Active markets are expected as we get closer to Thanksgiving. avocados Mexican harvesting slowed due to Hurricane Rick last week followed by Dia de los Muertos this week. Supplies should improve by the end of the week. Size is peaking at 60ct and smaller. Some lenticle dark spotting is appearing on the skin of the fruit but does not affect the internal quality. Most fruit is coming from Mexico. beans–green Eastern markets are steady. GA season is waning, and FL production started with light yields. Western supplies remain limited. Mexican production has started with low volume. berries–blackberry, blueberry, & raspberry Raspberry and blackberry supplies are improving with increasing volumes from Mexico. The blueberry market remains challenged due to port congestions and unloading delays. berries–strawberry Rain has affected the fruit. Northern CA has finished, and Southern CA was damaged and delayed. Most fruit is now coming from Mexico. There will be a gap until Mexican production ramps up and Southern CA recovers from the rain. broccoli & cauliflower Broccoli and Broccolini will remain active until mid-November. Yields are still below anticipated volumes. Supplies are limited due to extremely wet weather. Commodities and value-added packs are both impacted. Quality is fair to good. Cauliflower markets are unsettled due to transition from CA. Mexico struggles with availability. Markets will remain active. 5.MUSHROOMS All suppliers are experiencing shortages on all types of mushrooms. WEST COAST Rainstorms continue and nighttime temps are declining along with shortening daylight. MEXICO Windy and cold temps will affect Chihuahua, Durango, Aguascalientes, Michoacan, Guerrero and Oaxaca to the Gulf states. The Pacific will have thunderstorms. EAST COAST There is a good chance of rain for much of the East. Temps in the Southeast to the Northeast will be above or near average.

celery Value Added celery is in a demand exceeds supply situation due to capacity constraints. Commodity celery is more active and expected to see increased market activity through November due to crop failures reported out of Oxnard. The last of the Salinas crop remains of good quality.

citrus—lemons, limes, & oranges Lemon new crop volumes and quality are increasing. Markets are softer. Chilean supplies will wind down in 3 weeks. Lime quality has improved, and volumes are good on all sizes. Blanching and oil spots are seen due to weather. A new crop will start in 2 weeks that will mostly be smaller (230-250ct). Markets are decreasing for 88ct oranges and smaller due to navels starting. 72ct and larger are limited and markets have increased.

cucumbers Eastern supplies and quality are good. Western markets are steady with good volumes from Mexico.

eggplant Eastern supplies are very light with strong markets and good quality. Western supplies remain tight. CA production is finished, and Mexican production has started with low volumes.

grapes—green & red Markets will begin a slow climb until year end. Late variety harvests are nearly complete and overall crop is down 2.5 million cartons from 2019. Quality is good.

lettuce–iceberg, leaf, romaine Markets are extremely active as yields decline due to weather. Commodity and value-added packs are

melons–cantaloupe & honeydew Cantaloupe supplies are extremely limited as the AZ crop has been devastated by the white fly virus. Domestic honeydew production continues to be extremely limited but Mexican crossings have improved.

onions Markets are steady and quality is good. Shallots have transitioned to the new crop, but yields are challenged. Due to capacity and raw product sizing concerns, Value Added onions are in a demand exceeds supply situation.

peppers–green, red & yellow Green bell supplies are in demand exceed supply situation with strong markets. Red bell supplies are limited. See the FreshPress+ for quality specifics.

potatoes market remains firm with higher demand for smaller sizes. Quality is good to very good.

squash—yellow & zucchini Eastern squash supplies are lighter with good quality. Markets are expected to be more active by the end of the week as demand increases. Mexican production is consistent with good demand.

tomatoes Overall volume remains low, and the markets continue to be strong on all varieties. FL supply is expected to improve through November.
