Family Child Care home in Pasco County. She became a Large Family Child Care home in 2010 with her husband as her Full time Business Partner, supported through the years by their 3 children who are also substitutes.

Nancy started this business after 9/11/2001 when her position at the school board was cut and she was at a loss of what to do next. Two friends from church, also child-care providers, encouraged her to follow her passion of working with kids, especially those with special needs, and she became licensed 1 year after 9/11/2001. She loves watching the children grow and learn and especially loves helping the children with special needs and helping the parents to un-derstand. She truly believes that it is extremely important to work with our children from birth to 5 as those are their foundation years.

Nancy is NAFCC Accredited, 4 STARS, is on the FFCCHA Conference Team, and is a past FFCCHA board member. Her home has 2 designated classrooms, a playground that is over 7500 square feet of shade trees, toys, a science area, and exploration areas. Her program is infant to school age and in 2011 she also started a VPK program. She has been blessed to have several groups of children attend, graduate and head off to public or private schools. In fact many start as infants until they graduate. One year a spe-cial boy, who started at 6 weeks old, would not attend a public after-school program, so Bill transported him back and forth to a school out of district until he was comfortable. In 1st grade, the boy started attending the school’s program. Several children still come back and visit, especially over the summer. Nancy could not be more proud of the children who come through her doors and is blessed to be a part of their lives.

Hi, I’m Lucinda, your new Area Rep Coordinator!!

I am very excited to begin working with an awesome

group of ladies! My goal is to continue to help the Area Reps excel and build membership for FFCCHA.

In the past, it was my pleasure to serve as the Area Rep #7 for Duval County. During that time, I was able to meet with the Early Learning Coalition of Duval County, the local Food Program and speak at the local college.

A little about me: I have been licensed family child care provider for over 17 years. I am the proud mother of three sons, Antonio, Andrew and A’mare. My hobbies are bowling and shopping.

My passion is volunteering within my community, supporting children and families in need. I also dedicate my-self to helping providers and sharing resources. My phone: 904-475-0458 and my email is: [email protected]

Hope to see everyone soon at the next meeting in Ocala

on August 5th!
