March is the Birth-month of Dr. Seuss, and the Woman’s Club is gear-ing up for our annual Green Eggs and Ham celebration. Please lend a hand and join in for the fun, and shake those winter blues! I would like to thank the Eve-ning Group, Toni Seyferth & her North Muskegon student cast, and chair Deb Roest for all their planning and efforts that go into this happy occasion. Nancy Bierenga and the American Home Dept. will chair the luncheon for March, which also happens to be the Gardening, Nature and Ecology Books Month! Our guest speaker will be Marcia Breuker. Marcia is a retired florist from our local Ray and Sharon’s, and she will be sharing her tips of the trade to our group. We have a line-up of wonderful speakers for this spring, and I hope you can plan to attend: April 3rd Cynthia Pimm of Hospice of Michigan May 1st Dave Sipka on The State of our Schools Women of Accomplishment planning is well underway and I urge you to visit our website to download the nomination form to fill out for any out-standing women in your life. The nomination forms are due March 30th, and the award ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 18th.

AMERICAN HOME Nancy Bierenga, chair We had a great discussion about natural beauty products at our February meeting. Staying away from all the chemical additives is good for your body and good for the environment. I tried one of the foot soaks today and my feet feel wonderful, plus the whole room smells great! We also discussed the March luncheon. We hope you’ll be able to join us for some good food, great friends, and an interesting demonstration about spring decorating with flowers and found items (you don’t need to spend a lot of money to bring spring to your home). Whether or not Mother Nature is ready to get on board, we’re plan-

ning to bring Spring into the club!

museum side must be locked stationary from the inside prior to the north door being locked into it. The door by the ramp doesn’t always close completely and has been found open several times.

Agreed that we will sell the old green folding chairs at the spring garage sale with the proceeds being used to purchase new white chairs. If you are connected with any businesses, please see whether they might be willing to sponsor some chairs. They are about $25 each.

Thanks Ramos and Sons Auto Body for their purchase of two white chairs for the club.

Mardi Gras 2013 Recap Lindy Olechnovwicz The second annual Mardi Gras Jazz Party held at the Watermark Center on Saturday, February 9th was a fun time for those in attendance!! We enjoyed great food, awesome music, dancing and enjoyment from our emcee, Britta Cleveland. A special thank you to all of our sponsors that made the event a success: Andrie, Inc., Midas, Platinum Builders, Elan Realty - Nancy Bierenga, Soils and Structures, Baker Lumber Company, Novotny Electronics, Sass & Sons Drywall, Bruno's Spe-cialty Contactors, Photography by Rae Jean, Mike & Debbe Matrone, Carl Liebertz Plumbing, Jeff Sparks Builder, Mike's Tile & Stone, A Touch of Color, Scott Findley Builders and ES Framing. Many local businesses also donated items for our Krewe of Goodie Baskets and our King & Queen Basket. A French Fling Getaway to New Orleans was awarded the eve-ning of the event! This year's incredible party was hosted by the following GMWC members: Debbe Matrone, Tresha Kidder, Lori Beth Clark, Rae Jean Erickson, Laurel Sass, Sharon Beck, Carolyn Bowen, Penny Cooper and Lindy Olech-nowicz. The event generated approximately $8000 in revenue for the club. In true New Orlean's fashion, next year's Mardi Gras party will be held on March 1st, 2014, which is the Saturday before Fat Tuesday.

There is an opportunity to purchase Younker’s Community Day coupon booklets and donate the

money to the GMWC, but you must do it on line. Go to http://www.communitydayevent.com/ Then select the Support Organizations tab and you will be able to choose the club. They will mail the booklets to you free of charge—be sure to allow time to receive the booklet in the mail. The event is March 8&9. If you purchase the booklet in the store, you will be donating the money to whoever is selling them.

The Evening Dept. still needs help in setting up for the breakfast at their meeting on Thursday, March 14. The meeting will begin with a potluck at 5:30 PM. They also need help serving at the event and with clean up following the event. Please contact Deb Roest at 744-8406 if you are able to help.

Our Annual Game Day to support the scholarship fund will be held on Wed., April 24. We hope to have a day session as well as the evening session advertised here. Put it on your calendar now!

Our collection for March will be for Pound Bud-dies of West Michigan. They are in need of the following: Dry dog food & treats Dry and canned cat food & treats Towels and blankets for the animals to lay on (your old ones) Paper towels & glass cleaners Spray cleaners with bleach Kitty litter Cleaning supplies - bleach, dish soaps, HE laundry soap Rubber toys And, of course, cash donations are always wel-come.

Please continue to collect Box Tops and Labels for Education. Place them in the basket that is passed at the meeting. Our collection for Sanctuary at the Park in December gave us enough wheelchair bags, walker bags, and lap throws for the long-term patients. We were also able to purchase Bingo game prizes with the extra money. Items were dis-tributed to the residents at their Christmas party. Thank you to all who gave so generously!
