Greetings to the Troopers, Families, and friends of the

    Professionals.

The month of April has afforded the Professionals another

exciting training opportunity. Throughout the month we

continued to hone our ability to deliver timely and accurate

indirect fires conducting multiple live fire exercises, AirAssault gun raids, and drop zone live fire exercises. These

training exercises are the first that the Battalion has

executed in over two years. Although this is the case, the

Professionals have risen to the occasion and executed

    each event with exact precision.

Spring is here and many of the Professional Troopers have

begun to bring their motorcycles out of storage. In

response to this, we conducted our first Motorcycle Safety

Stand-down focused on increasing Troopers understanding

of the Department of Defense requirements to operate a

motorcycle, inspection of the operational readiness their

respective motorcycles, and to discuss safe riding habits.

As it continues to warm up their will be more and more

riders on the road. I challenge everyone to be extracautious in traffic and look twice for motorcycle riders in

    order to avoid potential accidents.

As many of you may know, April was volunteer

recognition month. We observed this month by

recognizing several well deserving volunteers from

the Professionals. Our own Mrs. Amada Downey

from the Golf Company received the Fort Bragg Iron

Mike Award for her exceptional volunteer service and

contributions to the Professional Team. In addition,

several spouses from across the Battalion were rec-ognized by the Division Commander during the 82nd

    Airborne Division Volunteer Recognition Ceremony

for their support to the Professionals. I would like to

personally congratulate and thank each of you for

your hard work and contributions to the Battalion.

Although we have a lot of great volunteers more are

always needed. We continue to look for volunteers

to serve as Key Callers, Care Team members, and to

support general fundraising and activity support. If

you interested in serving in any capacity please

    contact your respective Battery/Company FRG

    leader.

Ladies and Gentlemen of our PRO

Family...good day to you and I hope this

finds you all in great spirits! I am writing

you from my foxhole during the current

platoon live fire. Your Troopers are

driving on through this rainy weather

with a smile because they are part of an

    awesome event, training the 82nd

Airborne Way!!! We have been saying

goodbye to many of our Troopers as

they move on with their civilian lives or

their next duty assignment, the only

drawback is we are not fast enough at

replacing those we have seen leave.

Most of our leaders are working two

and three different jobs to ensure all

Troopers are taken care of and

the miss ion is accompl ished.

Re-enlistments are on the rise and we

are seeing more Troopers wanting to

stay because the Battalion has really

hit full stride for getting back to being

Artillery. Spring is definitely here and

summer is around the corner, please

make sure all your loved ones stay

hydrated with water. The sun is

    relentless and will deplete your

energy quickly if you are not

    prepared. Vacation plans might be

the talk around the dinner table and

we encourage it! Relax and enjoy

some much needed time off to spend

with Family. We are proud of all this

    Battalion has accomplished and look

forward to any and all challenges!

    Headquarters and Headquarters BatteryHurricanes

    Greetings!

April was business as usual for the Hurricane

Family - a lot of training with some fun thrown in

for good measure. The Battery supported the

Battalion headquarters and the firing Batteries' live

fire and air assault exercises by establishing the

    Tactical Operations Center (TOC), providing

medical and survey support so the Batteries were

able to achieve the five requirements for accurate

predicted fire. We also conducted a 12 mile footmarch to test Troopers' endurance. This event

concluded with a BBQ to refuel and rehydrate the

    Troopers.

The Hurricane family also bid a sad farewell to

our outstanding FRG leader, Shelly Mawyer and

welcomed our new FRG leader, Crystal Garcia. The

Battery extends its heartfelt gratitude to Shelly for

all she has done for the Battery and to Crystal for

graciously volunteering to carry the torch.

Congratulations also go out to SGT Dixon, the

Battery Trooper of the Month for graduating WLC

on the Commandants List. Until next time

    Hurricane family!

    Family and Friends

April proved to be another very successful month

for the Assassins. Maintaining our standards of

precision as Paratroopers and Artillerymen has

continued to produce great yields. We kicked off April

with participation in that Battalions outstanding

performance at the Division Retirement Ceremony. We

also defended our ultimate football title as the

Assassins conquered all opposition in the Wabbit

Hunters Bowl, making us 4-time repeat champions.

The Battery continued to hone our skills during our

week long field training exercise, accurately firing over400 rounds during day and night operations. In

addition, we conducted the Batterys first air assault

mission in quite some time, utilizing two Blackhawks

and one Chinook helicopter to deliver our howitzers and

Paratroopers to a firing point. Though the delivery

assets differed from our normal high performance

aircraft, the performance of the sections was

outstanding and we accurately fired another 50 rounds

in support of training. Success in these events can be

allied to the outstanding participation in the Battery

FRG 5K and Cookout conducted in the beginning of the

month. As we prepare for Mays scheduled two week

field exercise, we confide in your loving support and

thank you for all you efforts and future efforts in

support of the men of the Assassin Battery!

During this month the Battery has been busier

than ever. The Barbarian Troopers conducted

Platoon level live fire operations, an air assault two

gun raid, and drop zone fire mission in conjunction

with an airborne operation. Our Troopers continue

to exceed expectations and get better at what they

do every day. As we move into next month we are

prepared to conduct some additional field training

that will allow us to continue to hone our skills as

Artillerymen. We are also looking forward to

celebrating All American Week. All American Weekwill be an opportunity for our Troopers to socialize

with the Paratroopers and Alumni of the 82nd

Airborne Division and carry on one of its great

traditions. We are looking forward to also seeing

Families come out to support the Battery and

Battalion as we compete with units from across the

Division in sporting competitions. This month we

also say farewell to Brittany Yeager who has

stepped down as Battery FRG Leader. I want to

send out a Thank You from the whole Battery for all

the hard work and dedication that she put in to

helping the Troopers and Families of Bravo Battery.

Chaplains CornerApril showers bring May flowersor

so they say. As we move at double-time

speed into spring and on to summer, we

all have a lot going on. Work, friends,

    family, barbecues, beach time,

motorcycle riding and trying to get some

sleephow can we do it al l?

Sometimes, stress levels rise so much

that we cant enjoy the fun things of life.

Even being with family and friends can

be a drag. The honeymoon of returning

from deployment is long gone and life is

hurtful at times. People may fail you,

bosses mistreat you, children ignoreyoubut God is there for you. Scripture

tell us that He is a very present help in

time of trouble and that He is a friend

that sticks closer than a brother. If you

are in a stormy season of life, I

encourage you to look to God for your

sustainment. As the old song says,

The sun is always shining above the

    clouds.
