As the pub is on the A25, very limited parking is available outside the pub. The nearest available Public Car Park (about 2 mins walk) is a pay & display on Upper West Street (£4 for over 4 hours on Sunday.). From the Car Park walk West down Upper West Street and turn left into the narrow alleyway (just past a red brick ramp). Exit the alleyway, cross A25, the pub is on the right. For those on a budget, on-street parking (3 mins walk from the pub) is often available on Evesham Road (about 150m, West along West St. towards Dorking.). Public Transport: Rail users: Nearest mainline station is (GWR/Southern) Reigate Rail Station (10mins walk, Follow London Road into Reigate. Bear right onto Upper West Street, past the car park, follow directions above.)

Starters

1. It was crazy that the management came up with the "huddle plan" for their beers. 2. A mess of sad butter? Now that's food for thought. 3. To begin with, examples might be gulf, acetylene and shell. Stage 1 Turn right from pub. At junction, cross the road and turn right into Park Lane. Pass Pilgrim Mews and follow road round to the left into "Priory Park" Continue ahead on path which begins at Stable Mews. At side road into Morrison's supermarket, cross over and keep to the path nearest to the fence and walls on left. End S1 at Notice Board.

4. As far as we know, Christian may have stopped by an Inn But his progress didn't bring him here for a gin. spare: Don't park on the wall at any time. 5. She keeps a low profile here as we walk about but will have a gin and lemon later on, we have no doubt. 6. Strictly speaking you just need the one to produce a melody from the bag. 7. A silver bracelet in the sky? No, just an H&S device on high.

Stage 2 Take path heading diagonally right towards roadway opposite playground. Turn left along pavement, passing a green metal barrier across the road. Veer to the right with roadway and take wide concrete pathway with red brick school to your right. Keep ahead past a tree in a circular enclosure and on to a signpost at junction of paths. Keep on the same path as it curves to the left. Continue until just short of the main road. Turn right up narrow stone path running parallel to main road. End S2 at 2 bollards across path.

8. "Hey teachers, leave the kids alone, all in all it's just another brick in the wall... " 9 It isn't very regal to use hedgehogs in wonderland but here it's quite conventional rules, have no fear.

Spare no panic! 10. Five heads and yet 6 faces with not one muzzle all you need to complete this puzzle. 11. This looks moderately humorous but hardly sounds side-splitting. Stage 3 Make a hairpin right turn as indicated by footpath sign and then take the downhill right fork between the trees (N.B. There is a slightly less steep path by walking on just a few feet). The path opens out with a large building in the distance. Follow the path to your left and when the path stops, continue walking towards the beacon. Just before the beacon, take the wide path to the left and then almost immediately take the next path to the right. Keep straight on this path beside a steepish drop to the right. Eventually there is a clearing with several paths in front and to the left. Ignore these and steer towards the right and to the pond onto a well-made pathway and keeping the pond on your right. End S3 at the wooden structure on the right just before the metal fence on left. 12. If you land on this you might look for a ladder. 13. 3 rude M's, 3 rude C's and one rude V. 14. On the subject of nutrition... it's possibly just fresh bread and water but don't cry "foul".

Stage 4 Keep on the path as you pass over the weir and continue on past the pond, ignoring the path to the right with the small wooden bridge and take the left wide path heading across the playing fields towards the children's playground on the right and the tennis courts on the left. Take the path beside the tennis courts (on your left) and at the end follow the path as it veers to the right leading to the roadway. Turn left and walk along the pavement until you reach the blue metal barrier type gate on left between road and open grass fields. End S 4 blue metal barrier type gate

18 By hook or by crook replace the cover in an amalgam. Stage 5 Enter the playing fields at this point (on left) and make your way towards the metal seats in the distance ahead. Keep on in this direction past another seat and into a small copse. When the copse ends, turn sharp right , keeping the green mesh fence on the right. When fence ends, continue on the grass curving round to the left and two more seats until reaching the road on right via a black elongated rusty barrier. End S 5 Black rusty barrier 19. They provide for canines but not for the puppies which is curious.

20. Scored a nice tribute to one man and his dogs. 21. It would seem they might have expected "us" in a floral tribute 22. It would appear there is eavesdropping going on in the country estates.

Stage 6 Pass through beside the barrier and turn right onto pavement N.B. We have now re-joined Park Lane and so are re-tracing the final footsteps of those who actually managed to finish the inaugural quizwalk (or "treasure hunt" as it was known then) on 29th September 1957 and met up with John Cooper and Derek Wilmot (walk organisers) "still drinking tea" in a Reigate "caff". RH/CC Cross road to left hand pavement when it begins at Green Lane junction. Continue along Park Lane until Junction with Reigate High Street and turn left back to the "Blue Anchor"
