WHAT WE WANT TO ACHIEVE

We have decided that our film is going to be a crime drama. From a traditional crime drama you can expect the film to have a mysterious aspect, usually

displaying a protagonist and an antagonist.

In our opening scene we are following the traditional crime drama structure by keeping a protagonist and antagonist. In addition to this we desire to create a mysterious element to the film, preventing the audience from getting bored. We also wanted to incorporate emotional sections and help the audience to

build a relationship with the characters, provoking an emotional response from them.

ASPECTS WE INTEND THE DRAMA TO PORTRAY

We want the production to revolve around a tense and dramatic storyline which keeps the audience engaged and eager to continue watching. Also, we feel that

character development is vital, allowing the audience to get to know the characters and present the audience with the opportunity to follow the actors with their

journey throughout the production. In addition to this we want to create a clear and dramatic moment within the production, allowing the audience a time to react and show their emotions. In order to make the film as realistic as possible we are going to source high quality materials for props and keep our production as close to real

situations as possible. Also, the ending will involve a form of realisation and narrative solution, leaving the audience with a positive outlook on the film.

OTHER PEOPLE’S PERSPECTIVE ON THE PURPOSE OF AN OPENING SCENE

• TO INFORM – telling the audience who produced the film, the actors featured in the film etc.

• TO PERSUADE – encouraging the audience to carry on watching the rest of the film.

• TO ENTERTAIN – keeping the audience interested and engaged.
